Fuck.  Between that and the Trump tax, it makes me regret rolling the dice on batch 2.  My batch 1 Z9 mini's have ROI'ed, but I'm not sure about batch 2....

Right now (10:29 Central Time), cryptocompare.com shows ZEC hash rate for 968,356 KH/s. I find it to be the the most accurate reporting of spot hash rate.

But 968,356 KH/s is jumping up super high, considering we were around 500k KH/s 2 months ago before Bitmain and others shipped batch 1 to customers.

ROI for batch 2 is gonna dunno. It all depends on how many units Bitmain, Innosilicon, et al have have sold for batch 2 and successive batches. We should have a wager on how much ZEC hash rate will jump.

I had to 3rd party my Z9 mini first batches, so i'm only about 50% through ROI on the first 12... they were spread out over about 20 days in receiving them.. that said, I fully expect them to completely ROI and ultimately profit. I calculated out to 4.4GSol/s as a "worst case", aka 1year ROI... still headroom in my book.

That said, I took most of that first 50% and put it back into Z9 large and i'm not looking forward to the "buy 3 pay for 4" deal these tariffs are going to cause.

bitmain told me earlier it was too late to change shipping from UPS to DHL with a comment of "on the bright side, it will be shipping soon".

Here's to the gamble...

Just have it listed as a space heater since profits are down. Otherwise plan ahead and document it if you don't want to deal with delays. 2.8% or bust. We're firm believers that consumers shouldn't pay duties. It's not your fault manufacturing is overseas because US businesses don't want a domestic middle class anymore. Vote and change shit. Off soap box now.

PS. 1 year ROI is a good return for any new business. Mine on.

did someone receive 2nd batch z9 mini ? i heard on discord a9-z9 that the 2nd batch of z9 mini, bitmain have block the possibility to overclock ?
not true, it can be OC. I just did it

How to OC?  Did you flash another firmware?

I just received mine today and i only have the option for "balanced" instead of a list of frequencies to set.

i didn’t do anything, it came with a list of frequencies as default just like in the 1st batch

Thanks to the help of Franomaster and Cursed Mining on Cursed Mining's Discord channel, a solution has been found for overclocking batch 2 z9 minis that are locked down.  I confirm it is working because I am the one who validated the solution.

Below is the link to the video created by Cursed Mining explaining how it is done.

Hope it helps

Picked up my 2 Batch 2 Z9 minis from the local DHL office.  I did have to pay dues, but only $21 per unit instead of the almost $200 I have seen others pay.  I'm in Virginia, US.

What does suck about these Batch 2 miners, is that I can't OC them at all.  Under advanced config on my Batch 1 miners, I could change the frequency from the 500 default value, to 750, and they have been happily mining at that speed for 2+ months with 0 HW errors.  These batch 2 miners only has a "Balanced" setting under frequency.  Guess I'll head over to the "Z9 mini OC thread" to see what the deal is.

Yet.  I know UPS bills me for the "broker fee".  I have never had customs charges, but every shipment I get hit with a fee

"We're firm believers that consumers shouldn't pay duties."

This doesn't really make sense (note that I am anti-import tax and duty, just speaking logically). You are buying direct from the manufacturer; this makes you the importer. Normally an importer includes their overall cost and a markup, so you're still getting it cheaper than you would if you didn't pay the duty.

Basically you are always going to pay the duty, because someone in the chain has to (an importer or manufacturer would simply up the price to cover it). Free trade is the only way around that, in which case it doesn't matter if you're the customer or an importer or the manufacturer...

Yes, but it's different since the British used to own it (no longer the case). One is a developed market (HK), one is emerging (China) in the MSCI indices. HK has its own legal system and acts separately than mainland China.

True, but this would have no effect on taxes, tariffs, or duties.

Well, I look forward to hearing from HK-shipped ASICs as to whether the receiver was assessed a customs tax--I did not with the origination there but I did when it originated from Shenzhen.

My batch 2 Z9's were shipped from HK and I only had to pay $21 per miner in duties (shipped to Virginia in the US).  The came in via CINCINNATI HUB - USA.  I have had other Bitmain order come through their NY HUB.

Was this indicated on the tracking updates like UPS does and did you have to pay prior to taking delivery?

I had been following the shipment via the DHL online tracker.  When it got to destination DHL office, I saw the follow message:

Shipment held - Available upon receipt of payment

So I called them and they told me they tried to contact me but were unable to.  The lady then told me how to pay the duty online.
