Since i only got a little more than 1TH/s miningpower , should i consider larger or smaller pools to mine for more profit?
could you somehow guide me into the right direction to find out?

pool size will only affect the frequency of your payments
larger pool... more smaller payments
smaller pool.. fewer larger payments
too small of a pool.. danger of going several difficulty periods before a payment [not a good thing]

be sure that your pool paysout tx fees.. a lot dont.
the twwo pools of appreciable size with the better pool fees are slushpool and viabtc.com
i split my miners between them to get the same overall payout with less chance of a run of bad luck.
if you can split your power id reccomend that but its up to the individual to decide.

Thats the safest thing i can reccomend while at the same time maximizing your profit.
for a quick start anyway you can place your miners and then take your time looking at all the pool policies. fees. and payouts.

using pplns plan is usually the best payback option .
using  pps type plans will give you a constant even payback regardless of the pools block find success but will in general cost you an extra 1% to 3% bite out of your overall payback.

i dusted the dirt off an older s1 and am running it at Kano's pool. Kano.is
If I can get the accumulated grime off of another old s1, i am going to run it solo on solo.ckpool.org  [thanks os2sam]

a word on the old s1 s....    they ran for 7 months unattended nonstop, then when a shelf collapsed they fell 3 ft onto a stone floor, i put them back and they kept on running.
today they generat 45c per day BTC and they burn 88c per day electric. if the solo unit hits, it will more than cover its cost in used plutonium.

and to echo another persons perplexed query, why in blue blazes would anybody mine at antpool? or those other three big fat pools with lousy payout policies?
i am seriously curious. if you are one of those people, please leave a note of explanation for the rest of us. are we missing something?
this is not a snide put down. it's a serious question. why take such a large loss and lend power and BTCBTC to corporate avarice threatening the base principals of us all?

Please avoid BTCC or BTCCHINA for mining.

I tried to mine BTCC a week ago and never received a payment. So far I have 0.002 BTCs on their hand.

When I contacted the customer support, they said I changed the wallet address and I need to wait for 3 days. After I wait for 3 days, they changed the excuse and said they change the payment policy from 0.001 to 0.01 BTCs.

They have no clear payment policy on their website. They could say whatever they want to avoid the payment.

Scammer at the finest.

There is of course also the option of running p2pool.org: Highly distributed, pays out new coins, pretty anonymous, and you can elect 0% to the pool development if you really want to. Also pays out all tx fees.

That's only for blocks you find on your own p2pool node.
Everyone else who finds a p2pool block, decides what % of the reward goes to the developer.

Also it's not fully distributed since a lot of people mine to other p2pool nodes rather than creating their own.

Edit: also there's issues with the main p2pool filling up blocks and using segwit ... ... ...

2) It's a pretty fair system
3) Far more distributed than your normal pool (although I really haven't heard of a pool stealing work lately)

Lulz, when only a few mining servers cover most of the p2pool hash rate - the distributed argument doesn't count for much.
Over 2/3 of the BTC in the last p2pool block went to 2 addresses ... 4.65631712 + 6.14104235 out of 15.53807805 BTC

Since it crosses multiple diff changes it devalues your reward, for your work done, dramatically.

Solo.ckpool.org    1%   fee                If you find a block, don't fret over the 1% and feed a few stray cats while you are at it.
                                                       [size of a solo pool, large or small, of course makes no difference for solo.]



viabtc.com :          1%                      offers solo connection at a 1% fee, the usual

                                                           many other pools large and small offer solo mining if you dare or have boatloads of hash power... just keep an eye on the fee.

Bitminter has a server in Germany, at eu1.bitminter.com:3333

That said, having a server close to you will only reduce your stale work a tiny bit. So maybe you earn 0.02% more bitcoin.

Well, I finally managed to log back on to the forum after a long break - and I'm surprised that no one has taken over the pools list! Come on people, this is a really important service and should be kept up to date! I don't have time anymore, but I'm sure someone here is capable. Message me if you'd like my input or advice, but get started soon -- the community needs a non-partisan pools list.
