Is anybody else concerned about the lack of a price spike after the block halving? It makes me think there are no new buyers in the zet market. So the holders will continue to hold and collect more coins mining, all the while the price/hash power slowly declines over time as people leave the community. 75% of all coins have already been mined...and a market cap of just ~650 BTC...is this coin dying?
Oh come on...

We finally have a CURRENCY here. BTC will never be one - it is like GOLD in cryptocurrency world. We need something to do Payments with. I believe ZET has the right structure to be THE ONE (quick confirmations + inflationary (so you do not want to keep it = spend it)). It needs time and it will take time for Mr. Market to get it...

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

switched to ubuntu because when i was solomining on xp i was finding blocks and having them rejected, was hoping with ubuntu i could have more connections and have less rejects.

i compiled the miner and got it working and also the zeta client, but i cant solomine, where does the zetacoin.conf go on ubuntu.  I built the client and miner in my home.

And is it zetacoin.conf or is it zetacoin-qt.conf on linux.

Thanks for any help.

Hi guys/gals,

Nice work!!

So far I'm merge mining BTC, NMC, DVC, I0C, IXC & GRC without issue - I'm trying to add ZET to my merged mining p2pool node, but am having some issues. I've read through this thread trying to find out what I'm doing wrong but can't see it I'm afraid. I've set up my zetacoin wallet & it syncs just fine, but I'm obviously missing something cos when I add ZET to my p2pool launch command I get py errors. I see there are a couple of you who have ZET configured with p2pool - any chance of someone letting me have a peep at their .conf file? Or is there a special parameter that I'm missing for p2p/ZET?
I'm running Xubuntu 12.04 64bit - but don't let that fool you, I'm a relative noob to this system so it might help if someone could talk to me like I'm a 10 year old..... Cheesy

Peace.

Zetacoin is not merge-mined. It has its own blockchain.

Zetacoin can only be merge mined if changes to the code are made to allow it. For example namecoin is merge mined by first creating the hash and submitting it to the namecoin network like any other coin. But then that same hash is used as a base to construct a new hash to submit to the bitcoin blockchain. That second part of the merge mine process is what requires zetacoin to make code changes. A hash contains information about transactions in the block so you can't just supply a zetacoin hash to the bitcoin network. It would contain data about zetacoin transactions not bitcoin transactions. So a new hash must be created for bitcoin.

Its theoretically possible because they use the same hash algorithm and it probably wouldn't be all that difficult to implement but it would kill this coin just like it did to every other merge mined coin. Thats why the feature was left out.
