I try identify the form factor of the USB connection on the board.
Is it mini USB .... or micro USB?

    one4many
It's a 5 pin Mini-B.

Nice.  That's what all the other USB miners I have use *except* for my bitburner which uses a micro.  I much prefer the mini-style.

Thx ... this is just what I needed ... need to order a few ... still prefer to use chaining ;-) If it would have been ready.

Where can i find the latest firmware for the chilis?  I have one that won't start hashing and is reporting to cgminer as a BAJ instead of an ls.  I figure it was a bad flash or something stupid like that as it's brand new.

The boards are back at the assembly house, and the good news is that the pads are much better. We have a couple where the second pass of the air knocked some of the mask off between some pads, but not enough that it will affect any customer's boards.

BAL 0 is Chili, BAL 1 and 2 are Coinado and Cointamination (no we didn't get it working with new chips it runs with samples)

Most likely not all your chips are making contact. Had this problem myself once or twice while trying different coolers.

There are many causes mentioned in the thread but it seems to me most revolve around no backplate or uneven chips. If you're using TIM try adding a small amount of thermal grease between the TIM and cooler.

If you're not using a backplate then over tightening bends the board away from the cooler base.

I have backplate and this is not hot restart... I can just plug it in and start cgminer. I get it every time. And it gets cooler when it runs... So no it must be something else... Error reporting temp?

Overheat at startup then cooling and hashing later.  The time scale is only 41 seconds from first flag to clean hashing. It does prove the cooling is working.
Has anyone else looked this close in the startup log?
Can the miner be made to display the chip number, it almost looks like first hash is failing on each chip (9 fails) then starting correctly when the cooler is settled down.

cgminer is stopping work because one of the cores is too hot. I find that will happen if I haven't done a good job of mounting the heatsink; I'll see most of the chips sitting at 60-70 and one will shoot up to 100. The back and forth with cgminer is something we'll fix in a FW update, but the root cause is bad heatsink contact.

Remember that you want your cooling solution to give good force pressing the ASICs to the heatsink (force is the red arrows, BTW) without doing so asymmetrically which will bend the PCB and give bad contact on the center ASICs.

Will look into it but since reported temperature starts at 35 and go to 66 I don't think this is it... Unless we don't see highest temperature reported...

Is there a way to show all the chip temps? To show consistency of overheat?

Don't forget to cool the Mosfets.  My core temp rose from 52c to 70c and hash rate went up from 32Gh to 37Gh (unfortunately the power draw goes up as well)

Replaced thermal pads... And problem fixed... But why I didn't see this hi temperature reported in cgminer? And got speed for 37.2 to 39.8 Smiley

I'm actually not sure, obviously it's getting reported to cgminer since it is throttling. It must be displaying just one of the temps and not the other.

As for reporting all of them, it's in the works probably through a custom Z*X command. We just need to implement it, and then get support added to the mining software.

Is there any way we can get the source to the FW?
