Yes, It is possible. In my opinion ETH has a far greater use-case than BTC. ETH isn't going away any time soon, seeing that many ERC-20 tokens are dependent on the platform. BTC on the other hand is consistently being manipulated, although all alts rely on BTC I think in the future we may see them being traded for ETH. well over 40% of Alt coins are transacted on the ethereum platform to begin with so it would make sense.

Yes, it can. But it looks like a long way to go. It might be possible for ethereum to reach the same value with bitcoin,  but not as quick as bitcoin. It might be still five to ten years for ethereum to equal with Bitcoin value. Let's just wait for it.

Just wondering if ETH can

I don't think it can reach the 20K USD price. As we can see, ETH can even hardly reach the 1K USD mark before January 2018. But who knows? Cryptos are unpredictable and we just woke up in the next morning that ETH's value is half the price of BTC already. Smiley

Right now everybody uses BTC to buy everything, more than they use ETH. If you want to buy into an ICO, you use BTC (eventough you use ETH, I mean, use use BTC to buy ETH). You want to cash out, BTC! You want to buy a boat, BTC!

Just wondering if ETH can

Maybe in long term son. But I dont think ETH can do what BTC has done. I do believe that ETH can be pricey but I dont think it would be as fast as how the BTC gets pricey everyday. Yes ETH is the most popular alt coin so far. And almost a lot of projects here are using ETH but I dont think it is enough to boost the price for ETH for it to top and gets as pricey as BTC. But thats only my prediction son. Again you cant tell which is which in crypto world. But for me YES ETH can. BUT IN A LONG TERM. Smiley

In my opinion, ETH may overtake Bitcoin in marketcap but not in price. Ethereum have better use than Bitcoin and they also have a better community. Ethereum is like a supercomputer, it can do everything and developers can create applications in Ethereum blockchain. Also, once the value of Bitcoin is too high, the newcomer will look for alternative coins to invest and Ethereum could be one of them since the value of ETH is very low right now

I am also thinking in that direction,Ethereum has proved to be one of the most popular. At the time of writing its market value and 24-hour trading volume are second to only Bitcoin. The actual monetary value for a single "ETH" however, is less than five percent of bitcoin, so owning a few Ether is no way near as pleasant as owning a few bitcoin.
Part of that is down to bitcoins' built-in scarcity. There is a hard limit on the eventual number of bitcoins, with diminishing returns for miners as they approach that mythical 21 million mark. One day no more bitcoins will be created, and no matter how many end up being lost, no more will be made. Thanks to supply and demand, that means bitcoin should, in theory, grow in value, at least until no more coins appear.

In comparison, Ethereum will continue to release the same amount of Ether on a regular basis forever, so its supply will remain constant and expanding. Finally, in think this is just the beginning of crypto. Development.

In longer term, ETH value can even overrun bitcoin's value. Both of this coins are created for different reasons and ETH has a lot of real world usage while bitcoin has become a store of value nowadays. ETH is widely used to create tokens to fund new businesses. Also the transactions are superfast and lot more cheaper than bitcoin which increases its acceptability to the frequent transactors.

Also if we see the market cap, ETH is holding the second position since a long time now. Which proves that ETH is widely accepted and praised by the crypto community. So I believe, ETH can certainly reach the current level of bitcoin, probably not soon but surely in long run.
Yes it has surpasses Bitcoin if we talk about the value of Bitcoin and duration of growth value than BTC's Ethereum has more charisma on the ICO's like tokens and the other grants of The founder of it. While Bitcoin has never been in contact on Satoshi i think.

Somehow it doesn't sound like it can happen. And I'm telling this despite I'm one of the biggest fan of ethereum. We have to understand that there are certain dynamics that even ether is depend on bitcoin's performance eventually.

Just wondering if ETH can
i do have a believe that in 4 or 5 years where people stop investing on bitcoin and bitcoin doesnt have any effect on other coin value. i think when this happen ethereum could have a same value as much as bitcoin right now. but it takes time to be big as bitcoin. Ethereum have to keep develop by making faster transaction and better platform.

The possibility is remote. Ethereum is a great coin just as Bitcoin. But for it to reach and overtake Bitcoin is remote to my thinking. Greatness is not only measured by high price but value. As more and more cryptocurrencies are entering the marketplace and solving problems, it will not be easy to see a coin that will get to a very high value as bitcoin.

Anything can happen in the crypto market. But it is hyperbole to say now that ethereum can match btc value. I don't see in short term ethereum can reach close to bitcoin value. Ethereum is far behind to bitcoin. Honestly speaking there must not be any comparison between both currency.

I am not sure BTC can be overlapped by something. Because they are produce limited in Market, not so many as ETH

Ethereum smart contracts and fast transaction can make some surprise in price but I don't think so that bitcoin will be under price of ethereum. Bitcoin will stay always king.

Bitcoin remain the first and most traded cryptocurrency in the world. millions of transaction are made daily using the coin.  ETH is an altcoin which is not not use as currency but as smart contract that allow creation of token making many ICO used it. both are good crypto but i dont see ETH reach BTC value in the nearest future. BTC market value will continue to increase except the coin is dump which i sont think it is possible

It's a bit tricky since Bitcoin is the first decentralized cryptocurrency and will most likely have an advantage whenever compared to other currencies, people keep sticking to calling it the grandfather of all crypto. Heck, people even use the word Bitcoin whenever talking about any sort of crypto related stuff. Me personally, I don't see ETH reaching or surpassing Bitcoin ever.
