You could check out this reddit post which has a breakdown. https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/8mmi6p/verge_gets_51_attacked_so_hard_that_they_steal/

And can't forget this little image from way back as they attacked Shield.

Ya, I remember his butthurt in XSH thread.  Smiley Now looks like soon verge will become poor clone of SHIELD.

Well after reading this, its plain obvious XVG are copying XSH -SHIELDS code. Just sold my XVG bag and i'm switching to XSH

XVG Scammers

https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@methoncrypto/verge-gets-51-attacked-so-hard-that-they-steal-shield-s-code-and-lie-about-it

Hahaha, that post is hard to argue with. Why are the XVG devs even trying? There's nothing wrong to get inspiration and from other people's code. That's why open source is great. Just fucking admit it and move on!

Trying to make up their own truth just makes them look stupid and childish.

Arguing with GitHub commit dates are about as smart as arguing with data on the block chain.

Not smart.

Quite simply, it appears to be a double spend.

There's lots of them too..

Gee, I wonder why they have to keep adjusting down the block reward for miners.

OHH, and it looks like the original attackers are successfully (I mean, you know, I am assuming here at this point) conducting their mining attack again.

https://verge-blockchain.info/address/DT6njVVHhthnKtZAoDCx5Xug4G6xtLsDrP

Quite a few blocks over the past few days. 142,853,089 total xvg stolen, essentially (assuming we can still trust the data on this block explorer).

I don't see why anyone else doesn't see this happening. It's that hard to set up some alerts on data we have - known attacker addresses still filling to the brim with coins?

Sorry, but it's over for Verge.

[edit] for clarity, that is 142,853,089 xvg in one address of attacker wallet. Pretty sure there were hundreds, if not thousands more addresses posted by OCMiner

Stats on XVG Blake2s algo / pools seem off to me.. I have suspicion about it.

This address seems odd:

https://verge-blockchain.info/address/D6boDuZ9vWbKRhMBrUdZBYSdZWaiGuWgAk

Anyone else noticing anything?

In reference to that address, not only are timestamps off:

Hi, CHIEF56 i read now your post. This address is my pool adress (antminepool.com)
Effectively the official verge explorer show as a valid generated block (with confirmation) but in my wallet is marked as orphan block.
Code:
/usr/local/bin/VERGEd gettransaction fb2d402e64099839d114ad25b252e4d2b22ba14f6ab19c82bf984127e840b1e4

Probably downloading the entire blockchain and rescanning all transactions i can recover the block if the official verge explorer is the correct one

Interesting, and strange. I'd like to know what you find. I've not had time to try to install verge core and download the entire chain to check myself.

I checked now in all my 3 wallets (same wallet.dat) and it is orphan in all. I think is a verge explorer issue or probably the block was initially confirmed and later orphan.
The block height was 2219796 ops sorry 2219797

yes this is the pool address D6boDuZ9vWbKRhMBrUdZBYSdZWaiGuWgAk

And most large/reputable Lyra2rev2 pools I see - all orphaned blocked over past hour.

Probably the version number is higher than that, but that's ok.

Is something bad happened again?
It is bad for the developers and for the users of Verge that an attack happen again and again. I think they have to consult with some more expert developers and have to find out some better solution for to fix the issue.

Is something bad happened again?
It is bad for the developers and for the users of Verge that an attack happen again and again. I think they have to consult with some more expert developers and have to find out some better solution for to fix the issue.

Seriously, i even don't think anymore it's an attack .....

Things are to supsect by now viewing the last 3 months what happens at verge.

- first a crowdfund of 75M XVG to used for the mega ultra partnership, damn, who the hell pays for a partnership? You are a client or buyer if you pay for something. However, nothing left from these 75M XVG neither the deal was exclusively as announced, makes it even more suspect that something was paid with these XVG

- than day after day millions of XVG get time spoofed. Come one, nobody lets day by day over weeks now millions of XVG going like that. In my opinion that's a pure inside job and would as well explain the reason why it never get fixed ...

That's of course just my opinion and i could be totally wrong. But seeing what's going on there day by day it's the closest by now possible scenario.

Sounds like attack v3.0 now

Probably the version number is higher than that, but that's ok.

Basically, you have to ask yourself some questions.

Are the XVG devs really so incompetent that they just don't know how to fix it, thus leaving the chain open to attack (which is currently happening)?

Or, are they failing to properly secure their coin for another reason altogether.
