it can be very troublesome situations that we can not trust or we do not have many application applications which we do not know at any time when we do not know our users and the results are theft losses are experiencing losses we can lead others to share our mistakes.

lol....... well thats going to be the future of bitcoin anyway, sooner or later more and more bitcoin will end up in unobtainable wallets till the entire system wont be used anymore and gets dropped.
117000 usd,
now good luck with your health

Can you, please, not quote the entire OP if you're not going to reference it at all. We can all see it, no need to quote it for no reason.

Alcohol - the true solution to just about everything.  Lose 13 BTC - go get drunk.  That solves everything.

There's a reason why homeless man and those who have problems turn to alcohol, makes you forget about those or not care for some time. So it's not completely wrong but can only go so far. Grin

But seriously OP, what the hell were you thinking...

Maybe it is better you didn't have kids - don't think they'd be so bright considering the genetics thing.

lol

Need some spare btc for a new PC that can at least run Adobe Dreamweaver.

Extremely sad to hear what happened with you. Angry

But can you or some one else please explain how exactly this happened??

So how exactly did this happen?

I believe the point of compromise happened at one of two places.

1. Using the Ledger to connect to the one of the two BTCP/BTCD Electrum Wallets. The BTCP has an app on the Ledger. The BTCD does not.

2. I don’t recall doing this for my BTC seeds but I might have input them in my hand into the BTCP/BTCD wallets.
That would mean a keylogger has compromised my setup. I’m not normally adventurous in downloading foreign software, generally, aside from rogue Bitcoin wallets (heh...).

So I’m not blaming the BTCP or BTCD Electrum wallets outright as it could have been me inputting my BTC seeds. I don’t recall doing that with my BTC seeds but Indo remember doing that with the old seeds that’s had the BTC already moved.

If anyone is familiar with the BTCP Electrum wallet off Github, that’s where I got it. I’ll have to confirm but I believe I also got the BTCD from there.  I’m sorry if this is unclear. My head is spinning and I’m not sure on where I was compromised.

Greed, in so much that I wanted to turn those forks into more BTC. I don’t trade because I don’t have the short term gut to eliminate emotions. I only accumulate BTC. My thought was that these forks help put BTC into the hands of people who have the same social concensus of money. The forked coins allow people to experiment in finding their own consensus. It seems justified to capitalize on that. The risks are too high to fuck around with them though.

That's assumed to be worth $119,000.

Aren't you aware before claiming those fork coins that you must send first your balance to a safer wallet? You ignored the warning and tip that before claiming those forks secure your funds first.

I don't even waste my time to claim those shit coins.

Your coins has been moved to 339DUjZue42TYnvdU91E8NrNaFff7yzJwo.

Sorry for your loss billy.

I have a crapload of unclaimed btc forks and I am not planning on claiming them for these specific reasons. Too many things can happen..hackers are getting smarter everyday. Losing tens of thousands for the sake of a few hundreds doesn't sound appealing to me. I am so sorry for your loss btw..I hope you haven't lost your entire portfolio and that you will manage to recoup it via investing or trading. Be strong my friend! Don't let money ruin your health.

Yes, I am aware. I was aware. I don’t know why I decided to compromise my BTC seeds like that.

As for the reinvested forks, if it was solely a financial decision, the reinvestment of Forks into BTC, (BIG) if you have the courage of conviction of what fork will win. I have a Masters in Finance on top of an Aerospace Engineering Degree. I understand Economics and International Monantary Policy. I understand why BTC is a game changer. I’d like to think I have a fairly acute sense of the world. I’m probably too naive though when it comes to truly undertanding software attack vectors.  So, while the Financial thesis is there to support forking coins, my Computer Science skills are still very lacking. I should have known my limitations and not been so greedy.

If you’re gonna be dumb, you better be tough.

All you have to do now is to look and seek for a hacker talent since it worth million in our country, I don't care if we share half-half of the total value since my only choice is either I retrieve the wallet and the BTC and have the half of it or loss it and I'll just regret it for the rest of my life.

That was a very harsh decision and so you have suffered a huge loss. 13 btc is no longer a small amount today, it is a good deal already. Your fault is that you did not make and experiment with a small amount before you did it with your wallet that has 13 btc. But next time if you really want to have a forked coins then try placing it in yobit, the forked coins will automatically appear in your balance as long as you have btc.

I don't know what to say to you, you are aware on how to secure yourself from these forks but you are comfortable that they won't or try out your seeds. I still admire you for your toughness thought that's really a big money but this isn't the end of your crypto journey, you have to move on and make sure next time when you claim fork coins secure yourself. I know you can stand against this challenge to you billy and I can't really help you with this.

So, while the Financial thesis is there to support forking coins, my Computer Science skills are still very lacking. I should have known my limitations and not been so greedy.
Take it as a lesson and reduce the greediness in you.

I feel for your lost 13btc just like that, but we are all told that your power to you wallet security idiyour private key once you break that security you are losing your assets to who ever have access to those keys. Your private keys are your freedom once you lose it you are done.
13 btc is a huge money and once it lost it is very hard to retrieve it. Yes that is most important to really save our private keys and never misplaced it. It is sad that others lost their btc this is really huge money.

We are sorry to hear news such as this was also exposed to thefts, but for less money, unfortunately there is no solution, but there is no objection to not getting more than the money was stolen I advise you to forget and start again

As an additional warning to those that are new to the space...

If the amount of value that you are holding in crypto is such that you would be devastated if you lost it all, then you are holding too much value in crypto.

These are experimental, volatile, and risky protocols.  Do not risk your mental and emotional well-being.

I think this is an undervalued opinion here; but what is it that you suggest that you periodically and systematically take off a "salary" for yourself ?? what about the potential for increase ? how would you feel if you've sold most of your holdings and the price doubled ?

Nothing would have happened if you only use that forked Electrum with your Ledger device, private keys are always safe in device-you enter your Ledger seed in that Electrum forked wallets, and one or both were false.I'm really surprised that you can not even remember what exactly did you do in process of losing 13 BTC.

You made a beginner mistake, first you have to know how something works and than work with that-you did exactly the opposite.Ignorance and greed are the main factors of this story, and because of that hackers live like kings these days.Your loss is just a drop in the sea of tens of millions, and maybe even hundreds of millions $ which are lost in this way.

I really don't know what to say. I'm sure lecturing you right now wouldn't help(unless you're planning on investing in the future, which I don't suggest you doing). I just, can't believe how careless could people be with such a huge amount. I personally don't even own one full bitcoin, but I quadruple check and research on everything first as if I had like BTC500.

I mean like, sure, exposing your private keys was a huge mistake; but investing your whole life savings in to bitcoin? colossal mistake.

Maybe it is better you didn't have kids - don't think they'd be so bright considering the genetics thing.
Yikes.

Cautionary Tale: I messed up. Big time. Please don’t pile on harder as I’m already sick to my stomach.

NEVER EXPOSE YOUR BTC KEYS/Seed to an forked wallet.

Two days ago, I attempted to split my BTC Diamond and BTC Private. I could not get it.

At some point, I exposed my Ledger Nano with my BTC on it, to each of their Electrum Wallets.

Last night, my wallet was emptied of ALL my BTC, 13+ coins.

Here is the transaction.

Transaction Identifier: d96a7dcd9775456e36938ed2cb84e9d0cac46fad14b8c95008ed77d08f9f8de6

Went to: 3LsvHPBGuEVLZZDUiUuNdNi33T7zmTBC7o

Here’s a signed message so you know I HAD controller of the wallet.
I’m not scamming, just utterly sick to my stomach for losing 13+ BTC.

It appears that I have now lost my entire life savings. I’m not begging for a handout but rather attempting to warn anyone new to the space. I’m sick to my stomach with the loss and my only hope is to gain the attention of the culprit.

If you have any space in your heart, please return the BTC. I’d accept a fraction of what was stolen. Please don’t completely bankrupt me.
bad. a huge amount of money. You have been careless in keeping your BTC. it's your mistake. Hope somebody will kindly return you some BTC

Always remember: SECURITY OVER EVERYTHING

You owned 13 bitcoin, you should act like you own 13 bitcoin. I think a huge factor of this mistake is greed. You wanted more money by claiming your Bitcoin Diamond and Bitcoin Private, hence the life wrecking mistake you made.

Cautionary Tale: I messed up. Big time. Please don’t pile on harder as I’m already sick to my stomach.

I really doubt hackers would return something they stole.
