3 days and no posts. This is not confidence inspiring for new investors.
You'll find that our slack chat is more active than this thread. Several more days of nothing. I was on slack and it was much much worse then I thought. Current discussion is about abandoning and making a counterparty 2. There needs to be regular updates and they need to be posted here. Right now I feel like I wasted several thousand dollars. The state of this project is not good. The effective strategy seems to be "wait and see what happens no matter how long it takes". Meanwhile competing projects press forward and gain mindshare even if their implementations are not perfect. Counterparty needs to implement Ethereum smart contracts in testnet ASAP or risk "too little too late" syndrome. I think it is on the testnet already for almost 1 year. It's just no one uses testnet. No, it's not.

Bitcrystals and Storj both run on Counterparty and have higher mcap than XCP.
XCP has a great potential as a betting token. The problem is just that ... it is a POTENTIAL ... no one currently uses Counterparty for betting. I'm working on javascript implementation. Once it is made, it will be trivial to do one-click betting with CounterTools.
Another use for XCP is for registering asset names. Almost 50.000 names have been created and several new ones are issued every day. Lately I've seen quite a few Japanese ones. It's cool to see CP gaining traction there. 0.5 XCP is burned for every asset, and since no new XCP is mined, the supply is actually deflating.
Of course, for the quick buck go with a speculative coin. If you want a larger share in something that MAY have real value in the future, then XCP should be considered.

Hi i noticed that you are doing javascript implementation. Is there anyway Counterparty and LISK ( Dapp currency for Javascript & Node Dapps https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1346646.0) could compliment eachother. Furthermore i don't think there is an issue with counterparty 2 if we could trade in counterparty tokens for counterparty 2 tokens.

If Smart Contracts someday coming working with Counterparty. Are that possible do XAsset backet by BTC and XAsset backet with XCP assets where backer doesn't have control for BTC/XCP and all exchange happen inside Bitcoin blockchain?

Yeah. You can do backed assets now if you'd like.

I haven't seen much going on here, is this project going anywhere? The price looks sweet at this moment in time and I would consider investing if I knew that the project is alive and moving forward.

I think since at least 10 hours the wallet servers are offline. What's wrong with that? No announcement here?
And I only found out now that you can't trade shares against bitcoin. Which means you have to create orders in xcp, which in turn means you constantly would have to check the prices of xcp to bitcoin and from bitcoin to fiat. Not funny.
I have heard about the problems with the bitcoin implementation and honestly I don't understand why the implementation was done with a timelock. Makes no sense for me for something that started to be an exchange.
I heard too that you might be able to trade in bitcoin but only through third party websites. Which means trusting them. Well, I would not need counterparty for that. I could use a normal exchange. I have to trust these too and we know how this turns out.
At least I heard that there are works done on a new implementation. Can't believe that this was not done correctly from the start. So now when I want to trade shares I have to constantly watch prices? I awaited better.
I was quite impressed of the really easy and intuitive design of xcp. But this is not cool. At least dividends can be paid out in bitcoin. But trading is a very important part of holding a share.
I wonder if someone official reads this at all...

We have many times hear that Counterparty is excellent because if BTC fail it can move to another chain.
If we think scenario where BTC will fail (i don't think it will happen) and Ethereum will come most used and best blockchain. What is Counterparties option then? As I understand when Counterparty can make everything what Ethereum can make, but in other way there is nothing what Ethereum can't make what Counterparty can?

What does it mean when we say Initialize Balances? It may not be clear from the initial introduction above and it does sound like a new concept.
It's not a new concept. See https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Proof_of_burn. Certainly, it's similar to what Nxt and Mastercoin did (but better). Right now no one owns any XCP, which we need a "fair, distributed and transparent" way of creating and distributing. Requiring people to publicly "destroy" BTC is a good way of doing that. Destroying btc is cool, but gambling till death to wager more is better.

Confirmed, working here too. Kudos on timely response and professionalism. On a sidenote, I think it's important for to get some visibility in the main altcoin discussion section, rather than be confined to this subsection, which many do not visit. We don't really get much new exposure. Other altcoins such as Monero, Ethereum and MAID are very visible there with prominent community discussion threads, inviting opportunities for new members unacquainted with the tech to peruse and promoting intelligent discourse. Perhaps someone could start a Blockchain 2.0/Smart contracting thread examining and discussing the various platforms available for tokenizing and representing assets on chain, and then introduce the angle of smart securities.? I would certainly contribute to explain all about how counterparty fits into the ecosystem, how it compares to other offerings, strengths & weaknesses and what exactly it brings to the table. I'm newbie member so I think it's better coming from someone established but will probably make it soon if no-one else does
