We have our first VIP member: smart1985. Thank you!

Red is for mods?

Red is administrators, blue is global mods. These are the same colors used for the "users online" list.

There is now a forum section accessible only to donators/VIPs.

Can members with 500+ post have a section as well?

Eek! We don't need to encourage the idea that more posts is always better. A better solution might be a "members with 10+ days logged in" forum. However, I don't think any of that is really necessary in the first place.

I don't want to create many exclusive-access forums.

This is a pretty good idea.  I can easily see myself investing that amount of time in this place.

I feel a forum branch coming along.
Maybe, I'm not sure...I don't have a lot of friends. Sad

No offense Theymos but I think VIP is way to expensive. Please lower VIP to 10 BTC which is already close to $100 with fees. 50btc is ridiculous.

Donator status should be any amount, since donations should mean that someone "chooses" how much they want to donate...

It's not supposed to be easy to get. What value would it have if even 1% of members have it?

Why should anyone be able to get it for donating next to nothing?  You imply that everyone needs to be able to get donator status to be able to do anything.

Fucking A that's expensive. If 10btc is a month of hosting, one vip and seven donators is your whole year of hosting. What a racket that is...

I think you are cutting out the majority of your market that would kick in 1btc or 5btc for the same thing, it wouldn't detract from the 'exclusivity' that you think is driving people to do this. They are doing it to support the forum and get a pat on the back for it and maybe be taken a little more seriously, not to join some boys club. 50btc? They should go to some college and find some kid looking down and give them $500 if they are just throwing their money at non-strippers like that. At least they'll get to see someone smile.

I probably will add a cheaper "level" once there is automated transaction processing for this. I don't want to manually handle too many donations.

Maybe once Bitcoin includes a built-in message-signing feature, I'll just use that for transaction processing. Then everyone who has already donated to the publicly-listed address will get credit without me having to create a separate processing system. And the server won't have to run bitcoind.

(If you ever want credit for your public-address donations, don't donate to the public address using an EWallet.)

The user on the forums (theymos, I think), or the server company (slicehost)?
