It can possibly rise, but not necessarily. It all comes down on what the GLD team/community does.

"I'd like to pay with Goldcoin!"

I bet that's what most people in the normal population would rather say when asking to pay for something!

Great name!

It will be good when this catches on.  Grin

Thanks for all the info!  Cool

I updated to 0.7.1.5 a couple of hours ago, my pools had ~10 000kh/s going towards GLD since I updated and its found 12 blocks so far but 10 are orphans and I suspect the other two will be orphaned as well. I'm doing fine with connections and the block chain is on 113945 which matches the coinchoose wallet, is there something wrong with this new wallet or is the pool really that unlucky?

Its the 51% defense, it causes the difficulty to move slowly, thus your not unlucky  Cool

I've just registered on http://gld.minepool.net and started to mine, but I have the following problem:

I can see my hashrate but it doesn't show the number of shares!
I know the reward system is proportional, but why cannot I see how many shares I contributed until the block is found?
Is it the way it should be?

So the problem is with the larger hashrate? How long does this hashrate need to be sustained until it stops orphaning every block? The pools been mining @ 10000kh/s for about 5 hours now and still sees the orphaned blocks. Does this mean I have to explain to every large hasher it'll take days before anything they mine actually counts for something?

My understanding is that the multipool mining of Goldcoin is now impractical.

My users mining GLD weren't mining through multipool, they were mining for 5 hours non stop but have given up now as every block was orphaned.

Adding hashpower to the network too quickly will result in this behavior.

This is by design and described in detail here: https://www.gldtalk.org/index.php?topic=1262.msg6081#msg6081

This has been solved .. now we are waiting to see whats going on now that we've upgraded the client to 7.1.5...hitting alot of blocks but it seems odd.

Well as it stands now, our pool is on track and on the right blockchain.  http://gld.minepool.net/

We are sorry it was a rough transition to the new client.

We , for a while there, were trying to figure out why the pool hashrate was way above the reported network hash rate.  from what i'm reading.. this is part of the new features and the 51% attack defense and is ok?
