Bitcoin Clones ... demoting forum veterans into nitpicking trolls for about a week now.
if you look at ArtForz' posts above it looks more the other way round. if it's true what he writes (and I believe it) he kicked some I0coin wanna-be adpoter ass.  And why wouldn't he? 24 Gh was no doubt going to produce tons more i0coins than bitcoins. I hope he sold them quickly when the exchange opened and got a premium price for them. So far I've made more than 40x the amount of btc from selling the ixcoins that I mined than I would have made mining btc in the same timeframe. Just looking at the wall of GH built up waiting of i0coin to go live told me that I didn't want any part of it for what I was willing to commit to it, and I couldn't be happier with that decision. In the end I only made a little more than I would have with Bitcoins but it cost me a lot of time. Slow mining software and connection lag teached me the hard way. Of course ArtForz is way ahead with the experience of thousands of solved blocks (and I do not mean any fork).  It was extremely funny and interesting to see and even take part in the birth of a block chain. I guess any new fork will have even less success unless it adds something really new. I thought it was an interesting experiment - I wasted a couple of quid, but I got to see how things worked. I started mining on my crap computer which would have been more effort than it was worth with bitcoin. I learnt a lot more about bitcoin with this than I could have done otherwise as a late(ish) adopter. |

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Yeah I think I'm done with Ix/I0coin. It's not worth it to cash out at these prices now and make maybe 6 or 7 BTC back. I'll check back next year.

Difficulty will drop quickly if miners leave i0coin (1 week interval?) so next week there's another round |

Watching these alternative chains launch has helped me to learn a lot about bitcoin. They also make great 'test' nets in some ways. |

Yeh lol..meh I'm tired of these forks..time to go back to good'ol'bitcoin The one and only, the first eh thats up to you of course.. but I am racking it in with these volatile new currencies. Mainly on I0coin as I dont have to worry about some founder dumping all of his coins suddenly and making the price crash. |

Watching these alternative chains launch has helped me to learn a lot about bitcoin. They also make great 'test' nets in some ways. I learned that what I was hoping to learn wasn't going to happen the way I had hoped. Bitcoin started out in obscurity and grew very slowly for a long time. Since I already knew how to mine solo, getting a client set up and configured was trivial. Grabbing a bunch of blocks early was nice, but when I started getting a bunch of rejects I knew the honeymoon was over, everyone else had finally gotten on to and was outpacing the difficulty. It was like the first 2 years of bitcoin discovery, growth, and explosive expansion compressed into about 4 hours. When you can go from genesis blocks to extracting and selling coins on an exchange in 12-16 hours it gave a bit of perspective, but not really a genuine experience. |

Difference is, I'd actually rather have 100,000 i0coins than 580,000 ixcoins. At current prices you could buy more than 100,000 i0coins with 580,000 ixcoins. But I think you mean you don't want ixc at all. |

Also, if you want to view the changes that i've made on the stable version, you can diff the source with the 0.3.24 version of the main bitcoin client. |

I couldn't compiler original build. I had to run the I0coin server off if my Windows 7 laptop. Maybe I'm making some newb mistakes. |

I can't get either the stable or beta client to make connections now. I think the IRC bootstrapping is dead or something. Which sucks because I can't move any i0coin right now if I can't download the blockchain.
Start the client with -addnode= set to an IP address of a known node. Try "-addnode=206.71.179.116" for example. |

looks like you've a corrupted blockchain. Try to delete the blockchain file from ~/.i0coin and redownload it. (Beware to not delete wallet.dat!) |
