XCP's market cap has now exceeded Mastercoin's!
P.S. Bear in mind, that the current valuation is WITHOUT a popular desktop GUI (bounty still being decided I think) and web wallet.
P.P.S. How long do you think it'll be before the media perk up and notice a new Top 10 (or even Top 5?) coin?
Wow, this was much faster then I expected! (Seriously people, some of us need to work today ). true.. so true

Where do those 5 XCP go? Does this mean all XCP will be consumed eventually? Sounds strange... Sorry, I haven't done enough research yet... Announcement: The develop branch of counterparty now specifies that 5 XCP is destroyed in all future asset issuances (after block 281235 281236). If we decide to make this official, the fixed amount will be temporary, and should be determined by a distributed, proof-of-stake voting system as soon as possible.
PS: you are also working on a GUI? I was a fan of your Electrum builds in the past

I just sent the following to Coindesk, Bitcoin Magazine, MCMxchange, and Cryptsy. Matt, I hope you don't mind that I quoted you: Subject: Counterparty (XCP) Surpasses Mastercoin at Coinmarketcap.com All: Counterparty is a newly created, fully functioning, distributed exchange. We have just been listed on coinmarketcap.com and are currently the seventh largest cryptocurrency by market cap. In fact, we surpassed Mastercoin. Counterparty is one of the most fairly distributed coins in the crypto community, being distributed according to a "proof of burn" schema, where bitcoins were sent to an unspendable address as proof of their destruction, and XCP were awarded in exchange. No developers were enriched by this project. (P.S. I myself am just a community member; I have no official standing and I do not represent the development team.) Counterparty is a community created protocol, which allows anyone to make and use decentralized financial assets that utilize the bitcoin protocol as a transport layer in order to provide the following functionalities: - Distributed exchange - Financial derivatives - User created assets - Dividends - Betting Counterparty differs from projects that hope to eventually offer a similar functionality because: - Fully functioning - We are live. - No IPO - Counterparty is a currency, not a corporation. - No funding - Donation driven. - No corporate ties - Free from outside influences. - No fees - Free to use. - No hype - The technology speaks for itself. - Anonymous creators - Focus is on the protocol. - Fair initial distribution - Risk and opportunity were shared equally. - Development speed - Created from scratch in about a month. - Open source - Anyone can add additional functionality. Hmmmm I cant get this running. I cloned counterpartyd_build, then installed the python file, then reindexed bitcoin qt. Seems to start with server command and is catching up blocks. However sending doesnt work: counterpartyd send --source=address1 --destination=address2 --quantity=100 --asset=XCP It says: Transaction (unsigned): "HUGE NUMBER!" Confirm? (y/N) y Transaction aborted. So why is transaction aborted? I have sufficient XCP on address1 and sufficient BTC to pay the fee. Also I have set up bitcoin.conf and counterpartyd.conf correctly... Some Ideas whats wrong here?

Is there any easy to understand documentation on how to create an asset? I would like to offer some shares in a mining operation distributed in a decentralized exchange. I think it'll be a world first
Have you already setup counterpartyd first? http://counterpartyd-build.readthedocs.org/en/latest/Once you have done that and have some XCP then you need to execute an issuance on the command line https://forums.counterparty.co/index.php/topic,62.0.htmlI think it costs 5 XCP to create your asset and you need some dust in your bitcoin address to make the transaction.

It's currently a deterrent against spammer and trolls, and if the price is going north I am sure it will have to be revised because we can't risk it being too expensive to create an asset.

It is a work in progress, but please see the wiki: https://counterparty.co/wiki/assetsA more readable version of the wiki is forthcoming. In the meantime, please PM me if you have any questions.
