If the project is really successful, then it will be actively discussed in social networks, and since Telegram is one of the most popular instant messengers among crypto enthusiasts, I think that you are absolutely right.

It is a good indication as it shows the ICO has a lot of followers and a nice community behind it, but it shouldn't be the sole reason for an investment, it is certainly a positive though. Grin

Maybe it is being used that way, but I don't think it is a valid measure. I've had to join a few Telegram channels to participate in Airdrops. Once joined, I never look at them. And I knew nothing about the tokens before joining their channel, and probably won't learn anything about them before playing with the tokens, if they ever come.

So full channels on Telegram are probably a great indicator of how much it is being used to give stuff away. And there is no reason to connect that to the likelihood of the project succeeding.

But Telegram is also a really well designed service that handles large numbers flawlessly. There's a thread that I've posted to about why ICOs use Telegram here:
https://blockchainforums.info/topic/392/is-telegram-useful-to-icos

Cryptocurrencies will level the playing field. I'm paid to write, but not paid to promote.

Well, we cant really assume on that way. Some bounty managers make an allocated bounty campaign for telegram users by just inviting other users. Some of it really didnt join on that telegram group, they just been automatically join by the other users. To assume that the coin you are participating to is good, you must verify it to their whitepaper and to many ICO listings rates.

Been seeing projects' Telegram groups blow up and I think that's an attribute of success. Personally, when I find a project, I do judge them by their social media presence. How active a telegram channel does say a lot with their demand.

With the rise of groups exceeding Telegram's 50k member cap...what do you guys think?

This is what I am saying that even crypto currencies were being banned by google and facebook real project that promoting about cryptos will always have their own way to promote it without the presence of google. Telegram is what I always using to judge the reality of the project and i am not convinced the well-present whitepaper without the support of telegram for whitepaper is just a whitepaper if there is no real hard working team behind to fulfill it.

In my own opinion, telegram is just a way for an ico to build community but still it the success of an ico will be still depending on the investors if most of them will hold the coin in order for the platform to be success.

I think social media are the best ways to promote a project and get investors to invest in that project if they are well designed and well presented. Telegram as a social media platform is a way to promote a project and attract investors because it is used globally. It is easy to access and you only need to post the project in the groups you are into and you get peoples opinion about the work. You can connect easily with as much people as you want on this platform.

This may well be, because as far as I know, Pavel was able to collect a very large amount of money, that public sales were not even needed, so I think that now we just have to wait until Pavel completes what he started very impulsively.

Yes because community involvement can help spread the good news of the ICO. But I don't think of it 100% because i've been into one of the biggest ICO scam in history with a community members in their telegram channel that almost reach 70,000 members who joined. The project really looks promising but nobody really didn't know that it was just a scam.

Telegram only measure how many people are there in a community of an ICO, for me the measurement of ICO success is the number of tokens sold in their token sale.

I think it's just another popular social network. Only it is considered anonymous, which allows more people to participate in this.

The telegram group is very important for community building, but many ICOs try to manipulate the numbers by ofering somthing just for joining, so is not always trustable.

Though it is just a social media, telegram connected people all over the world. It helps for the investors and developers to communicate for the welfare of all. I also set telegram as a standard for a successful ICO because yhe more people joined the telegram, the more it will is popular.

I don't think that the Telegram have been made the ICO. This offer is for a limited number of investors. This can be called not the sale of tokens, but the attraction of investments. Moreover, it is not yet known which product will make the Telegram and maybe it will be a failure.

For me Telegram is just one indicator. In General the use of Social Media is important for new Projekts but will Not guarantee the Success of the project. Most important will stay the roadmap and content the project itself is providing.

sort of, but not all the time, because now a days almost telegram members are fake and most are from air-droppers and few numbers are concerned about the project plan about progressing state. much better to look hardly the project for future usage and can benefit for all of us.
