In talking about potential competition coming in, stealing ideas or code or coming out with similar products or even other competitors who may or may not have products with faster block times (like clearinghouse) I have only this to say: A lot of my professional experience has been in business and marketing (business to business and corporate), in that world you come to learn some important facts very fast, namely it doesn't matter if your competitors have slightly better products or even slightly better deals. It comes down at the end of the day to how like-able you are. Assuming 5 people show up trying to sell a product, and all products are similar (even if 1 or 2 are slightly better or worse), the real determining factor in success will simply be if those who are pitching their product come off as better prepared, more understanding of peripheral technologies and companies within their sector and are people who the buyers of the product will get along with more and can imagine doing future business with rather than which product is "technically" a bit better. I use that example to bring up something Patrick Byrne said about his choice on choosing Counterparty devs for Medici over the other projects which brought similar products (which may have been potentially slightly better or worse technically). His specific reason was that of all those in the 2.0 space offering cryptographic asset platforms, Counterparty devs had similar philosophy as Patrick, similar drive, and he felt he could get along with them more and thus instantly saw a future of doing business with them. This level of preparedness in the Bitcoin space as well as their ability to make sound and quick judgement calls that get shit done the right way the "FIRST" time is not something you can find easily even if you were to look at other platforms with similar technology...Also keep in mind that there are plenty of genius people who can spend years innovating, but you can't just look at the crypto-coin space from a computer science perspective, you also have to look at it from a business perspective, WHO will be the first to bring real and usable products to market? This is why I have full faith that Counterparty will reign supreme in this 2.0 space, they have all the tools not just technically but also mentally and spiritually that will be needed to be the global leader in providing cryptographic asset creation and now smart contracts as well +100 I agree. The straightforward and non-megalomaniac approach the Counterparty Devs used in their whitepaper is what initially won me over. They seem like a group that knows how to play well with themselves and others vs. the socially impaired ego maniacs we all too often see in this space.

how's the gui wallet development coming along? Something that is somewhat of a plugin for the standard bitcoin wallet would be super! similar to how namecoin and others took the bitcoin wallet and modified it to their needs.
how many dictionary words does the webwallet choose your password from?
Please provide links/references if possible, thanks!

There are more than 5600 assets on the Counterparty( http://blockscan.com/asset). With the application and the value of Counterparty increasing(especially the Medici project carried out by Overstock and Counterparty team), I am confident about that those tokens issued on Counterparty will have blooming prospect. Here is the purposes of this topic: 1) Create and active the assets tokens market for Counterparty, like the Domain Name trading for Internet; 2) Provide buying/selling info of the assets tokens; 3) Expose those fake assets tokens. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=859163.0

I would like to announce a 15 XCP Bounty for completing the German translation of Counterwallet, and another 15 XCP for the Finnish translation!https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/counterwallet/I know it's not much, but I hope it can provide at least some motivation to contribute to open-source.

So many fake and useless tokens @ the counterparty. It is time to restrict the unchecked assets issuing or to improve the issuing cost.

Asset names are like stock symbols, you don't need an exact match to the name of your project. There will be entire businesses built around asset and issuer reputation.

It's a decentralized protocol, nobody can restrict anyone else from accessing it, issuing assets, etc.

Hi there,
If I want to create a sort of hedge fund whose shares will be available on a decentralized exchange, what law I am breaking and what I am risking?
Under what circumstances the "illegal security offering" thing of the SEC applies?
I am talking about a hedge fund in my case but I guess it will be a big question for anyone who want to use the DEX to issue shares of their company. If traditional financial regulation applies to DEX it could pretty much annihilate the whole point of having a decentralized exchange.

There are teams working on solutions to the block speed issue. I saw presentations nearly 10 months ago and heard of some other proposals. eventually this will be solved.

Yes, please retweet this if you can. Also, with all the recent XCP news I'm even MORE excited about BitSIM. http://www.bitsim.co/Imagine being able to send and receive XCP assets on close to any cellphone ever (no smartphone needed). Maybe even participate in smart contracts...

It's best to ask a lawyer who specializes in securities law. This is an interesting post on the topic. http://lawbitrage.typepad.com/blog/2014/11/cryptoequity-regulation.html
