According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

OK, my client is running. Yet, I don't have real mining hardware and therefore I have to give HBN a try with the integrated CPU Mining from the client. Is there a chance to find some blocks at the current difficulty with CPUMining?

(I know that CPU mining is not effecient in the long run, but before I invest money in hardware I want to learn about the process itself )

Yes you might get a block or 2 a day. I did the same thing when I started too.  I have a vid card that is 74hk/s running for 217216 seconds or 2.5 days and has hit about 17 blocks.

OK sounds good for the beginning. Just another question. Is it better to run hobonickelsd with "setgenerate true" or is it also possible to use cpuminer connecting to the hobonickelsd?

I think minerd is more efficient, and yes it will connect as long as you are running in server mode.

Hey guys, I was wondering about the 2% stakes... I've had some HOBO in my wallet for over 10 days and didn't see any deposit for the 2%, how is the 2% working really, shouldn't I see some "stake" activity every 10 days ?

thanks for clarifying this out for me

As long as you haven't moved your coins they will stake. Give it a bit longer. Mine take between 10-12 days to stake. 10 days is the start of stake time. Can take as long as 30. Each day the coins weight is higher so it will have better chance of staking. But your % of stake will also increase, so really nothing is lost when it takes a bit longer.

All right, i'll still keep an eye on it... it's been 12 days since the first input so I guess it could be anytime now!

thanks for the quick response.

Another thing where could I read to learn more about the staking process ?

I did the repairwallet command it it said some coins were affected and that's it.
Quote
{
"mismatched spent coins" : 12,
"amount affected by repair" : 55.01779500
}
My wallet still has a bunch of orphaned transactions that are sitting at the top of my list, along with unconfirmed amount just sitting there.

Is there a way for this to go away? it's getting hard to see my current transactions from the orhpans.

yes start the qt with -salvagewallet   It will take a while to startup. You will lose your addressbook, so export it first. Also backup you wallet first as well.

You can also just sort by date, instead of by status.

yeah, was moving 6k of HBN to my other wallet right when the rollback happened. Was a little worried lol.

Was moving it so I can see a few large groups of POS's instead of the crazy amounts of small ones constantly

yes I like 1k blocks, they stake nicely, not a lot lost if you get orphaned, and they will split down for months before you need to recombine.
