Anyone else had an issue where the Z9 mini fan starts cycling high like it is restarting and the red fault indicator is solid red? Just had multiple Z9's go into this state at the same time. I thought maybe is was something to do with the pool, but I tried changing the pool on one of them to see if that corrected it, but it goes back to the same state. I am running stock clock speeds, so no overclocking or anything like that going on. Tried power cycling them and that didn't correct it. Any thoughts?
My first thought is that if multiple ones did it at the same time it's network related. I think considering the pool is also a good suspect but it sounds like you have eliminated that. Swap a switch or something. EDIT: One thing that just occurred to me, verify that whatever they are using for DNS can resolve the pool(s) you have configured. Maybe they can't find the pool.

So I have mined 1 ZEC at almost exactly a week of mining. Based on prices I can say that 11 ZEC would definitely put me over 100% ROI so 10 more weeks. I know it won't actually be 10 weeks, it'll certainly be longer, but that looks pretty good right now. Reminds me of the old days of the early antminers when you could actually make a profit in the long run and ROI was under 6 months.

It appears it is something screwy with the Z9 on the network. Nothing else was having an issue. No more than sent an email to Bitmain and suddenly they came back online. No explanation for this one. Then about 15 mins later it dropped again. I restarted the miners and they came back online. Very strange stuff. Rebooted the router for good measure.

I'm curious.. if ROI is on average around 6 months wouldn't it be better to simply buy the coin at today's prices and ride it up? Or is the point of mining to make money even as the price continues to drop?

Well, if you think the price is going to continue to drop then buying at today's prices would not be a good idea and you would lose money. Mining on the other hand.... You spend $2000 on a miner, after 5-6 months you break even... after that everything is profit, get it? Risk vs reward. Even in the price goes down you can hodl the coins you mine, trade for another coin like bitcoin and hodl, or you can cash out immediately.

10 weeks? in three weeks the z9 will make $5 a day theres tons of batches coming in a week or so, not even factoring in the innosilicon 50sol box maybe u break even in six months if prices rises

Does anyone knows approximately how many Z9 mini antminers Bitmain will produce for second batch? Second batch should be a lot bigger then first?

Hi all, since there was some speculation about the actual temperature maximums for the Z9 mini, I contacted Bitmain and received the following information:
Ambient temperature: 15-35C PCB Max Temp: 80C Chip Max Temp: 125C
I was told the PCB and Chip temps are the thermal cutoffs where the unit will shut itself down. Also interesting that their specs on the Z9 mini info page state an operating environment temperature maximum of 40C, but they told me 35C when I contacted.
This is all FWIW, but figured it might be helpful. Also explains why in my environment, when I have the fan set to auto, my Z9 regulates itself to mid 70s C, despite having lower temps possible with a higher fan rpm. Seems 70-80C is perfectly safe for the unit.

I'd imagine it is twice the hash chips, same board design mirrored, and run at 50% higher clock.
