There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

The nice new forum, open for 5 minutes has already been spammed.

 Angry

Yeah, he was in here a while back spamming the same thing. Sadness.
A suggestion to devs if I may.

Another forum category for the sole purpose of spam placement.
Any spam outside that folder will get an ip ban.
Better still, their skull crushed by an elephant.

I would even buy the elephant for such purposes!

Again, I'm sorry, I will send proportionately some SMC to all the addresses (listed below) that were mining on my pool as soon as I get my hands on it.

These were the stats at shutdown:

SZRhhBy92TwvxAE16PcABKBgqFoLq13RKb   25.45242579
STCJRRZXZoFe2fUULLs5ycHt8gozkH3zVh   22.48704027
ScwzjRiP9bxsgNs9VcpWgx2xkBRYSGeN9Y   11.68843214
Sj33Vq1LmGPP56sWF68HuQhPtBATHsR1mR   3.31473452
SWH6mJhSRnq8xwjv2kCSsc1kZgvmut52H3   0.82868363
SNYbk7WWs8tqZ5DB8jKETFMMSWAgrKTqDw   0.82868363
SgH5SRFXxFX4FPEJ3WsLJgG5DUMmZwoNJF   2e-8

As promised, I just sent out 15 SMC (minus some rounding errors) proportionately divided over the addresses (except for my addresses and the 2e-8 one) that mined on the "meta"-pool:

Quote
Status: 0/unconfirmed, broadcast through 3 nodes
Date: 1/28/14 22:27
To: SZRhhBy92TwvxAE16PcABKBgqFoLq13RKb
Debit: -7.3304 SMC
To: STCJRRZXZoFe2fUULLs5ycHt8gozkH3zVh
Debit: -6.4763 SMC
To: Sj33Vq1LmGPP56sWF68HuQhPtBATHsR1mR
Debit: -0.9028 SMC
To: SWH6mJhSRnq8xwjv2kCSsc1kZgvmut52H3
Debit: -0.2387 SMC
Net amount: -14.9482 SMC
Transaction ID: 903c71edc321684eead59fec5948f4ebceae63044d24ce842f4fdcfda1262fa3

I hope the new pool is working out well for everyone now. Efficiency has been going up all day so I hope the DOA spikes are over now. Still getting a lot of DOA from SdX4M9EfKnrhJ44DtCB4UHDPw8rdaDJRi7. If he/she doesn't care, neither do I, although it will stop the efficiency from going up further.

I still have not received my email for the 45 SMC, or the 15 SMC. I assume they are working on it, but I wanted to double check on where things are at.

I don't think most have yet, AND, you need to remove the 60 Free coins from your sig, it confuses newcomers and is no longer valid.

I do not believe that only 71 people mined smartcoin if you do not want to end up like other currencies are not on cryptsy, you need to vote:

where is the original OP??...crap...my wallet just unsynced again...this sucks big time...also...how exactly is a wallet 'copied' to another computer (and have the same address)...and please spare us the computerese lingo...just simple instructions please...

Wow, you are a newbies noob alright, like me 3 weeks ago. Cheesy

The original OP is always PAGE 1, POST 1.
The top of PAGE 1 where the big smartcoin logo is and all the info about nodes and urls to forum, etc.

It always helps those that are trying to help you, if you state in your original cry for help, what your operating system is.
e.g. windows, mac, osx, etc. and the version. e.g. winxp, win7, win8, win8.1, etc.

Because, different versions, like windows, may have things placed in different places (directories or folders).
If you don't specify to us, what you have, 99% of people will respond to you, as if you have the same setup as them.
That can be very confusing.

The file that has been mentioned, wallet.dat, is your electronic wallet, it has the information in it that has your wallet address and how many coins you have.

This is the ALL CRITICAL file that you must always back up.

wallet.dat is the most important file in your life from now on, got it?

You should make more than one copy of it, because if the wallet.dat file is ever corrupted or lost, so are all your coins.
In computer memory, a single bit flip can really ruin your day. This is when, for various reasons, solar gamma rays, background radiation, worn out, whatever, a bit, a 0 or a 1, can flip to the opposite state.
If that happens to your only backup, it is toast.

When you have coins in your wallet, you should encrypt it with a password, this stops thieves stealing your coins should they get hold of your wallet.

If you loose your password, you will also never see your coins again.

I can see people jumping out windows in the future because they have lost their wallets due to failing an appropriate back up approach.

You say you are in China.

The CPC, Chinese Communist Party have in operation, The Great Firewall.
The nodes that you are attempting to connect to, may not have been screened by the CPC yet for being allowed in China.
I do not recommend using a proxy to access unapproved or forbidden ip or website.
A visit from the CPC or police will also ruin your day big time.

The smartcoin installer is a nice thing.

I think you have figured out that the smartcoin.conf file is where you place the information about nodes for the wallet or daemon to use for connections to the network. The smartcoin-qt is a nice looking graphical interface or gui for the daemon, the daemon is a command line window program, remember DOS, the black screen with the white writing?

At all times, remain calm, (or try to) the members will always do their best to help you.
You WILL get there eventually, it is a steep learning curve, if you have never done it before.
It can seem like being tossed out the door of the plane before anyone explained where the ripcord was.
Don't Panic.

As I was writing, a message came up, someone has just sent me some smart coin.
Thank you, much appreciated.

If you ever have an error with the blockchain, (the blockchain is the record of all transactions), you will need to delete the corrupted blockchain and start again.
To do this, SAVE YOUR wallet.dat several times in a folder with the date on it.
e.g. fredswallet-bak-1.dat fredswallet-bak-2.dat fredswallet-bak-3.dat
Also copy the smartcoin.conf as you will need to put it back again so the daemon or qt-gui can connect again to the network.

Delete everything in the smartcoin folder where the smartcoin.conf file is.

Start the qt program, let it run for a few seconds.
It will re-create the deleted folder that had the damaged blockchain in it.
Stop the qt program and put back your smartcoin.conf and your wallet.dat backup, rename it to what the program always wants to see, wallet.dat.

Start the qt program again, it should connect and start downloading the blockchain.
You will see your coins in unconfirmed instead of balance, in this case because the wallet.dat says x coins in wallet, but the blockchain hasn't been completely obtained yet. When the block that has your transaction of coin in it is loaded, they will move from unconfirmed to balance.
For coins that have been in operation for some time, this can take over a day and be larger than a gigabyte.

If I have stuffed up somewhere people, break it to me gently, I'll make the edit.

Ni hao to your Chinese friend.
