[XPM] Working on a GPU miner for Primecoin, new thread :)

mikaelh wallet rpc ip alow, port, server=1 at appdata for wallet

also using
use_gpu_fermat_test false
 so CPU do a fermat test a lot faster for me... but still GPU usage 7950 is just ~50% and CPU i5 is 80%

still no block and still don`t know how match is it faster then pure i5

also had intel GPU, reaper tried to use it as platform 0 so had to set platform 1 to use ATI GPU in reaper.conf

BTW: win8 x64, 13.8 catalist, AMD sdk 2.81

The situation as like with the ASIC's. If no one would send the money/coins - it would be more profitable. Now the difficulty will increase as usual.

you all should not forget to edit primecoin.conf located in app user folder from your qt wallet
rpcuser=user
rpcpassword=pass
rpcallowip=*
rpcport=9914 <-- or which is used at primecoin.conf in reaper folder should be the same
testnet=0
daemon=1
server=1

the rest should work as default

For some reason if I turn off the fermat test option, it crashes instantly.

and look at platform info or anything else

I do not achieve to compile the app, so I am trying every option on every step...
Also I am not sure if I avoid the following error in good way...

I can assume this last is right done because I obtain [100%] Built target reaper.
However when I run reaper I get this output:

EDIT: This last error with libblkmaker-0.1.so.0 is solved installing bfgminer... it bring the object.

You need to upgrade your amd/nvidia drivers to fix that one, but it will probably still crash after that.

I am using the last beta version of catalyst for linux ( 13.8 ) and it is still happening.

rm .debs/* fixes that.. then the autogen.sh -> ./configure -> make clean && make && make install

So  can compile under linux.  If I run with use_gpu_fermat_test true then I get 0 fermats/s.
Either way, the biggest issue is that if I use anything other than the example address for primecoin_address in primecoin.conf then reaper crashes with an Invalid Address error.  Any ideas?

I am having the same issue when compiling from the source. The build docs mention needing a "prime branch" version of libblkmaker. Possible the zip file listed is still the bitcoin version?

With my windows build if I use the two libblkmaker dlls from the win32-binary directory (vs compiled/include) it works just fine. Further pointing to an issue with those libraries. No help for linux though =/
Self compiled version is a lot more stable...

edit base58.c in the libblkmaker dir and add these middle lines:

      case   0:  // Bitcoin pubkey hash
      case  23:  // Primecoin pubkey hash
      case 111:  // Testnet pubkey hash

and

      case   5:  // Bitcoin script hash
      case  83:  // Primecoin script hash
      case 196:  // Testnet script hash

So, look up those bitcoin/testnet lines and add the primecoin one. Then compile (I had problems with this myself - was really convinced I fixed it earlier but I guess I included an unedited lib after all)

Not sure if all of these things work, for example, I think "roundsievepercentage" may actually do nothing in reaper. Other things, I'm not sure if they have to do with CPU, GPU, or both.

I disabled the gpu fermat test, because it will make everything terribly slow - I guess that part is very beta? In fact, enabling GPU makes things only slightly faster at all. Not sure if this is faster or slower than the 'standard' high performance miner, because there's no non-arbitrary numbers to compare. Haven't found a block so far..
