I at least don't feel terrible. I expected something to happen from bitmain since I never buy from them due to the shit stories.  I just wish I had it here and running already.  I'm sure next year a new zec miner will come out but for now I just want to let it run.  I'm not worried about electricity, just the diminishing return of zec.

None of my board went above 65C (ever). Fan 80% (all of them). Now when it is cooler they are (one, as an example):

Chain#   ASIC#   Frequency   KSol/S(RT)   HW   Temp(PCB)   Temp(Chip)   ASIC status

wow. what batch? mine is from 5-10th september batch. how many mhz? I got them on 668.
80% sounds louder than 1x D3 and I can not use my silentbox with the Z9 minis due to high temps even with air ducts...  Undecided

You see above: 681Mhz. First batch

Here is the second

correct. sorry. well first batch beats everything I guess. thank god I downloaded the old firmware before bitmain could update it from its support website, only with the may firmware I am able to OC.
but the first batch seems to have a superiour chip quality.

these are my stats:
Chain#    ASIC#    Frequency    KSol/S(RT)    HW    Temp(PCB)    Temp(Chip)    ASIC status

1   4   668   4.52   0   57   72   oooo
2   4   668   4.60   0   55   69   oooo
3   4   668   4.26   0   59   72   oooo

do you also have that high amout of discarded shares?

I am mining on Flypool: 1,691 (100%) / 0 (0%)

What is your room temperature? I do not let mine go above 27C (80F). You have to consider increasing the fan speed, I think.

Bitmain has no fear of reprisal.

Bitmain is a billion-dollar company in the PRC.  There's no chance that anyone can do anything to them.

Their mining only hurts them as even just burning in is incredible hash and profit. It basic greed and short game their playing. How many billion did they have to trim from budget?

Welp, this is a costly lesson is why not to buy from Bitmain.

Mini's down to 0.06ZEC/day through the night at 16kSol/s (and 0.075ZEC/day at 16kSol as of this post).
Z9s still MIA+expectation of 25% tariff on the funds bitmain already has.

Difficulty was at 24.6million a bit ago and 1.34GSol/s.

Knew there was a risk, but I didn't expect bitmain not holding up their end was part of that risk.

Let's see, 30k usd in minis+infrastructure, first 10k of that went straight to bitmain for 3 more Z9s, 13k usd usd of original still needs to be CRd(ROId) + 10k of the 2nd 'investment'. I'm expecting another 2.5k on tariffs when (if?) the Z9s ship.

Altcoins being destroyed isn't helping the equation.

net-net, now isn't the time to get into asics unless you want to spend $10k(+2.5k tariff!) to get $270 in coupons ($90*3) on your next 10k purchase.

12th now, still no update on shipments

Same boat here, I noticed in their "We're sorry" notice they wrote:

"We estimate that it will arrive a maximum of five to seven days later than planned. We extend our sincere apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause and are working behind the scenes to reduce this timescale."

I'm guessing they mean 5-7 business days, so I'm expecting to hear something regarding shipping early next week. All the while watching ZEC go down in price and up in difficulty  Cry

Oh I even said to bitmain what about 2nd and 3rd batches?  What was the purpose of 1st batch buyers to get first shipment if you are going to just ship everything basically at once?  This was there reply:

Thanks for your consultation!

The first batch will start shipping from this week and the second batch will be shipped out when the first batch finished.

Sorry for the shipping delay and thanks for your understanding.

Please let us know if you have additional questions or concerns.

Best regards,
Chloe
Bitmain

LOL.  So essentially means.. we will ship first batch all at once this week, then the day after ship all of 2nd batch.

This all started with Cryptonight, and the monero community was massively AGAINST this kind of thing. I dont really see anyone care except for these kids on the internet trying to protect their investments. Its so glaringly obvious its laughable to see.

Welp, this is a costly lesson is why not to buy from Bitmain.

i think we all need to face the reality that we're the ones that are doing this to ourselves. remember that bitmain only made the miner. we all chose to buy it and increase the difficulty on our own. everyone wants a piece and therefore pushes the difficulty up and therefore less to go around. in short, we're our own demise.

in the long run, whether it be asics or gpus, it will be a battle of attrition. the ones who can outlast the rest will win. as people turn off their gpu rigs, it increases profits for the other gpu rigs that are still on. same goes for asics as well... the question is who will give up first.

another analogy... gun manufacturers make guns. we buy guns (both good and bad people) and use the guns to hurt other people... so is it the gun manufacturers fault or is it us? i know there's a lot of variables and great depth of discussion here but the fact is that we do it to ourselves.

another scenario... market value and trading... if sellers would just hold strong on their sell books and not panic-sell, coin prices won't drop. of course buyers want to buy low but if seller won't budge, then buyer will have to meet it or the price won't move and that's okay. again, a lot of variables and depths of discussion but the fact is we do it to ourselves whether by choice or consequence.

just my opinion. take it with a grain of salt.

This.  Whenever you buy from bitmain it is a pure gamble.  Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.  I always tell anyone who is thinking of buying asics or buying new asics from bitmain, make sure you have a bankroll to put up to outlast when if whatever asic you buy becomes unprofitable.  People who buy asics that can't afford to be in it for the long run or outlast others are the ones who lose big in this scenario of bitmain asics lol.

Could be way worst. How about buying and obelisk and being 3 months delay on shipping and never ROI on hardware.

Lots of misinformation in this thread. I wanted to share my experiences.

I bought 18 z9 mini's from the 2nd batch and they arrived on 8/31. The 2nd batch ASIC's will not go up to 750Mhz or 16-17k sols like the first batch. The best you're going to get is about 675. I have all mine set at 650, except for 2 of them that each had 1 ASIC that would constantly fail at 650 so I detuned it to 600.

You can easily overclock on the stock firmware, just not from the web UI. You have to change the default password away from root/root in the web gui, then you are able to SSH into the miner's linux command line. From there you can edit the bitmain-freq value above the default of 500

root@antMiner:~# tail -5 /config/cgminer.conf
"api-groups" : "A:stats:pools:devs:summary:version",
"api-allow" : "W:0/0",
"bitmain-use-vil" : true,
"bitmain-freq" : "600"
}

... or just use the frequency change function in awesomeminer to do that for it. Smiley
