I don't qualify for your rules, but I like what you are doing. You are helping to move around the merit points because you can and you have set forth a criteria. That would have been a better way for them to roll out the system. I hope more people like you launch these types of threads. I'm a BTC guy. Not 100% but it's really the only safe long play, as time has shown us all.

I gave you 5 to get you started. Your post history shows you’re a btc guy. Come back in six months and let me evaluate you again and maybe you’ll get more.

Thanks man. Yeah, I felt a little left out in the cold with this whole merit thing. I appreciate the support. I remember when all those alts were coming out...namecoin, peercoin, whatevercoin. Where are they now? The new people have no idea how quickly interest in random alts goes away when BTC sinks low. I always laugh at those jokers who say BTC will go away. Never. It is the first, most stable, most supported and that's not going to change. Wish I had bought more...  Wink

The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

I already attempted this but I was deemed an altcoin supporter.  Don't see the harm in supporting bitcoin and alts which serve a good purpose like privacy.

Whatever, props to the OP anyways for his efforts.

I respect the opinion of the creator of this topic and I believe that such people are needed by the forum, as they are trying to combat the trend of bitcoin, which is now on the way to centralization and turns into a speculative toy of traders. But I think that ignoring alternative coins is a mistake, because there are projects that offer much more in technological terms than bitcoin.

Ok, this topic really looks creepy, anyway giving merits to potentially good users are a very kind on this forum highest people really need this support. Have seen that you have given the pretty large amount of merits to a lot of users. I will request you to kindly slow down your limits on each user so you can at least help the system so each user can just get encouraged and not get greedy over it. I mean we all want users to learn something and share it with all the other users but you can not just give 50 points to a single post. I mean it does attract everyone and I think you should give a highest like 5 merits to each user. I am not ordering I am just advising. no offense.

*snip*

There is nothing wrong with the way OP is distributing merit.

This is a few pages back but it explains the stance regarding how many merits will be handed out via this thread.

That’s easy to say when you don’t need the merit. Steamtyme is right, if you read the OP and some of the thread you’ll know what I’m doing.

Very good thread OP.
I still have mixed feelings about the merit system. I almost used up all my Smerit and sometimes I see very worthy posts which I would like to reward with merit but then end up only giving 1 or 2 points for the above mentioned scarcity.
I think the drawback is also a tendency towards circlejerking/centralization.

One thing I would suggest to consider implementing is a demerit system where unworthy merited posts (e.g. circlejerking, merit sales, loopholes, etc) can be downmerited by users sending their sdemerit points.

Just my 2 sats.

EDIT
One good example of a thread where utterly useless and silly posts get merited in a shitfest of favours is https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178336.0;topicseen
90% of the posts are completely off topic or shitposts.

You will be working for 20 merit points. Good luck to all. I will announce when they’re gone and lock the thread.

Wow this is half a year old thread! But hey, if it's not locked yet then I guess I'm not too late, right?
I'd like to take you up on your very generous offer @QuestionAuthority.

I'm following the trend about a year now, but I created an account here after the merit system was implemented, therefore I worked my way from 0 merits to 29. The next step looks very distant and lately I feel like people have stoped being generous with their merits, maybe the users started to dry up?

So as you requested, here are some of my latest posts BUT it's not all about BTC, I'm supporting BTC and 4 altcoins, I hope I'm not out of the criteria.

A bit indirect, but the last sentence of the post kinda proves my plans to save up on BTC (and altcoins) in order to use them for purchases in the future, but I repeat it's indirect so moving on...

My bullish analysis for BTC on 22/6 for a final price crash (and then bullrun) to bellow 6.000$ which was reached 7 days later and until now it seems to be the bottom.

Good day. Can you tell me is any special topics for getting merit or if I write posts in topic "off-topic", this is the same with other topics?
Thanks.

This is one such topic and then the OP has linked 2 more threads. But I don't think you have much of a chance to get merits if you don't even read the first post of a topic before you post.

You can try your luck in other giveaways. Op has mentioned the terms of this giveaway very clear in the thread.

There are some members who will appreciate your contributions in alt coin section as well. Or may be you can come up with some comparison between bitcoin and leading alt coins and apply again if still interested. Good luck.

And OP, I really liked your comment where you mentioned "I do not consider Bitcoin cash as Bitcoin". Only if the investors being fooled had same consideration.

Not too much if the demerit can only remove merit given in a specific post.
I.E. if a post hasn't been merited, it can't be demerited.
