@genie You are saying there's an error in the algo? Or the pools?
15+% orphaned blocks indicate error in algo...but should be "patch-able"?
Just trying to understand.
The issue is not the pools otherwise it wouldn't be all throughout the network with several different types of pool servers having the exact same issue. The issue seems to be that the wallet ignores consensus in that, anytime a block is sent out with a timestamp older than the most currently accepted block, the entire chain gets orphaned to the point where that block would have been the "next block" and only blocks built on that one are then considered valid. An overly simplified example would be.... The current chain is: Block AAAAAB - timestamp 9:15:02 Block AAAAAC - timestamp 9:15:06 Block AAAAAD - timestamp 9:16:02 Block AAAAAE - timestamp 9:16:32 Block AAAAAF - timestamp 9:17:15 Block AAAAAG - timestamp 9:17:27 Block AAAAAH - timestamp 9:17:43 And there exists a previously unaccepted: Block AAAABA - timestamp 9:15:04 (built upon AAAAAB) When AAAABA gets broadcast to enough nodes, the fact that 6 blocks have been built upon AAAAAB (and rendered valid by consensus) becomes irrelevant, blocks AAAAAC through AAAAAH get orphaned and the new chain becomes: Block AAAAAB - timestamp 9:15:02 Block AAAABA - timestamp 9:15:04 Block AAAABB - the next block the network is working on. It creates "nice" doublespend attack opportunities for anyone using a merchant that uses less than 7 confirmations (fact, not FUD). If this is what is happening, there is a basic coding error somewhere. Longest chain is supposed to win. One latecomer block should not possibly invalidate a longer 6 block prong.

That's what I'm saying too.

As i told you all before , we have LOTS of communication with several People :-) :-) Hello Glen, I am not sure where before it was mentioned, but could you elaborate on who DEM has been talking with and what kind of implementation of the coin may be possible?

Hello fellow crypto coiners. My emark wallet is stuck. It will not sync up the last 2 weeks. This would help me get back to mining. When I go to console mode, off of the help feature, there is no way to accelerate the sync process. If there are a 1000 coins that another feature of the help menu tags, there is probably no other way to retrieve them without the sync matching.
If the wallet fails to sync completely, no way to retrieve the coins, then would it work to delete the wallet completely and then download it again?
One of the attractions of this coin, seems to me, is that it has been stable. A good track record except for this wallet bug I gotta squach. Whats with the double spend deal?
Thanks.

...Whats with the double spend deal?
To put this in the simplest terms, let's suppose: You spend 200DEM at MarketA. MarketA has a policy where they consider your purchase completed at 6 confirmations. A block is found and it contains your transfer. 5 more blocks are found and your transfer now has 6 confirmations. The chain is "reorganized" and the block that initially contained your transaction is no longer "valid". The "new" chain doesn't contain your transaction. You can now spend the same coins at MarketB. If the transaction for MarketB is placed into the "new" chain (and confirmed by the extension of the "new" chain) before your original transfer to MarketA, MarketA will never get paid. You now have 200DEM worth of items from MarketA and 200DEM worth of items from MarketB; meanwhile, you only spent 200DEM.

You can deny, ignore, and/or be as delusional as you like;however, it happens multiple times every day where 6 eMark blocks are reorged for 1 or 2 and the new blocks do not contain some/all/any of the transactions from the orphaned chain. You "putting me on ignore" and/or your denial doesn't change facts. It is a fact that, in the long run, eMark is unsafe for any merchant to use if they accept anything less than 7 confirmations.

Glen, it's sad to see how juvenile you are about this. This is another one of those times where you need to stop pretending like you're a dev, take your fanboy attitude out of the conversation, and come back when you've actually followed enough of the chain to render a valid opinion.

I can't help the fact that you can't read a log. I've posted, more than 1 time, the exact issue ( using actual logs and actual blocks). Perhaps, you should stay out of this part of the conversation and leave the technical stuff to the technical people...

That wasnt the question my dear.
I asked about an TX you personally send to an Exchange and it fails like your DoubleSpend Scenario.
If you cant read , then give me the Reason why i should discuss this more.
Btw, got Popcorn and wait for next .... , amusing Talk after Company Meeting. Seems to me to calm down :-)
Edit: set reIgnore back to normal , seems to be a nice Talk. And yes i can read Logs, how many u want ?

@Glen, Until you can get off of this "send to an Exchange" obsession of yours (when I'm discussing real-world usages of the coin), you're of no use in this conversation. I repeat: ...It is a fact that, in the long run, eMark is unsafe for any merchant to use if they accept anything less than 7 confirmations.

mhmhm and why eMark got 10 Confirmations for mature ?
Did anyone said that Clients ( Wallets , Exchanges , Merchants .... ) dont use 10 Confirmations ? , if an Merchant means 1 Conformation is enough he ignores , and thats HIS Problem
oh come on, gimme more ... Popcorn taste good .

@glen, I realize that you're a bit dense, but you are smart enough to know that many places use 6 confirmations as an " industry standard", aren't you? Logically, the entire point of 2 minute blocks is a faster usage rate than a more supported coin that has longer block times (such as BTC or ETH). You get that, right? If you have to extend the number of confirmations, then you don't actually have a faster usage rate. You get that, right? If the time from initiating a transaction to the time the transaction is "safely" validated is longer than a more mainstream coin (such as BTC or ETH), then there is no value in a merchant using eMark. You get that, right? Not everyone uses a QT wallet. You get that, right?

is it only me ( a dense Guy ) that realize that you ALWAYS denied to discuss what 1 minute before ? what you want to say with this BS about Industry Standard ? what talk about faster usage rate ? have we/me/others talk about that ? what EXACTLY you want to talk about ? i think we find out that you arent able to communicate on the right Level .. Could be cause its not Face/Face or could be cause we spoke about different Things, You know the Specs of eMark https://github.com/emarkproject/eMark#emark-specificationand the Specs are the written in Stone ( or a Hardfork with other Specs will overwrite ) and if Confirmations set to 10 ( safely ) with BT from 2 Minutes every Child can compute that a fully and safe Transaction take 20 Minutes about +- soooo , that the Fact and BTC got 10 Minutes BT and 6 Confirmations Safe = 1 Hour +- what you talk about ...... If you wish to make an Coin what YOU want , make it and for Gods Sake .... DO IT ! for all your RealWorld Use , for all what u want , but DO IT So now really EOD , cause a had to diskuss more and better @Skype Chat eMark at 9PM Glen pls , dont answer . its useless.
