So sad that there are some ICOs who are just making money for their own sake. You are right, especially now that there are too many scam projects in the cryptospace, nearly 90% of project are just fundraising without any development since their initial aim is just to gather some $ and run please dyor before any investment.

I absolutely agreed with the OP on why we should research before investing or joining any ICO, I was victim of a scam project i.e scam ICO known as bidium I invested much in their project and actively participated in the promotion of that project however in the long run investors funds were collected and the project managers went into thin air this is a very bad experience it was my first encounter with a failed and scam project however I have put that behind me and ensured that I researched thoroughly before investing in any new ICO

It takes a lot of reading to find a good project. Finding review is a good way of searching wether a project is good or not, the community behind a project will say it all. It is also must to consider whose the team working behind it and how credible they are. The larger the community also is a big factor, the larger it is, the better the future it has. You might wanna try investing on Hodler, they have active team working on the development of their project. Great project and read a lot bout them.

That is a big challenge for us, for the increase numbers of projects existed today we can't easily find whose gonna be legit and have a good market in the future. It somehow we need to sacrifice some things and need to extract some more efforts finding the right one otherwise will just fall into scam projects.

To anticipate this, we must understand how people's thinking patterns, especially for those (former victims of ICO fraud) who tend to think negatively about crypto currencies, mean they have never studied or researched themselves on the positive benefits that crypto currencies bring. If that's the case, don't be surprised if in the end there is a negative assumption in the community, that this cryptocurrency is worthless and is only a blah scheme blah blah. If we leave this kind of assumption scattered, of course this misguided assumption will teach nonsense and break people's interest and enthusiasm towards the great benefits of crypto currencies.

The solution was earlier, they had to research and understand the performance of cryptocurrency, because the real crypto performance is media which always provides an opportunity for success for anyone. Even though there are those who commit fraud, I think unethical!, if we accuse it only on cryptocurrencies because as we know that cryptocurrency's just a medium/capital to look for fortune, both to enrich themselves (such as expected by many people) and as well as other positive interests.

Investing in ICO is risky but may be very profitable even more then investing in bitcoin. Off course investing requires some research first. So what you need to is first is deep research on upcoming ICO. Evaluate the team behind project, see if there is tread here on forum, evaluating the whitepaper, look for websites that gives detailed information (SOME THAT I USE: ICO Watchlist (Highly recommended!), ICO Data, ICO Rating and  Coin Schedule).

If somehow all this comes to satisfy you then considering investing in ICO. Create you trust scale and sometimes is good to take risk cuz with minimum investment you can gain huge return.

Being vigilant is one of the good way to avoid scam project.  There is a lot of project now are scam and failure to meet the hard cap so the investor lose their money too. Investing is good to your money to grow but investment also can cause to you to lose your money too once you invest your money to the wrong investment. Careful means you will limit also investing to ICO or to the projects.

Investors should be vigilant and do thorough research and investigation to ascertain the genuineness of otherwise of any project you want to invest on.

First of all, investment should be done after through study and research. This is true for both investment in the sites and in the altcoins for trading. A Good investment can make you very rich in a short period of time , while a bad investment can make you lose big money. 
You should spend some time in research before you actually make the decision of investing.

But despite of you're losses you're still investing crypto. May I suggest to find another strategy that works well or just to spend more time in searching the good project cause I believe that there something wrong with your strategies and the way you choose. Doing my own findings before investing into any project in cryptocurrency is one of the crypto rules that I do not joke with and it has been my saving grace.

Mostly new investor fall in this trap and scammer project also target them. Nowadays most of the traders investing money in crypto to be a reach quickly. They are thinking Crypto market is a quick money maker that's why they are falling into the trap of scammer even old trader because of the proper knowledge.

I think IEO on exchanges like Binance, bittrex and kucoin should not be missed and advantage should be taken from them. I have seen people 3x - 5x money from these IEO. Also the losing percentage in these IEO is very less.

my advice for now is not to invest in ico first, because the market situation is falling and the number of scammers who are looking for opportunities in situations like this is getting higher. different if the market situation is falling. if you want to invest, do it with bitcoin or etherum.

There are numerous coins on the market yet not all of these coins are worth investing hence investors are required to do personal research into projects and coins before investing.
