10000 NXT BOUNTY OFFER:

legal clause that allows us to properly limit clones stealing NXT code, while still keeping us in compliance with the open source licenses we use.

Maybe if jean-luc would release the refactored core under a no-clone license, it would solve this?

Any lawyers out there?

Not a single Open Source license would let you do that.
The only thing would probably be Public Domain, and I have serious doubts,
if signing code as BCNxt or cpt Picard, would let you make any claims.
(I mean public domain code should be signed with real name and surname)

Also, I hope and I'm quite convinced, we will gain much more releasing the code as Open Source.

Don't make us look like dicks.

I have to agree with NxtChg here.

Calm down, stop acting like kid.

Why dont you just start with delegating 2 people per conference instead of 5?

this is smart.  Since we have so many people lined up for Dallas, I volunteer to wait later this year and go to Las Vegas.

2 people is barely enough unless you don't feel like sleeping for those 2 days. 3 would be much better.

OK lets let rickyjames lead a team of 3 including himself, and I'll lead a team of 3 in vegas?  That sound good?  It seems we need a few more volunteers to fill 3 slots per event...

3 people are ideal:

Person 1: Spending their time with the merchants/vendors
Person 2: Meeting everyone at the event (manning the booth if one is available)
Person 3: Reporting the updates, working with media at the event, coordinating with the Nxt community on immediate action items

Btw.. while we are hashing out licenses, please make sure to contribute to the exchange swarm. Action, action, action. If everyone that comments here spent 10 minutes on swarm action items, the impact would be huge.

If you are able to work fulltime on NXT, PM me how much NXT it would take and what you will be able to do if you were working fulltime on NXT.

I'm very tempted!

My primary skills are math and teaching. But I'm not in academia. I can code, in C/C++/Python. But I'm a hobbyist coder, I just do my own thing, never worked with a group of people before. I can write, but I'm not formally trained in writing. I can help out with the wiki, keep old articles up to date, write new ones. Samples of my work: http://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/How-To:VerifySHA256 http://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/How-To:GenerateStrongPassword

I need to think more about it. What is everyone looking for?

EDIT: I agree, we need a new sweetheart girl to repost  Grin

I disagree with your "How-To:GenerateStrongPassword"

Correctly spelled words (no capitalization or misspelling) are much easier to rememberr and they are stronger password (as long as the words were chosen randomly)

Just 10 random words like this:

"mouse dog right sun computer search pizza run religion water"

correctly spelled with spaces (no caps),  would be much easier to remember and  easy to type. Moreover these kinds of pass phrases are very strong.

Lets assume that these 10 words came from a simple 3000 word dictionary.  Even if the attacker knows all 3000 words in that dictionary, the entropy is still higher than 115 bits

3000^10 = 5.9049e+34

If you make it 12 words, it would be have higher entropy than Ed25519 (public signature system used by Nxt).

ANNOUNCEMENT  Nxt Net Application http://95.85.8.113:9000/nxtnet
I'm glad to announce my Nxt-based web application. It's a decentralized storage of URI's on top of Nxt AM. The app allows you to add a new URI with description and search among existing records.
Some examples of usage:
1. Decentralized storage of torrent files (in form of magnet links); the app contains a link to external torrent->magnet link converter;
2. Decentralized DNS: add records like this: URI - <id_address>, description - <URL>;
3. Decentralized storage of bookmarks;

How it works
The storage is a list of following records: {<URI>, <description>}. Information is stored in JSON-formatted Nxt AMs sent to predefined Nxt ID.

Currently the Nxt address to send messages from is fixed; it contains some coins, you can try to add your record for free (add it, refresh the page after a few minutes).

UPDATE  Nxt Net Application http://95.85.8.113:9000/nxtnet
First of all I'd like to thank all donators!

I made some improvements:
1. URI validation: no more new records with invalid addresses.
2. Adding records is improved: success/error status is reported.
3. Live search.
4. UI improvements.

Someone donated 100Nxt to the sending account (thanks again) - feel free to try!

I'd also like to take part in the AM contest with this app.

Nxt 6488861056876578743

P.S. I'm surprised nobody tried to upload a torrent file; I recall someone wanted this feature very much.

Although currently ranked 4th, Nextcoin (NXT) was not added. Unlike other altcoins, its code is said to be created from scratch and not based on Bitcoin’s. It is possible that its unique architecture poses technical limitations on its addition to VOS, although this remains to be confirmed. There had also been mounting pressure for NXT’s addition to Cryptsy but to no avail, despite Cryptsy’s inclusion of dozens of other more exotic cryptocoins.

I always liked the idea, but the problem might be that users will pick those combinations that are easier to remember and there goes your entropy.

Reminder, this starts now:

"

[SWARM] Exchange Push

Team,

It's time to let the exchanges know it's time to add Nxt. Please do the following:

1. Visit the Google Doc for a list of exchanges and their respective email addresses

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuputZyRQ5-5dFY4RlBTdFJWWnhTRUp3SWdiMlBpb3c&usp=sharing#gid=0

2. Email each exchange

- Let them know why you think they should add Nxt (marketcap, features, community etc..)
- You could easily use the same email for each exchange

3. Record your results here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuputZyRQ5-5dFY4RlBTdFJWWnhTRUp3SWdiMlBpb3c&usp=sharing#gid=0

Don't wait for someone else to do the work, let's show the exchanges we're serious about Nxt! - Nikel"

I would cap funding at 3 people (personally).  If others want to assist, that's fantastic.  The core 3 should have very distinct roles which translates to deliverables.

Let me explain then.

1. Download torrent file; you need to convert it to the magnet link to publish (will take <1min).
2. Go to the app page: http://95.85.8.113:9000/nxtnet
3. Go to link "torrent to magnet link converter (external)".
4. Upload torrent file there, copy the magnet link to clipboard.
5. Return back to the app page.
6. Paste the magnet link to the URI field.
7. Add description.
8. Add it! That's all Smiley

that's right, most people would like to help with something, but also spend time there by their own.. It is nice to have at least some numbers and none numbers that we had yesterday or without these conference lists

That's why we need PBKDF2 in addition to strong pass gen.

So users have freedom - either words or crazypass.
