Had one in my cart and I just couldn't pull the trigger. It's either a mistake to buy it now at this price or i'm an idiot. Either way it's a mistake lol. Gonna stick to GPU mining. Good luck all.

I did get one into my cart, but then the cart screen had the pink line across the top saying it wasn't available.  A few refreshes on the product page later, and it showed 1 available, the last one, but then by the time I hit Add to Cart, it was gone.

A lot of non-mathing mofos out there.  Double the price of a 741 for 50% gain  in hash rate?  Yeah..... NO.  And with the new lower BTC prices which universally equal LESS PROFIT.  A fool and his money are soon parted.  Looks like some people took out advance loans against their upcoming tax refund.  Not me.

Omg you have to fight to get it in the cart, then fight to checkout, then also fight to finish the order? All while timed? What kind of clusterf*ck scatterbrain sh*t is this??? How the hell does anyone manage to get an order completed?

Ya.  I got the "Ha! faked you out - it's not really in your cart" message too.  I was able to repeat this scenario three times over 24 minutes.

Sounds like everyone had this problem too.

3k for an 11TH miner for end of March delivery is way too much. Difficulty could be up 50% by then. ROI would be over a year out. Canaan should've come down to Bitmain's price on their S9s. How soon people forget that last January BTC was below $1000. This bitcoin bubble is starting to look like the internet bubble of 2000. Companies are adding blockchain to their names or just by mentioning involvement in blockchain and having their stocks jump 50-100%. We should all remember what happened when that bubble burst in 2000 & 2001.

Here's the thing people. Stop complaining;  Wink

Unlike every other company out they go out of there way to list any extra units that become available for forum members. They even carve out a small slice for us from the main order.

It does suck when you try and can't get through or you happen to get there to late. I'm sure they will try and fix it, but really if you get to the end and it says out of stock, take a minute breathe, and then act like you just got there and there were none available.

If people keep shitting on their efforts where is the incentive for them to come here and give us a shot at units, and even a slight discount sometimes.

Yes, we are whining a bit, but it could all be avoided with a page that reads that they are having difficulties and aren't  able to fulfill sales like they had hoped(bug is you can get it in your cart but it immediately become invalid).   A little  transparency and honesty goes a long way.   We understand there being no availability, and not getting it in your cart to begin with. We just don't understand why it gets pulled from your cart - probably given to someone who was lucky enough to not experience the problem.

By the way I replicated this on three different machines running three different operating systems using a different browser on each machine(IOS/Windows/Linux using Safari/Firefox/Chrome). So I feel certain this is a shopping cart bug and not an browser/cookie/security settings issue.

From what I saw, stock gets gobbled up as soon as people put them in their cart... so the only way to get through was to keep refreshing your checkout/cart while you were still on the timer.  When other people's timer expires, then stock goes back in and if you are refreshing your checkout you can have a chance to finish your order before more people remove the stock again by adding to a new cart..

wack-a-mole shopping - not sure if it was better to go for 6 or 1. I did it for 1 and eventually got through

4876 people trying to simultaneously buy less than 200 units.  cart just has problems on the last few, its millliseconds between stock removal and addition for the last few.  It is not that it is getting pulled from your cart, the front end caching is not caught up with the backend and it was not available to begin with.  If you can replicate a way to have 4000 people checkout at the same time on three different browsers, send us a resume.  But for the few that emailed us saying they had problems and didnt tell us to eat a d**k we took care of them. I can confirm that Blokforge does support their customers - they came through for me on a couple of transactions.  Based on the purchases I have done and their response to those of us in the forum, I will look there first for new miner related products in the future.  Hopefully when the 841s come out they will be priced competitively to the S9s, the 821s or whatever else maybe on the market and will be available from Blokforge.

I got one of the pricey 821s (with help from Blokforge) but I do not have any regrets.  Those who bought knew they were taking a risk of never being super profitable.  Personally, I see mining as a risky investment - I mine as long as possible to get coins with the firm belief bitcoin will keep rising over the next 10-15 years.  Also, getting the Avalon miners is the best option if you are like me and run them at home in a spare room or basement.  I do not have a data center to properly house the crap jet-engine/unreliable hardware from Bitmain (I know they are industrial but they are still crappily built machines).  The 741s run so much better (cooler, quieter and with almost no failures) than any of the S5, S7, or S9s I have used (about 20 of them over the last three years).  Hopefully, the 821s (and 841s) will be just as good.

It sounds like some of the buyers are cancelling their 821 orders after the fact (possibly because the prices are going back down).  Unless there is a true hardship (like losing your job or health), this just doesn't seem honest - I guess I am an optimist or a fool!

Finally,  I am a supporter of Blokforge - it is nice to have a trustworthy place to buy from in the US.

WooCommerce at it's finest. Did the guy complaining about Pangolin's Woo try getting one of these? lol

I had to automatically keep adding to cart for over an hour straight when there were only 6 left because of stock hold and everyone else doing the same. Once in cart, I had on auto-refresh and it would sometimes show the checkout but never go through due to pending orders/held stock. Sometimes it'd show FTP login too, so site was getting hammered. After an hour, others seemed to have given up, I checked out fine, and there were still a few left.

So I feel certain this is a shopping cart bug and not an browser/cookie/security settings issue.

It's just how WooCommerce works with holding stock and pending orders. It doesn't subtract actual stock until an order is changed to processing. That doesn't happen until payment is confirmed.  The remaining few that you could still add to cart but not checkout were most likely stock from pending orders paid with BTC that didn't confirm yet. The message I saw showed pending orders cancelling after 80 minutes and I was able to checkout then. When the site is essentially under a DoS attack, it will make it more difficult.

"When the site is essentially under a DoS attack"

You mentioned you used auto-refresh... you didn't mention how much you were using it.. but then talk about waiting people out like you were part of the attack.

And who knows what other people were doing..  probably even worse

I'm actually a little surprised to see the final March pricing.  I wanted it to be $15-2000 like everyone else, but given the final price from Canaan $2900 was very reasonable.  Without hitching a ride on what really makes money on Broadway Road in Arizona I'm not sure we would be having a discussion at all.  Smiley  The overhead and HR resources to do what Blokforge is doing for us is pretty generous IMO.

I hope that they get bigger batches in the future to help justify this activity and guarantee we continue have the representation that we take advantage of.  Smiley

I can understand fighting for the cart, but after you finally get it you shouldnt have to have it suddenly removed again while filling out payment details. That just doesnt make sense. I feel like I had much less opportunity because I dont have some sort of strong fiber optic cable connection. I just wasted my time refreshing the carts and payment for 2 hours without getting anywhere. Would have gotten 6, then tried 3, then tried just 1. If future sales are the same then im not sure what to make of this particular distributor.

I only started buying new miners back in August; but have found it's often the same. You have so many people trying to buy a small amount.

Just visualize those insane black Friday videos we've all seen.

Like they said before if you email them and let them know the issue you had they try their best to make it up to you or help you out with a cancelled order
