I joined the forum just the other day with the interest of obtaining some bitfury's, and the drillbit board sounds like a great concept.

I would pull the trigger to participate in this group buy much sooner, pending concept photos and/or actual photos of your drillbit system board, and the couple of bitfury sample chips with a "barntech" on  a piece of paper in the photo, or whatever. It's simple and silly, but it would authenticate the group buy for me personally.

Hey Fear58

Chip photos are now up. Board photos soon.

I am looking at this as a way to expand on the ASIC miners that I'll probably end up receiving later than this stuff ships!

I am going to be running my rig off a Raspberry Pi, usb hub and CGminer

Will I be able to run my current ASIC set up of 20 Burnins & 2 Klondike 16s and the Drillbit off the same hub, having them all hashing away together using the same worker?

I'm in the same boat. Some day (or rather month) I'll have a Burnin 20 set up and a BFL. Can we run them with a Drillbit? If not it's not a big deal, but nice to know.

I think a lot of guys are open to something new, especially in light of the ongoing Avalon and BFL debacle. It seems like a nice system you are working on, just a question of profitability with the difficulty rising so much. Has anyone run numbers on the December difficulty and profitability?

Hey guys.

Yes, your Drillbit boards will happily coexist with other ASICs. We are still in the process of sorting out the firmware, so i will have more details about how it will actually run in the coming weeks. We are aiming to make it as plug and play as we can, so mining through cgminer will work just like mining with another ASIC. We are also looking at a standalone GUI to give you direct control over various parts of the board, allowing you to easily adjust voltage and overclocking of the chips.

Working here as well. Did you raise the price from $300 to $310 for the complete system though? When you click on $300 the next pay pal page says $310.

Any estimates on shipping to Europe yet?

Oh, and great news on the compatibility and potential overclocking through a GUI.

Thx,
IAS

Hey.

Yeah the overclocking is looking cool. Will give you the option of running it smooth and stable or cranking it right up if you want to.

Regarding the price, it is $300 for the fully assembled board. If you pay in BTC, thats all you pay. The extra $10 on the paypal option is to cover paypal fees. It is possible to avoid these fees if you send money direct from paypal rather than using a credit card, but yeah, unfortunately, the paypal fees put the price up a bit.

Postage to europe will be somewhere between $40 and $100 depending on the postage type.

Cheers.

Thanks for the quick reply Barntech.

Last question, what size chip order are you looking to place and when is the closing date?
(Any plans to keep count in the thread like other GB's?)

Thanks,

Barntech,

How many chips have to be purchased before you place the order.  I'm concerned about timing and wonder if it would be faster to just buy boards directly from MegaBigMiner.  Granted, their price is higher per Gh but if they can ship a month sooner then that's a big advantage.

Does anyone know at what number the chip counter started at?  2500, 3000, 5000?Huh  It's at 2422 now.  If it started at 2500 we might have to wait a long time for te order to be placed.

PS.  I purchased populated boards via Paypal so I have some skin in the game on this group buy.

Ideally we have all chips accounted for before the chips become available. I have a feeling that they will start to move quicker as the project moves along and we come closer to the chip availability. At that point, if we still haven't made up the 3000 chips, we will still purchase the chips if we're in a range of left over chips that we can cover. I can't exactly say what that is, but basically if October rolls around and there's still a bunch of chips left over, we'll buy the remaining ones so we can get complete the order. Lets see how interest goes in the next couple weeks.

And thanks for placing your order, good to see that number moving.

Cheers.
