Hey tyz,

Maybe it is time to close the forum at emercointalk.org as it is not seeing much use and is getting spammed more often. Perhaps the team should set up a slack channel to replace it? You could use emercointalk.org for the slack channel inviter like: https://github.com/outsideris/slack-invite-automation.
Or could join some other existing chat forum..

If closing it, it would be nice to replace it with something. Maybe craslovell has suggestions?

Hi Emerger,

We were speaking with tyz about transferring forum ownership to the team since it was getting hit with so much spam. I'll have to check and find out where we are with that.

That being said membership and activity has always been a problem - this is something I was hoping to drive up on the forum however I do like your suggestion. We need any positive way to get the conversation and interest flowing as it should be.

Hi guys!

Few questions:
1. Did not find main coin characterisitics, like supply, block generation time etc. Please advise where to find this.
2. Is there low limit for POS mining? Or even 1 EMC will mine?
3. Is there Telegram chat about EMC?
4. Is there russian BCT thread?

Thanks!

1. Specs: http://emercoin.com/specifications
2. I don't think there is a lower limit, but with 1 EMC at best you'd have ~1.06 EMC after 1 year, due to the 6% POS
3. Not sure? See my above post also.
4. Russian thread: https://forum.btcsec.com/index.php?/topic/3408-emercoin/

Other links at http://emercoin.com/resources

Hope that helps!

The emercointalk forum and domain were completely transferred to Sergii from the community. He will clean up and run the forum.
I am currently very busy with my day job but we thinking about to migrate it to a other software (without spam posts) soon. We could also follow the proposal of Emerger to set up a Slack channel. We should discuss this out which way we should go. Although, the forum's ownership is not in my hand anymore, I will support to get it run again and to moderate discussions in the future.

Is there an emission curve for mining? I presume that the mining reward falls away as the OP says.

Further difficulty will gradually increase, making PoS mining more promising.

But that is not quite clear.

Now we established a pool fee of 3%.

I hope that it will stimulate the creation of new pools. (by decentralization reasons)

I need technical help. I created a paper wallet account some time ago. Now I want to import it.

I used the debug console in Emercoin wallet and executed the following command combinations

Quote
importprivkey 6R...
Quote
importprivkey "6R..."
Quote
importprivkey '6R...'

They all give me error Invalid private key encoding (code -5)

Any ideas why it does not work?

The private keys are correct. I tried some others which I just created with a paper wallet and no one works. Is this a bug maybe?

I had a similar issue some months ago. You might want to check this thread ~half a year back to find the answer - I think I somehow solved it by including the label thing after the command.

Btw: What happened to the rest of the EMC from the Emercoin idea contest? It has been ridicolously long since it finished without the rest of the EMC being distributed to the participants.

Many thanks for responses! Fixx gave me the advice to try the import with an older version. So I downloaded v0.3.7 and private key import worked very well.

Maybe there should be a hint somewhere that is pointing to this issue. I googled before and I did not find any hint to this problem. Could save time for those who are looking for a solution, too.

importprivkey problem happening, because of Java-script in the online walletgenerator based on the old EC library, and library in the new
bitcoin core is more strict. Thus, some keys, generated online, can be rejected with a new wallet.

Since new library is more secure, and standard for Bitcoin, we will continue to use a new one. If needed, lets online generator updates their code.

Currently, as tentative solution, I can suggest you two ways:

1. After generation, try to import this key into an empty wallet. If successful, you can delete a wallet, and send EMCs to the address without problems.
2. If you already got some EMCs on the account - use old wallet version, i.e. 0.3.7, import key as Fixx suggested, and thereafter copy wallet.dat to new client.

Just for your info:

HashFlare and HashCoins are the same company & are a proven, verified & well known scam who have & continue to steal from customers who paid them for vaporware & cloud mining contracts.

I would be interested to know why you are promoting them.
