No price doesn't increase/double when block reward halves. That is 90% market dependant.
QRK has too much supply as it is.

I make it 12917 block until reward halves.
Generation is ~30 seconds per block which should work about to 6458.5 minutes/107 hours/4.48 days?

too much instamine, however the coin is cheap, i have actually just bought a load back at this cheap price. I'm not certain but i really think it will appreciate greatly from where it is now. I mean you can buy a million of them for 2btc, it has more chance of doubling anytime soon than LTC,  it could easily go up 5x and not make big news. I've taken a bit of a punt on it going up anyway. I like the diff adjust and the reasonable stable price for a new coin. If prime was not around yet this coin would have been much bigger news.

+1 for this.
Due to it's current low price, chance to double are greater.

So low... I wonder where will all CPU hashpower go after release of GPU-enabled prime miner?

Of course I gave you bad advice. Good one is way out of your price range.

Well quark going down hard.

Down quark
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The down quark or d quark (symbol: d) is the second-lightest of all quarks, a type of elementary particle, and a major constituent of matter. Together with the up quark, it forms the neutrons (one up quark, two down quarks) and protons (two up quarks, one down quark) of atomic nuclei.

Other CPU coins maybe. I dont think there will be a GPU miner for Quark though?

I doubt there will be one available any time soon. Someone might write a private one - to use on Quark and Sif, but it would be quite a task, and they'd have no reason to release it publicly.

Groestl hash is evil, it slowed the chain of hashers down to 180 KHs. No much sense to mine at such speed.

Of course I gave you bad advice. Good one is way out of your price range.

Well quark going down hard.

Be patient. The market for a new altcoin is always unstable. The potential for QRK is probably in 3 or 4 months later when supply starts to dry up. Also, we should try to promote Quark. Its price will definitely go up if more and more merchants start accepting QRK.

you could be right, a lot of cpu power could come back to this coin once the gpu miners are ready for the other popular cpu coins. Block rewards halves soon so mining hard until then anyway.

Yeah I've been doing the same.

also made a little chunk buying and selling today. best cpu coin except primecoin so far and since prime is for those lucky few with botnets and gpu miner access, i'll stick with this for now.

About 5000 blocks away from reward halving (about 1.7 days).

Hashing difficulty around 100.
