If 100 btc gets you 15,384 shares on btct
And 100 btc gets you 20,000 shares on BF

And let's say that in one year each share has paid divs worth 0.05 btc each then

BF shares have earned 1000 btc and
Btct shares have earned 769 btc

This is a no brainer and people are getting caught up in the share price without focussing on the important issue of large div payments.

Why didn't you come along earlier, you would have saved me a lot of messing around.

>>>>Listen to what this guy is saying.<<<<<<<<<

The answer kids is open an account with bitfunder and reinvest all your divs there.
No charge for that advice.  Smiley

Unlike that exaggerated scenario, .05BTC will never happen, and so your divdends won't be as important as your ability to sell the shares.

lol VE if you don't think your divs will be significant you can have them sent direct to my account - PM me for details.

The price you paid initially has little bearing....you net it out when you inevitably sell.

Presumably they both went up in value a similar amount, as the prices generally move together.

Personally I hope they continue to restrict arbitrage...it'll keep more of the nitwits away from BTCT we have too many already.

I never said they wouldn't be significant.  I said they would never be .05btc/share.  In that scenario that would be 2.6BTC/share per YEAR, and in this stock market that would mean a value of approximately 10BTC/share.   Cheesy
Your dividends are going to be much much lower than that.  It will be great you're collecting more, but you will have no selling power with your shares.  You would have to depend on the dividends being profitable until the company dies, or until you die.

Look into compounding interest - that is essentially what is going on when you have a fixed div but cheaper shares on another exchange. edit- (and you re-invest divs)

You are referring to someone elses point - and I think he said .05btc pa per share so I don't know where you get 2.6 then 10btc from. Huh

You are correct....maybe I just despise pretty much everything about bitfunder.

They could only be less desirable if is was MPEX we were talking about.

The figures I estimated were 0.05 btc per share per year

This, in my opinion, is very conservative given that when half this figure is realised Ken starts receiving divs on the additional 15 Mil shares and this is more likely to happen within 6 months and while our divs per share will be become diluted, the company's growth is likely to cancel this out.  Also Vbs estimated hardware sales as 2x mining revenue, but this figure is probably going to be considerably higher than that.

I am referring to my own experience.  It's not worth it.

.05BTC dividend x 52 weeks = 2.6btc/share annually.  Based on ~25% APR, this would value the share at 10.4BTC.

Oh you meant .05BTC/year.  I see.. well it's still a bad move for big shareholders.  Say the price is 25% cheaper on BF.  This means you would have to make a solid 25% annual return for a whole year before it becomes worth it to switch.  During that full year, you will not have the same ability to sell 100,000 shares onto the market as you would with BTCT.  The inability to sell your shares is very dangerous.

OK errr, well whatever, you quoted the .05btc and argued it would never get that high per share, so if that wasn't a reference to the previous post quoting .05btc you must have been having an argument inside your own head.

The .05btc/share had nothing to do with any argument at all.  It was a side tracked discussion that had nothing to do with my point.

I thought we were moving on? Who's stuck on it now?

Did I insult you over these past 2 pages? Even once? No.
It actually has been an adult conversation but now you need to resort to insulting people?
