In any case, we have Dex so all we need is one centralized exchange that people can buy their first XCP.
About the DEX, looks like we have another Troll... New parsing rules which should handle such trolls effectively will go into effect with block 286500. Everyone, be sure to upgrade to at least v5.0.So, if someone's order got stuck matched by this troll order, there is no way to get XCP back except to wait till the order expires as set by --expiration parameter? XCP will not be lost and get back to the owner again, not no quick way to get them back? Yes (as set by the minimum of the expirations of the two matched orders). But that'll change with block 286500, after which only 10 blocks will ever be allowed for BTC payments to be made.

The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

We have to find a way to prevent this almost cost less attack.

@all: I now see that 1 XCP can easily get around $70, thus 1000XCP will be worth $70000!!!!
Mastercoin in its happy days went above $100, so can't see any reason XCP won't reach soon $70.
Dont get carried away. You forgot about the 5:1 difference in total float. XCP $20 is equivalent to MSC $100 on a dilution basis. This is why it is always safer to do quick comparisons at the marketcap level, especially when both are 100% already fully issued James P.S. This being said, when BTC shakes off the current bad news and gets back on track to new highs, XCP could easily exceed MSC alltime highs on dilution basis. Agreed, I don't look at fiat or individual unit price (it's arbitrary) when doing comparisons. I always look at BTC value of market cap.

I agree with James. We need it to get listed on the second and third marketcap sites cryptmarketcap.com and www.cryptocoincharts.info. We also need to get it on as many altcoin exchanges as possible; I just emailed vircurex.com, bter.com and cryptsy.com; asking them to add Counterparty and showing them that Poloniex had.

for reindexing, just right click your bitcoin shortcut, click properties, and in the target box, after the " add -reindex so it should end like bitcoin-qt.exe" -reindex save, and click the shortcut and bitcoin-qt will start to reindex. change it back to normal so it won't reindex the next time you use the shortcut

XCP is not another altcoin. The key is to improve the Dex. Without a working reliable DEX, put it on more exchanges is just a pump and dump. It may make the early investors rich quickly, but never a real success. For those who have tens of thousands of XCP, I don't think you can liquidate all you holding by just pump and dump. A real DEX is a must.

The current users are all alpha testers. We shouldn't have too much alpha testers. Too many disappointed users may kill this project.

I agree, its too early to list on a bunch of centralized exchanges, and that's really not the goal of the project anyways.

I agree, its too early to list on a bunch of centralized exchanges, and that's really not the goal of the project anyways. +1 For the long term viability we need to help the devs come out with a user friendly wallet and DEX so that the entry barrier is lowered. Not everyone is comfortable with command line and it is not very idiot proof either. If the least we can do is test the system, then that' what we must do and pass on the feedback in a manner that is consumable by the devs. Secondly, there are stray enquirers by people who want to issue stocks, we must help these guys out. the more stocks that can be issued and sold on the platform means more people will automatically want XCP since they will need it to buy their preferred asset.

You are probably in a 32 bit operating system. Just use the one in C:\Program Files \Bitcoin

Yes (as set by the minimum of the expirations of the two matched orders). But that'll change with block 286500, after which only 10 blocks will ever be allowed for BTC payments to be made. Will this change at block 286500 release all currently stuck matched orders or will it be effective for new orders only? Why not make sellers of BTC escrow their BTC as well, just like sellers of XCP have to escrow? Is this technically impossible? At the very least, to check against their BTC balance before letting them place an order if BTC is actually available in their wallet. This doesn't stop them from making many small troll orders with small amounts, so escrow is still better if possible.

If someone doesn't want his order to be filled by a troll, he should raise his fee_required; the lower one's fee_required is, the cheaper it is for a troll to fill his order.

I think it is correct to say that the recently mentioned troll wall is made using counterparty 4.0 - the fee_provided is listed as .018 and it is verifiable not a percentage, if someone is matched with this using a percentage fee higher than 0.000009188 then it should be reported as a bug -
