Well Microcenter has determined they are the holy gatekeepers now and jacked all their prices by nearly 2x and are limiting cards to 1 model type per household to "protect the gamers" - Sheesh.

How the hell can we get new GPUs at this point?

Very slowly, sneaking in orders as you can when you catch a card restocked.

If it wasn't for Bitpay and their ISSUES I'd have managed to pick up 4 so far this month, instead of 2 and 2 "messed up payments didn't go through because THEIR system is broken".

Well their "deal" now is that if you do an ENTIRE "build your own PC" build with them.. they'll "discount" the card to the normal price. But you're still limited to just 1.

http://www.microcenter.com/product/488775/ROG_STRIX_GeForce_GTX_1070_Ti_Advanced_Edition_Overclocked_Triple-Fan_8GB_GDRR5_PCIe_Video_Card

$989 for a 1070ti lol is there any roi in that price?

they have a ton in stock but its madness to pay asic prices for a gpu

you can find vega frontiers for 900ish and titan xp star wars ed for 1100
both better buys imo , at least they are closer to msp

gona grab another titan xp and two more frontiers i think next week

I have a 4 vega build , 2 frontiers 2 56 flashed to 64 and with power play mod and undervolt
39 eth 700 pascal around 160 watts

Ton in stock? I saw the sign for 1070Ti for $989 but the whole locked cabinet was empty. The Orange County Microcenter I just got back from has nothing except a few 1030s, some 750Tis (can't believe they still have these), some 550s and 460s.

Basically not a single card with a PCIe connector.  Good going nVidia/AMD - they created a monopoly for distribution channels.
There are plenty of 1050ti online, but I guess they are not attractive for mining. I secured 8 x 1060 the other day on Amazon but I ended up canceling because $285+tax = 313.5 I think it's too expensive for a 1060. It's wait and see now, hard to buy anything. Also, have you seen this? https://wccftech.com/nvidia-instructs-retailers-stop-selling-miners-sell-gamers/

evga 1070 ti hybrid

https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=08G-P4-5678-KR

559.99 + 29.99 =  589.98  that was my cost for them.

I will sell

1 for 615
2 for 1200

BTC or LTC to the lower 48 states.

I am looking to sell them to make room for the  beast

@bubbajo - thanks I ordered one, btw how do you control the fan speed with these since there is no speed knob

That unit isn't adjustable AFAIK.  Fan speed would have to be controlled via BIOS I guess?

Yeah, this is really a crazy situation. Again, both AMD & Nvidia's demand forecasters severely screwed up and now the entire world (well, at least of miners and gamers lol) is feeling it.  I've had a couple of close calls the past 2 days... was within seconds of getting another Asus 1070ti advanced edition from newegg for $549 but just missed it, now sold out again for who knows how long.  Also got a notification for MSI 570 Gaming for $300 but it was the 4gb version so I didnt pull the trigger right away, then thought twice 5 minutes later, but that was probably 4.5 minutes too late lol.

As to retailers like Microcenter engaging in price-gouging... I am highly against that.  I don't have a big issue with nominal increases in times like this (similar to what newegg sometimes does) but 2x is insane! I don't have a huge issue with actual people trying to sell at 2-3x retail... heck, I am most likely going to sell my 3 Vega 56's on ebay for about $1k each... but retailers should not be engaged in this kind of gouging imo.

Wow, I just checked out that Autominer on their website... looks really enticing although not sure about investing that much on lower-end GPUs.  Since I was already looking at building a 570 rig, the AMD option looks interesting, but if they are using 4GB cards, again, not really great for future-proofing.  I would maybe take 1-2 4GB 570s on a personally built 7 or 8x 570 rig but really looking to build it mostly with the 8GB variety.  I will shoot them an email to confirm 4 or 8, unless anyone here already knows that.

We ordered one of the Octominer 8 GPU motherboards today, hopefully the GPUs we pre ordered will arrive before the motherboard does. I'm not sure yet what we'll do for a frame, so it may just be the old pizza box 'n coat hangers ghetto rig at first. :p

So, I got the Onda board up and running with my normal 4x GTX 1080 Ti setup.

http://infotime.com/images/Onda_build_with_4_cards.png

I'm tempted to add four more cards to it.  Putting a rig in the Thermaltake Core X9 didn't impress me.  So I'm thinking of taking it's 4 cards and adding them to the Onda.  Could also take the Corsair AX1200i power supply.  Then I'd could use two of those PSU to power the combined rig.

What do you all think?

Nice you have the new version without the blocking mobo power cable. I'd say just do it, since your cards are watercooled and temps won't be an issue.

I've got a rig of 3x hybrids and 3x 1080ti sc2 (soon to be 4).

Those 3700rpm fans pushing through the radiators man, the cards are never above 37 degrees even at the hottest time of the day of 32 degrees. I had to lower core OC, it was boosting too high due to the low temps lol.

I would need some kind of adapter to run two power supplies.  What's recommended?  The harness with two 24 pin connectors or the little board with a 24 pin connection, a SATA or Molex, on a little PCB?  The latter is on Amazon, but one I looked at had a bunch of fishy looking reviews (i.e. fake reviews planted by the seller).

You'll have safety Nazis come in but I've been running all year with just shorting the 2 pins on the cable, no add power adapter or anything. I was just using a paperclip at first but since every PSU is EVGA now I have tons of their "tester" adapters that short the 2 pins.

Phil - if you get a chance I would love to see the internals of the thermaltake box.

How cool has it been running in comparison to the other rigs in the room?

or just a one wire jumper between the main and secondary PSU's PS_ON line so they can be fully shut down if wanted.

I'm not afraid to start a power supply by shorting the two pins together with a paper clip, done it before for testing.  But what about the sequence of power being applied.  The power supply will light up the graphics cards with the two 8 pin connectors and power would be supplied to the "risers", in this case additional PCIe connectors that connect to the motherboard.  I'm kinda worried that 1/2 of the cards and part of the mb will receive power before the rest of the system.

The way I would structure the power supplies is have one supply all the PCIe external power connectors on the GPUs and the other supply all the mobo connectors. As long as you turn on the GPU PSU first and turn it off last (or just leave it one - the cards draw hardly any power while off) you won't have any problems. Trying to supply half the mobo and GPUs with 1 PSU and the other half with a 2nd sounds nightmarish.
