Its a great tool in online communication but I consider more great feedbacks on their announcement thread, there's a case that people invited on a telegram group even they are not interested to join to. There's a fake account as well. Not reliable measure but its a great way of communication for the security that it can give.

I think it is one measure of the success of a project and I consider this factor before I invest in any ICO . However, I have seen some Telegram groups of ICOs  with few participants blow up all of a sudden.

Projects can motivate people to subscribe to their chat (channel) in Telegram with the help of free distribution of a large number of tokens, that is, using airdrop, so I think that not always a large number of subscribers in Telegram means that the project can be successful.

In my opinion, Telegram ICO is a big beautiful bubble that was inflated before the sales started on the market, PR and advertising almost any project can make a star. I hope the Telegram does not burst before exit on ICO,

If you see a large number of members in a group in a new project, then for sure it is manipulation. This is just a marketing strategy, which is used by some projects. I do not think that a large number of members will bring great success. Any project needs an intelligent investor, not a large number of bots.

I have to agree. it could be that marketing is doing well, but the project itself isn't really that good. btw, does anyone here know if Menlo One is a good project? It is launching a token sale this July & I think this is the first time there's ever going to be an ICO marketplace where. It's whitepaper can be viewed here https://www.menlo.one  Any thoughts?

Not at all. Most of the telegram groups are filled with bot accounts.
The only measure of ICO success I see is endorsement by popular celebrities, traditional media and at current time most importantly license from authority.

Judging the popularity of the project through social media participants is a very good method. If a project has high popularity, then the project has already succeeded in half of what it does. After all, this market needs participants and funds.

Even if the number of telegram members is manipulated or not, I don't think this determines the success of an ICO. I think what really matters is the project itself and how unique it is compared to hundreds of different projects it is competing with. That being said, you guys should check out Boltcoin, Menlo One, and Aethion. I think these have some potential in gaining massive adoption in the mid to long term.

You can judge an ICO from its telegram channel because it's the best place where team can interact with investors and supporters. Most of good ICO are having a locked channel for announcements, bounty channel and another channel where team interact with investors.

Group size is not an indicator of company success. Therefore, I believe that telegrams is one way to promote.

Been seeing projects' Telegram groups blow up and I think that's an attribute of success. Personally, when I find a project, I do judge them by their social media presence. How active a telegram channel does say a lot with their demand.

With the rise of groups exceeding Telegram's 50k member cap...what do you guys think?

Article: https://news.bitcoin.com/telegram-followers-the-new-metric-for-cryptocurrency-success/

Telegram is not just the only social media existed, so you should not be solely check the members of telegram then, okay! You are willing to invest. No no no my dear, be more doubtful or skeptical. Assess the ICOs existence participation in Facebook, Twitter, Telegram, etc. Because to think about, prospet investors are anywhere. They can be scrolling in facebook, tweeting on twitter or etc.

For me yes, it is. Number of telegram members shows the hype of the project. But not always. But we can assume that if the number of members are high then the attraction of the people to the project is high.

I don't think so  because most telegram ICO brings people into their telegram channel using airdrop to bring them in. they are not there for the seek of the project but to get airdrop. So you see telegram I dont think it should be used to measure ICO success

There is a big difference between a good project and a project that brings good profits. A large number of participants in groups tells me only about the popularity and possible manipulation of the developers. I'm not sure that such a project will bring me a profit.

Telegram is a means of user communication or may be an indicator of community activity. I think the community activity of an ICO coin is needed to support the success of an ICO.

To an extent, telegram is the major determinant of a project success. Through telegram group admin gives regular updates about the project.

Not exactly but  telegram helps the ICO in many different ways. Like it is media friendly and helps in promotion of an ICO just like Facebook and Twitter. It also works as a medium where group of people interacting and sharing their own view.
