I propose as the only currently established NXT treasurer:

1.The 9M NTX to be split into four funds, with the additional one being a rainy day fund that doesn't get tapped for a period of one year
2. The rainy day fund constitute a minimum of one-quarter of unspent NXT
3. The committee spending the rainy day fund is to be formed in one year from genesis block formation to allow new blood that hasn't even discovered NXT yet a chance to participate
4. That rickyjames be established as treasurer of the rainy day fund

Instead of creating a "rainy day account" we should simply not burn money too quickly and hit the escape velocity where Nxt will appreciate faster than we are spending.

That's why I would much rather see you on a committee, trying to stretch the funds for more than a year, than as a treasurer with no right to vote.

Does this make sense?

Im sensing yet another poll to come: "How long should the NXT fund last?"
3m for marketing in 1 year is not a lot. That's all I got to say. The remaining mill for dev etc. I leave up to developers to weigh in on

just an idea, would it not be better to have ppl with fewer nxt receive more nxt from forging and richer ppl less.. theres always going to be alot more ppl with a small amount. there for if they get more from forging you will have alot more ppl forging and because the fees go more to the poorer ppl the distribution would over time be better!? im not complaining about richer ppl getting more fees.. i know thats the way things normally happen rich get richer ect.. just thinking of distribution and the number of ppl forging.. im just guessing that the more ppl forging the faster transactions get confirmed? correct me if im wrong?

Rich people DO NOT just get richer because of things like 'interest'. In the real world, the rich get richer because of monopolies made possible by governments. Distribution will not be a problem because as the price of nxt goes higher and higher, the incentive to sell large amounts becomes too great for most people. However, even IF stakeholders want to horde for a long period of time, that's really not a problem either when you think about it. I really do believe though, that as price continues to rise, Nxt will become more and more distributed.

Nextcoin is independent too. Just beause the founder also owns DGEX doesn't mean it's affiliated with DGEX.
In politics this is called: a possible conflict of interest.
That should be avoided (although I enjoy nextcoin.org more then this monster thread).

3 million = 0.3% of all NXT. If it brings success, then 99% of NXT will benefit of this 0.3%. BUT - if NXT goes up, 1 million today would be like 10-100 million in a year

...great idea. Also use some founds for CFB to finish Lakshmi [LAK]

Lakshmi is very easy to create. All work could be done for 100 NXT. Smiley I don't do it coz I'm waiting for my partner, when she sorts out all legal issues.

I would be eager to help if you need it.

I could do it alone, I'm just waiting for my partner. Thank u anyway.

No it's not. The reason I left is because Graviton explicitly told me that it's his personal playground and he plans to treat it like this in the future and monetize the community.

You are allowed to discuss anything there.
- false:
Just for the record before I delete the unauthorized advertisement on nextcoin.org, such an obvious agenda for downplaying competition on their own yard - and trying to score the points home for that is, well, almost tragicomic;
...

Thanks for digging this quote up. Nextcoin.org is absolutely affiliated by DGEX, made clear by Graviton weeks ago.

I've been saying this for weeks: new people are trying to get involved with NXT. Most people don't have time to page through 20-30 pages of posts to get information they need to take action. Developers should migrate to a forum 1) affiliated with NXT and 2) start posting in dedicated threads that are focused on one topic. This is a simple organizational strategy that should increase productivity and save time.

There's no reason this thread can't exist for pub chatter. Important discussions should be focused in dedicated topics. Marketing, fund allocation, etc.

However, if James directs this, then I will disburse as authorized.  Like he has for this 75K NXT for crazy-expensive $75 CPM audio spots over in another thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=412243.new#new

Just for the record, your math is wrong, so anyone who agrees on this lie should make his own calculations first

It's a fact that James has authorized 75K NXT and I will be disbursing that later today as directed.

I understood that the audio spots were twice weekly for three months reaching an audience of 10,000 and were funded at a level of 275K NXT when NXT was priced at 0.07 USD each given the current Bitcoin price.  That's 275,000 * 0.07 = $19,250 for 13 weeks * twice weekly * 10,000 people = 260,000 impressions for a CPM of 19250/260 = $74.03.  I rounded to $75 for sake of an even number to use in discussion.

So...where is my math wrong?  And if I made a mistake based on a misunderstanding, please don't accuse me of lying.  I am acting in good faith here.

Salsacz, you do good creative work and I respect you.    Landomata is obviously a very talented individual and he has my respect as well.   I am not going to challenge the decisions the two of you on advertising again, and I suspect that will take some clenching of my teeth.

But in my opinion, you would both best serve NXT by coming up with a consolidated advertising plan first, open to community comment before execution, that includes CPM as a key metric for consideration and then price that plan instead of just saying things like "I dream it up and somebody executes it" and "Let's pop the ad budget up by 50% with unclaimed NXT".

Good luck to you both.

OK, here we go. Small tutorial on running NRS in Android TV stick.

Tested on Android TV stick, running 4.2.2, RK3006 Rockchip, internal sdcard.

1. Stick has to be rooted.

2. install Complete Linux Installer from app store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zpwebsites.linuxonandroid

3. Go through all steps as it on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b17Bfza1X3A. I used small 13.10 image, because I installed it in internal sdcard. Extracted it takes 2GB. Important: use ext2.zip files if your android is less than 4.3 and you download them manually from http://sourceforge.net/projects/linuxonandroid/files/Ubuntu/13.10/

4. If you did everything as instructed, you should see Ubuntu running on your device. Install java. Important: install oracle java

5. Now copy Your next folder to your desktop folder in ubuntu

6. goto to nxt folder, open terminal window in this folder, type java -jar start.jar and here we go!!!

7. Now you can use chrome browser in android (no need is to have one in ubuntu) and check everything is working.

Didn't try on other android devices, but I think it should work on any android device.

Ask if you will stuck at some moment (i stuck 10 times in 3 days Smiley), I'll try to help. 20 years ago I was a coder, but now I'm not so tech guy, but I'll try the best.

Next stage by myself is to run NRS on my smartphone and later on refrigerator Smiley So grab your tablets, smartphones, sticks and, instead of talking about voting, global warming and where to spend 10M NXT, run NRS on them Smiley

Finally, if You like my work, there is account for donations: 4552966463117743023  Smiley It took for me 3 days and 6 bottles of wine Smiley

Hmmm... really interesting... there must be some type of vulnerability for BCNext to not choose something like this...   Undecided

yes, would that make faster confirmations?  Or is that any threshold issue in NXT network?

About chosen methods:
possibly different alternatives has been considered(?) but not simulated or tested. Current system is "not far from the real world, so it cannot be so bad" Smiley
