I'm curious why people are still mining this?

Because they see potential in this coin so they invest their mining power in it? Each person's taste is different. Where one see DOGE as trashcoin (like me), others see it as a good coin (marketing coin). Each person has their own reason. If this is trashcoin, let the market decide and not by one person (AtlantisPlatform) tell you whether it is a trash or not...nor let other people who call him stupid. Decide for yourself whether it is trashcoin or innovative coin. Don't let what other posts decide for you.

Oh absolutely, I completely agree with you. I am just wondering what *actual* reasons people have / what evidences leads them to think it's worth mining compared to other altcoins Smiley

Oops...I read your question wrong. I apologize. Well, for me, I believe there are several reasons.

1: They mine as a pump and dump.
2: They believe it is a good marketing coin because of the smooth launch and the initial distributions.
3: They believe dev. will make Smartcoin unique.
4: They're noobs.

THis is just a very clever way of 'premining' admin ignores us to let the coin 'die'. He and he's friends keep mining like crazy. When it hits coinmarketcap and cryptsy it will grow same with the marketing.
we already have 200+ votes.

Its called smartcoin not pumpanddumpleafcoin ok?

And if you sell your mined smartcoins you will still earn allot more $ then mining dogecoin.

I'm not letting this coin "die", I've been busy with real life stuff and I haven't had as much time devoted to SmartCoin as much as I did. That doesn't mean I'm not going to continue development. I'm still accepting pull requests on Github, I'm still fixing any issues that need to be fixed, and I'm talking to someone who could market SMC better than I could.

SmartCoin isn't going away, whether you like it or not.

The reason why SMC isn't on coinmarketcap is because it hasn't hit CoinedUp. CoinMarket.io does not have a publicly accessible API, but I did reverse-engineer an endpoint which can tell you the price. But neither have responded to my requests. We need more community effort behind these motions otherwise we'll never be known.

Go and get CoinedUp's attention at: http://www.reddit.com/r/CoinedUp/comments/1wicv9/request_to_add_smc_smartcoin_is_the_next_big/ and retweet our callout to them!

Thank you! Please communicate more frequently even if it's to say that you've been too busy. Some communication is better than none, imho. This is promising and reassuring so thank you again, really. Any words on the high transaction fees as noted by others in the official forums?

I also tried to contact the dev @ Coinmarket in multiple ways (forum public, pm, IRC) but didn't get a reply. Fingers crossed for something soon on that.

I've been trying to avoid talking about the high TX fees just to see what would happen after a while. It looks like there is a slump in the net hashrate and hash.so seems to own about 100% of the network. So a hardfork would be required to lower the fees, otherwise a real blockchain fork will happen. It shouldn't be too much of a problem, since I'd get the admin of hash.so to update his client and announce to everyone. Ideally, I'd like to add Kimoto's Gravity Well during that client release to avoid another hardfork. Any opinions on what the new TX fee should be?

Hey smartcoin, can you maybe have a blog or something to update us once in a while (once a week or something like that) to see what you are doing to promote this coin?

Tough to say really. It seems that the clients I've used impose a tx fee of 0.001 regardless of type. Ideally the tx fee would float but I understand that'll come later probably led by Mike Hearn in a bitcoin wallet release first and foremost and it can be integrated into other wallets based off that. The coins are tough to mine so it shouldn't be too high.

How can we guarantee security given hash.so now has >51% of network?

Good idea. It is popular enough for it own blog. It will also add one more hit when people search the web besides this thread.

It's tough to call, he doesn't seem willing to shut down his pool for a while. Trying to switch them all to a different pool may result in the difficulty dropping too much and could become instamining season.

Alright, sounds good. I'll open up a Tumblr in a bit. I'll have to CNAME it to the domain, so it may take a bit to propagate.

Install Homebrew:

Code:
ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.github.com/Homebrew/homebrew/go/install)"

Then install BerkeleyDB 4.8:

Code:
brew install berkeley-db4

I just wrote above about price. All you, who sold at 0.00005-0.00006 will be very surprised when simulateneously price will go up to 0.00010 first and then then to 0.00020. I watched for the rates of the coin and somebody (i don't know if this is one person) buy all big orders above 0.00008.

Sure, they don't want you to know about they plans. Price could drop to 0.00002-3 and you now help to drop the price down, letting to buy many many cheap SMC. They wait for all miners to panic sell all their coins at 0.0005. They want you to act like this. Many many will be sad that they sold now. Somebody screaming that coin will die... It won't die even if this coin will be abandoned by devs.

My advices...
For those who want to buy SMC and get good profit, soon will be a good moment to buy, don't miss it. Today at the price 0.00005 is good too, but price would drop some more.
Who missed a moment, don't panic buy at 0.00020. You can lose money. Price will be at 0.00030, maybe higher in the peek, but you will need to sell quickly.
Who want to sell, I advice now waiting to 0.00020-30.
