There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. Headeronly clients like Bither trust that the majority of mining power is honest for the purposes of enforcing network rules such as the 21 million BTC limit. Full clients do not trust miners in this way.

I guess it's 1 time over 10000 times you roll. Without interruptions of sleep and such, without counting the luck you have, it would take 416 days straight to win the 10K prize.

Haha yeah, I do make a profit but it is quite small. This takes up all my free time, I had a couple of other ideas but they have been moved to the back burner for now. I try to keep adding features to the site, have a big update coming in a couple of weeks.

Here is an excellent post from Portnoy about why faucets are not as much of a waste of time as many people may think : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=74046.msg1088930#msg1088930Of course, working for Bitcoins or buying them directly is the best way to get a lot of coins fast but I don't think people who used to do Gavin's original faucet (which gave out 5 bitcoins every dispense back in the day) regret spending a couple of minutes a day doing it. If you believe in Bitcoin and think that it's value will only appreciate in the long term, spending a couple of minutes a day doing faucets may end up to be well worth your time in a couple of years.

wetsuit, could you please implement a feature that would allow automatic sharing? Once I almost forgot to share the commissions. The time had run out but you hadn't yet sent the money, so I was just in time...

63% after 20,000rolls means the probability is greater than 1/20,000
I calculated "63% after 20,000 rolls" exactly from 1/20,000 probability It's how probabilities work: if probability of an event is 1/n, and you perform n trials (and n is a big number), usually you'll get ~ 63% probability of getting an event at least once, because 1 1/e ~ 0.63 (if you would do the math, it's easy to show this is the limit when n>infinity). ***People that have a lot of affiliates don't even get one of their affiliate to roll 10,000 : Amount wonnumber of affiliates 60.25252830 BTC 7748 70.20269780 BTC 1059 80.20220446 BTC 1182 90.19664634 BTC 575
The important number here is a total amount of rolls by all affiliates, if most of those 8000 affiliates done just a few rolls, this isn't so strange.

It is possible that those affiliates only did a few rolls each but my affiliates still do more than 1roll/each/week after 2months so I presumed they got similar stats but all affiliates may not be created equal You are right for the 63% I remembered it being 5358% but your math is correct here; 1/20,000 is pretty good, let's roll! Can you calculate how much he get from publicity per roll compared to how much he gives away?

Can you calculate how much he get from publicity per roll compared to how much he gives away?
Too many unknowns, do you want to start a similar faucet? I can tell you probabilities of payouts, and therefore average payout from one roll (without referrals): [0 9885]: ~ 1/20000 + 9885/10000 = 0.98855 [9886 9985] ~ (99859886+1)/10000 = 0.01 (~ once per 100 rolls) [9986 9993] ~ (99939986+1)/10000 = 0.0008 (~ once per 1250 rolls) [9994 9997] ~ (99979994+1)/10000 = 0.0004 (~ once per 2500 rolls) [9998 9999] ~ (99999998+1)/10000 = 0.0002 (~ once per 5000 rolls) [10000] ~ 1/20000 = 0.00005 (~ once per 20 000 rolls) sanity check: 0.98855+0.01+0.0008+0.0004+0.0002+0.00005 = 1 average payout (using values right now): (0.98855*0.00000438)+(0.01*0.00004376)+(0.0008*0.00043764)+(0.0004*0.00437637)+(0.0002*0.04376368)+(0.00005*0.43763676) = 0.00003750 BTC Whoa, that's much bigger than I thought, but math checks out, it seems.
