For large projects it makes sense. On them you can evaluate the real situation in the ICO. It is very difficult to find information on small startups.

Yes, whitepaper is the most effective helper for assessing the real state of affairs in the ICO. In most cases it is very difficult to find information.

I read whitepapers, especially the technical part. I have a background in software engineering and like to hear about new technologies coming out, as well as how complicated or feasible they seem before I invest any money. It also lets me look at the team and their experience or projects if they've listed them on LinkedIn to see if they appear capable of delivering.

As a rule of thumb, solid projects have good* whitepapers, but a good whitepaper is not enough to ascertain whether the project is solid. You need to check other sources of information too - are the team's social profiles legit? Do they really have relevant industry experience and an entrepreneurial track record? You may even have to do some thinking yourself, like about whether or not there is a market gap to be filled by the project. * good = well-written, without typos, and most importantly: sufficient technical detail, extensive market research and no repeating of buzzwords like "disrupting" and "decentralized" over and over

Reading the whole whitepaper can be stressful. Personally what I do is to check the essential part of the whitepaper. E.g The problem it is solving How it works The roadmap The team etc

If I'm interested in the ICO, of course I'll read the whitepaper! There are so many really useful information there! So how will you identify, is it worth your attention, time and money

I think it is a necessity because you are going to invest into a project so you have to read all the important points that are on the project and that is to prevent your money from being wasted free to ICO scam and you will not lose.

If you want to invest in a project, it is necessary to study all investors in a white paper. If there is no information about the project, it is very dangerous to invest in the project, and we can easily put ourselves in danger without knowledge. There is no shortcut to invest money in the encrypted currency.

Reading whitepaper is obligatory for full understanding of the idea of the project and plans for its realization. Especially at investment as it is necessary to consider all risks. Even simple participation in a bounty-campaign doesn't do without profound studying of this document to exclude or reduce probability of roguish projects

Of course I read whitepaper, it is obligotary. If you want to invest in project, you need to learn its purpose, background, team, total supply and value of tokes, and so many things more. So, I don't understand how to invest without reading whitepaper.

If I am going to invest in an ICO or participate in a bounty then I will definitely read whitepaper. Without reading whitepaper, it is impossible to form a clear idea of the project and its goals.

Certainly not all the material on whitepaper that I read. Just substantial point, such as what this project offers and steps to achieve it. Maybe this is trivial but in my other point is rather important are: Logo, Project and Coin name, and Initiator country.

Let be real. How many of you guys actually read the whitepaper? I read whitepaper sometimes, but reading multiple of them can be a burden and a headache. Do you guys got any tips on getting through whitepaper a little faster. It killing a lot of time. Thank.
I think doing translation bounty is really interesting: we can read whitepaper and have some token after their ICO. In many cases i can say reading whitepaper is the most important thing if you want invest in an ICO, cause you can evaluate it's a potential or just a "fiction" project
