Hi janos666 -
I appreciate your post - and for the most part agree with everything you say. But I would point out that our goal should be to a major coin on par with LTC, if not BTC (I have been called delusional, but what's wrong with aiming high?) - which means profitability should be on par with LTC and consistent. DOGE coin is selling itself into eventual oblivion, through hyperinflation, and this is not a good model to follow. "Profitability" is just coinhopperese get the most BTC's by mining it and immediately dumping it on exchanges. We should have a coin that people believe in, for long-term potential - and willing to mine, long-term, and hold onto the coins acquired by mining. Consistent mining commitment, moderate "profitability," and tendency to hang onto out of long-term expectation of appreciation of value - is the combination we should aim to achieve, as boring as that may sound. And it is precisely this "boring sounding"-ness that will keep the coin hoppers uninterested and keep the difficulty curve stable - just like LTC and BTC have stable curves. The more qualities we can engineer our way into emulating (or surpassing) in relation to LTC and BTC, the more we are on the right track to also emulate them in market cap. Let's aim high, and not compromise. Marketing, no knee jerk hard forks, calming down, I'm with you on all that.

Let me quote myself. [...] in just a few weeks, but I believe it could definitely be on pair with DOGE in profitability [...] [...] long term future which might eventually rise this coin above DOGE and the like [...] I guess the road of growing up temporarily crosses the way of DOGE at some point(s) until things settle down from panic to calm state (before the slow and steady growth can begin). May be not...

@Substantial CAT stakeholders, please unilaterally consider distributing 10-20% of your CATs in the coming weeks to those community enthusiasts who might be short of CATs and consistently contribute to promotion with constructive project coordination and implementation. Folks who give their time, energy and skill to CAT might be the best place for CATs to land at these times and prevent your stake from future deterioration

##catcoin which I've wasted a number of hours wondering why it exists (in other words, wasn't JACK happening there!).
Nothing was happening because people were fighting on the forum instead of talking in chat. You're fired. I recommend that we hold out for information from Maverickthenoob and possibly Kr105 and ignore the rest of the noise.

Yes - the confirmations are happening very very slowly during our long, slow periods. It seems we get a burst of confirmations during our low difficulty periods when we get a huge influx of computer power. It's taking three to four days to get confirms for mining work on Coinium, for example.

I also think it needs time. Hashrate will adjust itsself once price will soar a bit. Risk is if hashrate will fall and fall, there will be no more longer transactions possible. After price is falling down soo much there should not be soooo much early miners out there with a lot of coins to dump. People who buys in won´t sell at this level even they want to cut their loss. At some time it doesent matter if you lose 75% or 90% as long as there is a chance of recover.
If the price falls, so will the hashrate, then the difficulty. Transaction times aren't a problem any more because of the change to the coin. As hashrate drops less hashrate is needed to mine Catcoins. This is what the official fork corrected. We do not need to worry about transaction times now. Period. As long as it least 1 person mines it, but realistically many more will continue to mine Catcoin as long as this thread remains active. It's not falling. It's cycling. This isn't organic. It's a few people using it as a tennis ball. Anyways, I am going to make a test fork called HARDCOIN, no pools, etc. Look at the monthly chart on Cryptsy. Don't look at day trades. The price is falling. Cycling hashrate. Price is falling because unreliable reward rate, because difficulty unreliable.

Earlier I said I feel like like the guy standing in front of the tank in Tienanmen square. That's wrong. I'll feel like that if the FBI knocks on my door asking me to track down some cryptocoin criminal and I tell them "sure, but only in full public view of the world" A much better analogy is I'm walking uphill against a herd of stampeding sheeple trying to point out there's a pack of wolves at the bottom of the hill they are all running down. Now for a serious question for tracking down the wolves and coinhoppers among us: has anyone gotten https://github.com/znort987/blockparser/ to work on catcoin? I'm getting a segfault. Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. findLongestChain () at parser.cpp:330 330 if(likely(0!=block->data)) { (gdb) list 325 static void findLongestChain() 326 { 327 Block *block = gMaxBlock; 328 while(1) { 329 330 if(likely(0!=block->data)) { 331 const uint8_t *p = -4 + (block->data); 332 LOAD(uint32_t, size, p); 333 gChainSize += size; 334 } (gdb) bt #0 findLongestChain () at parser.cpp:330 #1 secondPass () at parser.cpp:593 #2 main (argc=<optimized out>, argv=<optimized out>) at parser.cpp:626 (gdb) print block $1 = (Block *) 0x0 (gdb) print gMaxBlock $2 = (Block *) 0x0

Folks who give their time, energy and skill to CAT might be the best place for CATs to land at these times and prevent your stake from future deterioration +BIGNUM And as soon as I get blockparser working, we can track and watch the redistribution, and come up with a consensus on how to reward those stakeholders for their vote of confidence. I vote for etblvu1's https://bitbucket.org/dahozer/catcoin/issue/11/the-llacca-algorithm to reward all the miners who hold up the network during high difficulty. But until there's a consensus you can always unilaterally support https://bitbucket.org/dahozer/catcoin/wiki/Stake-mine

Nothing was happening because people were fighting on the forum instead of talking in chat. You're fired. I recommend that we hold out for information from Maverickthenoob and possibly Kr105 and ignore the rest of the noise. That's great, because I'm hiring zerodrama as Chief Disinformation Officer. At least until he disses me, then he's fired. I also need someone to run a coinhopper pool that pays out in CAT. You can point 1~3Mhash at whatever the hell pool or coin you want, as long as I get CAT payouts, and I'm not using it for Catcoin testing. Slimepuppy do you want a cut of this?

So my fellow Cats how's everything going? Wasn't much active in this thread for the past few days. please read though the few days evilish, there was some argument going on, not sure how this is now resolved... It isn't yet. The simple fact is the 1 block 36 method results is a cyclical formula, unless we tweak it somehow. Etbluv1's LLACCA suggestion is good, but I think it may be overly complex and frankly I'm not crazy about screwing with block rewards to screw over pool hoppers, at the expense of loyal miners. There are other headaches involved too which I can detail in a bit if there is interest. THere are also benefits which Etbluv1 can explain himself. I'm about to order a VPS with my own funds to allow us to build a proper testnet, because I don't really want that testnet on my private network for a number of reasons. I should have that built by the end of the night barring any unforeseen issues or consequences. Today has been pretty low key for me, I personally was very busy at work (I unboxed and imaged 36 laptops today and did a number of other things) so I didn't really have a chance to look at the test net until now. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
