Last message I got from smartcoin was a couple of questions not a definite conclusion, from your response I thought you were part of the dev team giving me that response but I guess I was wrong so I still haven't got a firm response.

[..]

sorry all if you have such bad impression.

I'm sorry that so it worked out.
Hold on. Good Luck

Bla, bla, bla...
The dev did a great job. Sorry for your "lost". But it was only a very small amount of free coins. So... please stop it now. Most of the ppl. have gotten their free coins. Maybe you made a mistake, maybe they made one. Take a look at the other giveaways and take 1-3 of these. THANKS!!!
As I say its not at all about the coins as its is a very small amount and I did get good returns of what I mined, its about the way it was handled.

I know its annoying to see bad impressions about coins you like but I do believe that impressions good or bad should be voiced on open forums so people can see things from multiple points of view. This was my experience and thoughts on the coin, I hope the dev reads them and uses it to better the coin as it is the main reason I have spent the time to write about them.

As I say I thought the coin had great potential and the best way to improve is to bring the negative points out into the open and deal with them. If they are not dealt with other people should know what they might be getting into, this is only my experience but I have seen others saying their PMs have been ignored and the removal of mention of the premine are two important issues in my eyes.

How much SMC were you entitled too?

Can you walk me through the update process? I have 322 coins I do not want to lose =/ I made a wallet.dat file. How would I make sure my coins are kept? Could I just send them to coinex, reinstall new wallet then send them back to myself? I know Id lose a few but its better than losing them all.

Last message I got from smartcoin was a couple of questions not a definite conclusion, from your response I thought you were part of the dev team giving me that response but I guess I was wrong so I still haven't got a firm response.

If the reason for lack of communication after release was because he felt like he had pushed it out the door and it was time for a rest he was very naive as the first week after release is one of the most critical IMO.

I agree there was too much panic about the preregistration at release but that was not at all from me, I waited a couple of days after they had announced the emails were rolling out before enquiring and then sent what I thought was a courteous PM asking if they were still rolling out or if something had gone wrong to which I had no response, this is the point where I decided to stop supporting SMC, I really didn't care about the 45 SMC but it would have been nice to make up for mining all the 1 SMC reward blocks helping get the network setup, if he had of replied and just said sorry something must have gone wrong we have no record of you registering so we cannot award you any coins I would have been a little disappointed but accepted it and stayed with the coin but after everything else being completely ignored was a deal breaker, though with the premine I think awarding the coins anyway would have been a nice gesture, especially being I was posting before the release which is the only thing I have going for me to show I'm not just BSing about preregistering. In turn I would have left good feedback on the thread letting people know of the devs generosity helping to promote a coin with caring devs as I often do with Noble.

Speaking of the premine I now notice all mention of it has been stripped from the main post, that is not a good look IMO as premines, while I'm not against them, are an important bit of information to know about when looking into a coin, hiding it is not cool and even releasing the premines wallet address with an open ledger is the best way to go if you want a premine to be taken seriously.

I also notice this "All emails have been sent, if you did not get an email, your registration didn't go through or our filter caught an anomaly. If we couldn't find you in our database at all, do not continue messaging us." on the main page which makes me think I'm not the only one who's preregistration somehow got lost.

All in all I have been left with a fairly bad impression of this coin now which is a shame because it did look like it could have had real potential but is now shadowed by (as much as I hate to use the word) scamish actions I (and the other miners I manage) will be moving on. Personally with other solid long term options like Noble where there is basically nothing you can say bad against the coin, devs and community and coins like max and panda that while aren't appealing to me in the long term can generate huge profits for miners in the short term, I really cant see the point in sticking around with this coin.

If the devs can be more involved dealing with things that they might not want to deal with rather then just ignoring them and re-add a mention of the premine, wallet address and ledger to the main post I will honestly wish them all the best but as it stands I hope people take the time to look around and realise there are other better options whether you are looking for a long term community or just highly profitable short term mining.

You're the only case I've seen so far that their email never ended up matching.

This was our last reply to you:

still hasn't received my smartcoin giveaway on my email  Cry i regret investing in this coin

Do you get email? If not check SPAM folder. And please write PM to dev Smartcoin

If yes do you enter your wallet address on page http://getsmartcoin.com/redeem/ ?

Best regards.

I got no email, nothing in spam folder too. I sent message to dev. No reply for 5 days now??
If yes do you enter your wallet address on page http://getsmartcoin.com/redeem/ ? < what is the point of going there if i havent received a email yet?
I'm in the same boat, no email, not in junk either and PMed dev 4 days ago with no reply Sad

Unlike awais3344, we do not have your email you PM'd us. We checked the database before being filtered and you are not in there, not even a variation of what you provided us. Are you sure you got a success message when you signed up?

Do you know of any other email you could have possibly used?

The thing with the premine giving out the premine addresses is that they change every time I send some coins. So they'd have to be updated every time. I'd be happy to make a ledger on the website. So far only 100k have been given out. There's till about 300k left to give out.

I'm sorry we've had this misunderstanding, but in my eyes, I did my job by replying. I can sometimes miss some posts or just acknowledge them and forget about them, but I'm willing to change.

Hello everyone. I am a novice miner and my first coin, it smartcoin. This is a very nice coin, thanks to the creators! Unfortunately, I could not get it to start from the beginning. I have one video card, Radeon 5770, it gives a total of 140 kh/s. I want to make my first farm, but I'm 14 years old, and I did not have enough money for a new video card Sad If you do not mind, please help me, I'll be very grateful to you Smiley I have created a new wallet for this, I am afraid that with the old can steal my coins.

I just downloaded the wallet and installed.  I'm getting an error I haven't seen before:

An error occurred while setting up the RPC port 58583 for listening: open: An address incompatible with the requested protocol was used.

Any tips on defeating this horrid monster?

An error occurred while setting up the RPC port 58583 for listening: open: An address incompatible with the requested protocol was used.

Any tips on defeating this horrid monster?

Why?
New wallet includes a number of amendments:
  • Kimoto's Gravity Well - smart algorithm changes the difficulty of digging.
Allows coin to protect against sudden changes hash power (anti multipool).
Digging coins will be more predictable in the long term.
  • significantly lower transaction fees.

Why update is necessary and mandatory?
Soon will be hard fork coin. Only new fork will be the official and continue working.
Be smart switch to the correct fork.

When?
Fork will come with mining block number 35000 for about 1 h
(depending on the network hashrate and its growth)

Current block number you find at:

How check wallet version?
In your wallet search option menu Debug window -> console.
Run command getinfo

Code:
{
    "version" : 1010000,
    "protocolversion" : 60002,
    "walletversion" : 60000,

If protocolversion = 60002 then you have new wallet version  -> update is not required

How upgrade?

  • Backup your wallet.dat - This file is in %appdata%/smartcoin

    Where is %appdata% ?
WIN: Start -> run -> cmd
    cd %appdata% [ENTER]

WIN XP: C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data
(in non English Windows version "Application Data" can be in your local language)

    WIN 7+:  C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Roaming\

    Linux: ~/.smartcoin

Copy wallet.dat in safe place - Pendrive, CD
or different directory (folder) on your hard disk.

Advise against the use of Online wallets (for any coin).
Do not use Smartcoin online wallet!

You should make backup wallet.dat often, after several coin transfers.
Best is keep a few copies of the wallet.

  • Go to first page Smartcoin thread
    https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=400893.0

Download version according to your OS.

  • Install new version as just like the first time.

  • Run wallet, wait for sync and check balance and your wallet version (as above described)

Tell a Friend about mandatory update?
You know someone who might have an old wallet Smartcoin? Please tell her / him to update.

More info?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=400893.0

REMEMBER Before update make copy (backup) your wallet.dat

Do not wait for the last moment. We can reach 35000 block faster than we assume.

Best Regards.

Symbiont don't be rude, I was talking about the people dumping the coin ...
I´m very sorry, I don´t want to be rude. But I'm tired of reading unsubstantiated predictions. On what is your analysis based? I'm always interested in substantiated analyzes.

Edit: Nobody is dumping SMC atm. The price doesn´t move since hours.

There's a Lot movement (Buy and sell), but prices still stay the same... Where are the people to push the prices up?
