There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

About the valuation, it's really hard to tell. Between the marketcap of MSC & NXT seems fair since we're in the same league. But a leader has still to be determined in the 2.0 race, and Ethereum might shake up all this.

MSC has still not implemented the planned features, and NXT is too unevenly distributed (imho), with 2nd gen features only now starting to appear. So far, XCP seems the most actively used 2nd gen, which should give it a nice edge.

Right now it is all command line based.
If you are technically inclined you can follow the instructions in:
http://counterpartyd-build.readthedocs.org/en/latest/UsingTheInstaller.html#on-windows

If not a light weight GUI client and web client is coming up soon.

Busoni,

Last price is stuck for ever at 0.01311. It no longer follow the last trade. I suspect that make the price going down (near 0.01311).

I would like to add XCP to Litecoin Widget. I need an API call to get the current price, and a high-res transparent-background image of the logo. Can anyone point me to either?

well, speaking from the task at hand that I'm facing. The most important missing piece right now is the lightweight wallet . I just overheated my external usb drive that keeps bitcoin blockchain to rebuild counterparty db forcing me to migrate 20g of porn to free up space of my internal ssd in order to temporarily migrate bitcoin blockchain to it.

Hahaha, an act of personal sacrifice for XCP.

Dedicated blockchain, centralised PR (don't know if it's better), hype, probably a ton of money after the fundraise... and many promises (this one was sarcastic)

It seems that my selection of poloniex to pester to list XCP and getting XCP right next to mastercoin on coinmarketcap all happened. It sure didnt seem like it was easy to add XCP, and my guess is that most other exchanges wouldnt have stuck it out through all the issues, nor would they have been able to get it working as fast. Tristan is the best!!

Now we steal mastercoin's thunder before they are able to get any real world release out. The cat is out of the bag and now everybody that didnt know about counterparty will immediately compare working software with almost software.

I usually dont beg for tips, but I think I deserve one in this case. Feel free to express your euphoria!

+1

James,  what would you say are the next 5 most influential sites where we should get the word out about Counterparty?
From here, it fragments a lot. There is a second market cap site, can't remember it, but it wouldnt hurt to get it on there too. cryptocoincharts.info is a must!

I think a nice in depth article about XCP on bitcoinmagazine.com featuring the upcoming HTML wallet would be powerful. Even without that, getting active with reddit promotions, etc can start the planning phase. Want to hold off until web client is ready for any big marketing push. Working on an in depth article will take time, so we should start now, hopefully it will come out right around the time the web client is released.

I have suggested to Tristan to add an XCP/MSC pair. I think somebody here posted about letting people sell MSC to buy XCP, so I figured if the direct XCP/MSC pair was the only way, the market will have a way to directly trade how they are comparing counterparty to mastercoin.

By the time it is XCP 10 vs mastercoin 1, then bigger exchanges will have added counterparty on their own initiative. I dont think we should be pushing for any more exchanges as Poloniex is handling the current volumes nicely and he deserves to make some decent profits. In any case, we have Dex so all we need is one centralized exchange that people can buy their first XCP.

@all: I now see that 1 XCP can easily get around $70, thus 1000XCP will be worth $70000!!!!

Mastercoin in its happy days went above $100, so can't see any reason XCP won't reach soon $70.

No need to get on an exchange, just a bot that facilitates DEX trades with one.

DEX <> bot <> MSC (on central exchange)

An MSC asset could be issued, and outstanding units adjusted based on availability. This isn't the most relevant solution, but it is an option.

New parsing rules which should handle such trolls effectively will go into effect with block 286500.

Everyone, be sure to upgrade to at least v5.0.

Dont get carried away. You forgot about the 5:1 difference in total float. XCP $20 is equivalent to MSC $100 on a dilution basis. This is why it is always safer to do quick comparisons at the marketcap level, especially when both are 100% already fully issued

James

P.S. This being said, when BTC shakes off the current bad news and gets back on track to new highs, XCP could easily exceed MSC alltime highs on dilution basis.

On slightly unrelated note - the new NXT web-wallet demo is out and it looks sweet!
http://nxtra.org/nxt-client/

Use this pass for example:
g!9XZy9dDsN4HP6*qPtshVzJ8m%Jeg^WcXtyq*V@

Includes assets exchange, DEX, messaging, forging and more.
Hope XCP will at least strive for a similar look (we should do a bounty for it!)

So, if someone's order got stuck matched by this troll order, there is no way to get XCP back except to wait till the order expires as set by --expiration parameter? XCP will not be lost and get back to the owner again, not no quick way to get them back?

A question I just posted in the CP forum as well re the counterwalletd:

for the novice user: can you describe the future wallet functionality with regards to the addresses used for burning BTC:

will one be able to log in >>>> enter his address (previously 1BTC currently 1300 XCP for example) >>>>>> have his XCP available for use with the DEx? or will it still require non-technical people to write commands?
