Yung Mercury miner is 100 GH/s. So I think they divided it into 10 shares of 10 GH/s each.

hi guys, it's quite late if we organize this knc mercury group buy as others are weeks ahead of us na.  anyway, as long as we will have our principal investment back, we can take this risk.  for this 1 unit mercury project, the objective is to personally experience real asic mining here.  if the cost is 100k, then we can divide it to 20 shares, each costing around 5k only.  as for hostig, maybe dabs you can host it as you're the most senior in this group.  and i believe you have the army to guard this 100k unit hahaha.  as for the electricity, i believe you can get it for free too hehehe.

normally, that's not really allowed, and the power sometimes gets cut off. I'll have to talk to the group commander about this, even though I'm an officer, everyone there out ranks me (captain, major, colonel, general).

Also, the camp office where I am has NO INTERNET connection. Who's going to pay for that? PLDT won't go inside, I'd need to use a wireless USB thing or whatever, (Globe Invisible or Smart Broken, and Sun doesn't work at night.)

And if they realize this thing is making money, heh, you can expect a "deduction" from mining profits. Can't lie to them and say "Sir, it's a computer that will run all day, consuming 500 watts."

On the other hand, I know a couple of private data centers located in Makati owned and run by another officer, whose main business is IT related. Maybe I could talk to that guy instead, at least hosting / electricity will be properly accounted for. If this interests you, I'll ask, but I don't want to bother him.

That one, is not guarded by the army, just by the Mayor of Makati.

just curious, if this is group buy is successful, is it feasible we make our own mining pool? or is it much feasible if we join other pools?

dabs, will your services (i.e. hosting) allow personal mining rigs as well?

if the interest is in earning btc, i think its better to join other knc group buy as they have better technical knowhow ang experience in mining, plus many of them will let knc host their miners.  the main objective for this project is to experience personally here how asic mining works.  if we earn btc, better.  if not, the lost would be minimize as we'll share the losses among us.  but i think we would lose our investment if the miner is broken and we couldn't fix it, or if the miner will be stolen.
