Its back.
I know I keep saying that I have to move it to better hardware. Going to happen sooner or later.

What kind of hardware is needed?  Could it be run on a raspberry pi?

trading: forum members do private trades using NDL or other currencies
goods: instant noodles for NDL (for example)

Instant noodles is intriguing... though I'm not sure how private trades would be done appropriately.  You up to applying any of those ideas for some NDL?

What does instant noodles in this context even stand for? Is it the real food that should me more quickly exchangeable with NDL?

Not really, needs a bit more power. In theory it could work, in reality it would probably be more grief then it's worth.
I have a few older i5 based systems that I can probably cannibalize starting Sept 1st. Probably put one of those in.

and the irony is i have an iquidus NDL instance (and others Smiley ) running on my 8core 24gig AMD linux system, but have only a consumer/home internet connection and so really cant invite outside access. especially with bell.ca network blocking http/https traffic (to all ports) transiting its network to what it deems to be 'home users'. i'm not even a bell.ca customer Sad
here it is, dont use it Smiley http://coins.dognose.net:3001/
my firewall will limit to 3 or 4 connections, so you may get denied, if your internet traffic routes over bell.ca 's network, it wont work either. explorer updates at 10 minute intervals.

What does instant noodles in this context even stand for? Is it the real food that should me more quickly exchangeable with NDL?

I believe that was the premise, in the context of "real food" being anything containing and or associated with actual noodles.

This is a bit weird then. Is there really the need for a coin that is focussed on everything that has to do with noodles? Cheesy

Openledger.io Crypto-bridge.org Rudex.org Gdex.io

Those are the most popular ones.

You do not have to be listed on each of these. You only need one since the they all share the same blockchain and order book. Anyone can use the "Find Market" tool in the Exchange part of the wallet to find your coin from any gateway site.

Barterdex has my attention, but I lack the experience they insist on their page (java etc).  I think I have most, if not all of the necessary information.  If you want to work that out, I'm sure I can get all the necessary information.

Ok but coin for pastafarians could very well suggest that this has at least some sort of focus on products that have to do with noodles. Wink

yeah, thats why i love that thread! ;-)

i always asked myself what these pool noodles are really for ...

Thanks for the good instruction on your page, dnp!

http://dognose.net/~ndl/

I am trying to open my node, too, so perhaps network is a bit more stable. [edit: this did not work out so far ...but i'll try further]

by the way: the whole suggestions of getting NDL on an exchange etc again - is this possible at all, as we are not the devs of this coin?

remind that posts from December 2017:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=396227.msg26757809#msg26757809

sent out coin requests to yobit and coinsmarkets Wink

Good idea, I hope you have had all the info they need.
Only thing is: We are a bit old in code I think, though its from 2014. ;-)
But I am pretty sure, they could love NDL, anyway.
Its a nerdy coin for people with a sense of humour.
Thats why I still think, its worth a try, too.

Perhaps we should do it like in the Hexx coin takeover: A new chain with a snapshot of the old - well on from the beginning and seed.
I do think, this could be a great idea, - BUT:
This is otherwise risky in a lot of ways, who has followed the interesting hexx project knows what i mean!
as the new devs have been cheated several times by fellows ... every coin is only as trustfully as its participating people ... and the big fault they made, was doing anything completely anonymously (also between each other), due to the concept of developing a "privacy coin", so now the trace to the stolen 15.000 HEXX is gone with the chain ...

Here the "historic" video from hexx dev shiki0 on youtube, after 1 min and 40 seconds and later after 4 minutes again, he begins to declare, what actually happend to them, video is just 6 weeks old:

https://www.youtube.com/embed/KBKJkj3n28c

In short: The trick of the thief has been to get that coins from the new devs (shiki0 and others) themselves and for paying and so organizing the listing at a major exchange, after gaining their trust.

The person got the bunch of coins - of course anonymously - and simply ran away with it! :-D
Shortly before that happened, I had a few disputes with that guy in the ann thread - and i felt something could be smelling untasty there - which made me throwing all my hexx coins back to markets.
This time, at least, I wasn't one of the dear poor landlubbers in the market. ...

But - though everything is great fun - we should be totally aware of such things. At least, my little fish feed trown in.

by the way: the whole suggestions of getting NDL on an exchange etc again - is this possible at all, as we are not the devs of this coin?

Like any coin (even bitcoin) a set of devs could overtake the existing blockchain if enough people followed them, the same applies here.

However, with this coin, the original dev is no longer a part of the project (and not for a lack of trying on the part of us new guys).  My update to the NDL code wasn't a hard fork, so no one was really required to follow it and it doesn't conflict with the pre-existing wallets or blockchain.  Though I did hard code some checkpoints.  Previously the last checkpoint was dated from around 2014 (I think).

So its completely possible for us to get NDL on an exchange, but the question is, does anyone who supports NDL have the know-how and or the financial resources to achieve that goal?

If you didn't see it:

Github Repo is : https://github.com/number435398/noodlyappendagecoin

Direct link for Windows Wallet is : https://github.com/number435398/noodlyappendagecoin/blob/master/noodlyappendagecoin-qt%20V0.0.3.exe

Remember to backup your wallet.dat file before doing anything!  There have been no reported problems, but if you're the first have a problem, I don't want you to lose your stuff (this is a good rule to follow regarding any crypto-currency).

Thanks for the good instruction on your page, dnp!

http://dognose.net/~ndl/

by the way: the whole suggestions of getting NDL on an exchange etc again - is this possible at all, as we are not the devs of this coin?

thank-you!
i'm willing to add/modify those instructions if given suggestions.

in the back of my mind i keep thinking i'd like to open an exchange just for obscure altcoins that i support out of my whimiscal nature and the name of the coin.  and possibly other coins that bribe me with a monthly listing fee.

it would only exchange with LTC and Doge markets and no BTC support since presumably such obscure coins would not achieve high enough valuations.

butt... i need to locate *good* open-source exchange code to run on linux.

and i need to be convinced the exchange fees would pay the monthly virtual server costs after the first couple months of setup and operation. say $15euro/month to start and increasing with higher usage loads -- this seems very very unlikely without finding altcoins willing to pay monthly listing fees in BCH, LTC or Doge.

i'd also run iquidus explorers for each altcoin on the exchange.

and of course provide download links for the inevitably modified coin daemons/wallets i run, along with a simple web page describing the coin (like my above ndl link.)

i can make the time to admin (and minor modify) stuff, just not the focused undisturbed time to develop new code

and of course there will be dealing with DDOS attacks (i'd be inclined to just let them happen, until the botnet gets bored and moves on to other victims.)

but, alas, this is all just an unlikely dream Smiley
