I wonder how many accounts have been left to die out of the 9k or so accounts right now...with people just trying to cheat the system and make multiple accounts to get the 2 or so Nxt per each and send them to one acccount, or just because they send to stronger account passphrase...  Tongue

I created 2 accounts for me personally...first one wasn't strong enough password so I created a new account and sent my Nxt to it lol. Tongue

Can someone perhaps provide rough estimates on number of darkNXT accounts and their total amount?

~250M @ 1000+ accounts.

Edit: U should start from one with almost 50M on it.

Holy crap, that is a LOT.

holy crap that IS a lot.

You're saying that a quarter of all NXT is permanently out of circulation only a couple of months after it was minted in the Genesis Block?Huh

That sounds, um, kinda serious to me.  I have obviously missed something.  What's the story on this again?  And which account has the 50M in it?

That is a DISGRACE!?!?!   Angry

FC might well be one of the most annoying trolls ever, but I seem to recall (somewhere in the source bug threads) that he did make a useful contribution or two.

I think, he just meant 250M are in accounts with no public address.

Eh? I think we're working off different definitions of darkNXT!

 - NXT that is in an account that nobody knows the passphrase of == darkNXT
 - NXT that is in an account that hasn't yet got a public key in the block chain (i.e. no transfers out, no aliases, no forging) != darkNXT

That 250million figure is including the latter, right? No way to distinguish between the two from a technical point of view.

Well, we can't distinguish from both all the time. Account# 111111111 is certainly first case, #43742738484638 maybe first or second. So what is the term darkNXT for actually?

So we have dumbNXT and darkNXT now?

Stupid question: is it possible to send x amount of NXT from account A to account A? In other words to send NXT for myself? Smiley

Perhaps we should ask the initial stakeholders to send 1 nxt to a specific account within a week, to know that these accounts are alive.

If they are not, we can assume they are darkNxt... and take appropriate action?
