There's still room in Group Buy #2, please see the thread here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=418166
Group buy #1 sold out.

The Mine is up and running and we are extending the Group Buy to 200 300 shares.  160 shares worth of hardware is currently hashing, next 120 shares are expected to start mining on Monday Jan 13th and the final 20 shares should be up no later than Saturday Jan 18th (of course we'll try for sooner!). Payouts will be prorated this week only, with the first owners getting 100% on their shares, and 2nd/3rd batch getting 5/7th prorate. I'm buying the final 20 shares personally so  everyone else will get a payout this Saturday!  Also the hosting fees are have been reduced for all of as a result of this. This group buy now consists of 30 Antminers and a full batch 1 Neptune.

300 Shares is the HARD limit for our space, NO MAS....The next group buy will occur only once we have space ready for the miners.  We are moving to a large cage ASAP. Rest assured, we're launching a professional miner colocation company and will be doing more group buys in the future. We have 10MW  worth of power at our disposal!  Any shares sold beyond the 280 shares will be refunded. I'm watching carefully, but it's difficult when some buy 40 at once. If you are wanting to get in on this historic first Ninja group buy, you better act fast

The Ninjas got together to bring you this phenomenal group buy opportunity. I am located in the same city as GreaterNinja, the Bitmain ANTMiner US Distributor, so we get instant delivery right to the data center! These miners will be up and hashing this week, guaranteed by my personal hash rate. This is NOT a pre-order. The miners are en-route and we begin hashing this Saturday! You take ZERO preorder risk as I am guaranteeing the hash power of this group buy with my personal mine. If for some reason our order get's delayed or there are any snafus getting the cabinet up and running, I will personally deliver the hashes.

Who am I?
I'm an open source developer, and a Bitcoin mining hardware addict. I've run out space at several mining locations, and finally "bit the bullet" and moved into a world class datacenter. We are talking about a 24 hour security (multiple redundant power systems, back-up generators, back-up back-up generators, pre-chilled water tanks for back-up cooling, retina-scan access) professional data center. I am the Meetup coordinator for the Arizona Bitcoin Meetup group (now 90 members strong; Bitcoin is kicking ass in PHX!!!). I've met many people from Bitcointalk and prominent members of the community in person as well. I've run a few Bitcoin related projects, designed my own Bitfury USB miner (ouch on that story), and pretty much eat, sleep, drink, live and breathe Bitcoin 24/7/365.

A full-time employee at the datacenter is a group buy owner. Our hardware is getting the coldest spot in the house, and will be well supervised! No more intense heat, fire risk, angry wife, or surprise electric bills. Let us host your miner(s) in an ICE COLD datacenter.

This Group Buy Includes:
  • 30 Bitmain ANTMINER S1 Units
  • First 30 days of hosting included FREE!
  • Power supply rental included FREE!
  • Miners hosted securely behind a firewall: priceless

The ANTMINER S1 Units are power competitive with offerings in the 28nm range, so they should perform well up until the difficulty is up to 300M. Being hosted in a professional data center gives the group buy owner the advantage of the best uptime and lowest ping times to the pools to reduce stale shares. If the majority of group buy owner agree, we will adjust the clocks to extract the maximum potential hashrate from the ANTMiner ASICs. Our spot in the data center is Freezing OMG cold. You don't get a spot like this unless you know all the ins-and-outs of a raised floor installation. We believe we can get most of the units into 200GH+ if the owners agree to overclock.

Terms

Payouts will be paid weekly. After the first 30 days, weekly hosting/management charges of USD $49.99 44.99 per unit ($4.49 per share) will be assessed to the group buy. No additional management charges apply. The hosting charges will be deducted at the exchange-rate obtained by the group buy from a provider such as Coinbase. After 90 days of weekly hosting (120 days from start of mining), you may choose to pay your weekly fees in USD, so that you can keep the maximum amount of bitcoin that your hardware generates. If you own a multiple of 10x shares, you may choose to take physical possession of your hardware, after the initial 120 day period. NOC fee and shipping fee NTE $99 per unit apply.

You agree as a group buy owner to host your hardware with us for a total period of at least 120 days. If at any time thereafter the weekly earnings of the miners are insufficient to pay the hosting fees, the group buy owners shall make up the difference in USD. Non-payment of hosting fees/deficit will result in forfeiture of ownership rights to the hosted hardware. Any and all payments are due when invoiced; 30 days late constitutes default and will result in forfeiture of your fractional ownership.

How to Buy

Send BTC0.35 x the number of shares you would like to the common group buy payment address:

1NiNJAGi1k51pfxKsQQQisf3MMwsPU5yCc

Each fractional share represents 1/10th of an ANTMiner S1, approx 18-20GH (w/ overclock). This is close to half off the current price for hosted hashing on Cex.io, and a much better value overall compared to buying USB ANTMiner U1 units.

CRAZY BONUS: We will add an additional 12GH to your order in the March/April timeframe when Batch 1 KNC Neptunes ship.  This means you are getting 30GH/s for only (18GH/s right away, 12GH in a few months) for just .35BTC.  The bonus hashrate cannot be redeemed for hardware, and is good for as long as you maintain your standing as a Group Buy owner, NO additional hosting fees apply

IMPORTANT: You will receive your payout to the FIRST address that is used as an input to this transaction. Make certain that this is an address that you control, and not an exchange or off-blockchain wallet service. You will be required to sign a message using the first input address to verify ownership of your fractional hardware.

FINCEN Compliance: This group buy is hosted in the US and geared toward US persons who would like to take an ownership position of Bitcoin mining hardware. You are buying a fractional ownership of the hardware. If you own a multiple of 10x shares, you may choose to take physical possession of your hardware after a period of 120 days. The group buy coordinator is NOT offering any type of security or financial product, rather we are selling fractional ownership of physical hardware and providing hosting/management services. Out of an abundance of caution, we reserve the right to collect KYC information from our customers. You may be requested to present an ID and recent utility bill to verify your identity. The group buy coordinator is not a money transmitter, and merely facilitates hosting of miners for group buy owners.

By saying they will be delivered "this week" do you mean by friday or by the 14th? I see you said by Sat. sorry
Very interested and watching. Instant hashing power is hard to come by.

Oh, and what happens to the hardware later on?  Do we vote to sell it?

I went down to the data center today to get my badge access and got a great tour including a behind the scenes look at the power and cooling systems.  Dual 10MW Feeds come into the facility from the power plant down the block. There's a parking lot full of air-conditioned UPS battery sheds, generators the size of school busses, and a cooling system that looked like something out of a navy ship. Basically this place is setup to never to down ever under any circumstance no matter what. We have armed guards watching our hardware on security cameras 24/7.  Nobody gets in without a badge, retina scan, and PIN.

I scoped out the cabinet space to determine what type of cabling we will require.  We are going to be running on 208V 3-Phase power for maximum efficiency, so the regular outlet power cords don't plug into the Power Distribution Unit. I picked up the needed cables and came home to find the brown truck fairy had dropped off our power supplies.

Oh, and what happens to the hardware later on?  Do we vote to sell it?

At any point you can sell your fractional hardware to another group buy member.  We are going to try to keep a parity value level amongst our group buy offerings, so that you will be able to trade fractional hardware with other owners from future group buys, including some pre-orders from companies we believe and trust in. If you own a multiple of 10x shares, then you can take delivery and sell the hardware.  You can keep paying the hosting fees and use it as a method to obtain bitcoin.  Any point (after the initial 120 commitment period) you can walk away and relinquish your shares.  We studied the recent Fincen guidance which specially allows for paying bitcoin to hardware owners when preparing this offering.

We need a good strong American alternative to Cex.io, and the Ninjas are ready to build out a massive mine to take bitcoin back from the double-spenders.

CRAZY BONUS: We will add an additional 12GH to your order in the March/April timeframe when Batch 1 KNC Neptunes ship.  This means you are getting 30GH/s for only (18GH/s right away, 12GH in a few months) for just .35BTC.  The bonus hashrate cannot be redeemed for hardware, and is good for as long as you maintain your standing as a Group Buy owner, NO additional hosting fees apply.

And I'm also pleased to announce that we now have Power and our cabinet is LIVE.  Michael connected the circuits hot, he's an electrician at our Datacenter, and also a Ninja Group Buy owner.

How long is this going to run? I'll have enough BTC to invest here in a few weeks. Also is there a possibility of automatic reinvestment?

It will run until it sells out, and then we'll start up group buy #2. You'll need to rebuy shares manually, although you could automate it with a few lines of code interacting with Bitcoind RPC.

Pseudo-code
Code:
balance = bal of addr(dividend addr)
If(balance >= .3502){
TX .35 to Ninja group buy addr)
}

So what happens after 120 days? Will those ANTMINER keep mining? Do we get a share of future buys?
They keep mining after 120 days, and so long as they generate more that they cost to operate you will continue to receive payouts.  You can also choose to pay the operating costs then in USD as a cheap/tax advantaged way to obtain BTC. If they become completely unprofitable (upkeep exceeds cost to buy BTC), we'll vote to liquidate and move to mew hardware/ payout the proceeds. Also we are going to keep our group buys structured to allow mobility (upgrade/trade in, etc) between group buys.

How is electricity factored in? Whats the rate per kwh at the data center?

After the first 30 days, weekly hosting/management charges of USD $49.99 per unit ($4.99 per share) will be assessed to the group buy.  It includes all electricity, power supplies, cabling, cooling, bandwidth, space and management fee. No additional charge applies for the Bonus hashes. Charges will be automatically deduced from your dividends unless you choose to sign up for USD billing.  As we fill up our group buys we actually expect to be able to lower the weekly charges, particularly at the point where we switch from the cabinet to a cage.

Power isn't exactly cheap at around $ .29/kwh, but it includes cooling, rent, bandwidth - and we can scale up quickly and easily.

Was a typo, the keys are next to each other on the keyboard apparently. Never mind proofreading the group buy 16 times before posting, lol. Corrected. It's the 180GH S1 Antminer.

What happens if you don't sell 100 shares before Saturday? Will you keep the unsold ones for yourself? Will they be for sale after you start mining?

Unlike other group buys, where they have to collect everyone's money up front, and then order hardware; we are buying all the hardware up front, and then selling fractional ownership. That means we start mining NO MATTER WHAT on Saturday.  Shares will still be for sale until the group buy sells out, and I will retain the unsold shares until then.

If I'm not mistaken the hardware should become unprofitable not too long after June 30th.
With a difficulty increase of 30% (very conservative, borderline hopeful), a hashing rate of 180GH/s, and monthly cost of $49.99
all calculators seem to be pointing to the same date June as the month in which the ANTMiner S1 Hardware becomes unprofitable.
Generating more or less BTC 0.234242

The Neptune same difficulty 30%, 3000GH/s same monthly expense will be profitable until the end of October.
Generating more or less BTC 0.0490592

To total profit should be BTC 0.2833012

Am I wrong? If I am please please point out the problem.
I don't want to discourage or troll I'm just trying to do my due diligence before investing.

Actually (full disclosure) the operating costs are higher, closer to $200/mo per ANTMiner. The anticipated power and space requirements for a neptune would result in around $500+/mo per unit. Mining calculators that assume a static price of BTC, with sustained exponential growth of hashing are flawed. Also the hardware will continue to have value, and can be liquidated for further return.  We have other options such as underclocking for efficiency, once we cross the space barrier in the datacenter. We'll be moving from a single cabinet to an 8 cabinet cage if we can continue to grow the operation.

Hoarding looks like a better option on paper, but hoarding doesn't grow the bitcoin economy, spending does. This is something you can spend on that will give you a future return of (hopefully more valuable) bitcoin.

My GPU rig that I put together in Feb 2012 unbelievably is still profitable...  Of course your milage may vary, don't invest more than you can afford to lose.

Bad News: Our miner order is stuck with UPS and won't be delivered until Monday.

Good News: Our cabinet is fully setup with power supplies, ethernet cables, everything pristine. We have a solid backup plan.
I'm going to go pick up all the remaining in-stock Antminers from Greaterninja in the morning, which combined with my personal
Antminers gets us to 10. I have miner there now that I am testing; it looks like 375Mhz is the sweet spot.  We'll be up and running
by mid-afternoon.  The miner running now is pointed to the Group Buy account on BTC Guild. I'll throw something together tomorrow night
on a webserver so everyone can see the stats from Guild.

When UPS finally does deliver on Monday we'll have enough miners to kick off Group Buy #2.

We're busy bringing up the mine today, so please be patient with responses to PMs.  I've got 8 of the miners up and running already, we'll pick up 2 more in a few hours and run them to the datacenter.  I also threw together a quick page so everyone can track the stats here.  There are only a few slots left in Group Buy #1!

When are you going to start distributing dividends?

First dividends go out Saturday January 18th. We're ramping up the hashrate quickly; I'm now pointing every miner I have under my control at our pool address.

What pool are we on?

BTC Guild is the primary pool, Eligius is our backup.  We're hashing for every sold share now, and more hashes are on the way (I'm giving all she's got captain!).  It looks like we are going to have to stop at 300 shares, as it's going to take some time to build out our cage.  We'll also be launching colocation for customer owned hardware soon in "2 weeks".  We get the hardware first....snazzy website later.  It's like the polar opposite of some other vendors.

I believe in honest, transparent business.  Our payout address is on the blockchain for all to see 1KQQYPQsJ9KffXPJBf7t3XknDKsvDCZ3cn

We launched this from idea to deployment in 10 days.  Check out the diary http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1v0jo3/from_conception_to_deployment_in_10_days_this_has/

We will be prorating the payout this week for all shares sold from this point forward to keep it fair for those that got in first. We expect to have the cabinet totally packed full by the end of next week, and then no mas till the cage is commissioned.

We oversold a bit on the first 100 shares so we're supplying some temporary hashes to ensure everyone that bought in will get a full payout.

UPDATE: The Mine is up and running and we are extending the Group Buy to 300 shares. I'm buying the final 20 shares personally so  everyone else will get a payout this Saturday.

300 Shares is the HARD limit for our space, NO MAS....The next group buy will occur only once we have space ready for the miners.  We are moving to a large cage ASAP. Rest assured, we're launching a professional miner colocation company and will be doing more group buys in the future. We have 10MW worth of power at our disposal, and cooling that can support high power density.  Any shares sold beyond the 300 shares will be refunded. I'm watching carefully, but it's difficult when some buy 40 at once. If you are wanting to get in on this historic first Ninja group buy, you better act fast.

2 Weeks is about how long its going to take for me to catch up on lost sleep and get all the hardware, space, power, power supplies, shelving & network equipment ready for Group #2.  There's a very powerful supercomputer doing human genome research in the datacenter....we want to make their operation look small.

Yes, they are prorated and they will receive 5/7 of a full share payout on Saturday.

When is the remaining hashpower getting online?
The majority is up now.  It still needs to have the clocks adjusted a bit. We have more hardware on the way still.  I am foregoing payout on my shares for any missing hardware, and providing temporary hashes to make up for the majority of the shortfall. When we say we are doing something, we do it.

Also wondering , we started with 100 shares 18-20ghs each and an upgrade to 30ghs once the Neptune arrives. How will you full fill this 'promise' now almost 300 shares are sold?

Cheers

We'll get 3.6TH out of our Neptune, or deliver the bonus hashrate from our private farm.  With the kind of power we can feed it, 3.6TH shouldn't be too hard ~ assuming it performs the way that is being currently speculated.  Regardless we will deliver everything promised.

Will you be converting the NMC to BTC and distributing that?

Good Job!
The NMC mined will be converted in to BTC, but instead of being distributed it will be held in reserve to cover replacement power supplies, fans, and anything else we might need to keep the operation running.  It will be used only to the benefit of the group buy owners. Once there's enough in reserve we will distribute any excess.

One of the miners has a fan issue, looks like shipping damage on the connector - we jiggled the connector and its working ok, but I'm not quite happy about it.  I'm out on travel tomorrow, but we're keeping an eye on it in case the fan stops again.  We're going to either take it out and solder it, or move the fan to a different connector/direct to the power supply.

We're working on putting together everything needed for Group Buy #2. The datacenter is going to loan us a 2nd cab while they build out our cage area, and it should be ready a week from Thursday.  We'll be the ordering miners to fill it ASAP, and once we feel confident about the delivery/install timeframes we will launch the next group buy.

Any chance getting some new pictures up of the build? Maybe some throughout the process? I know you are busy and all, just thought it would be neat to see it all.

We got permission to take some pictures at the end of the day.  It's a pristine install.

With all the changes - more shares, more hashes - I'm finding it hard to estimate where we are vs expected.

Would it be feasible to show an estimate of "earnings per share" on the stats page?

Worker question. Smiley

#5 has been hashing about 480gh is that a temp until 21,22, & 24 get populated?

Will they be moving into the larger cage or is this their permanent home?

I don't have any experience with Antminers. I'm assuming that they are pretty much a set it and forget it unit?

Thanks for the photo too  Grin

#5 is a guest worker (bitfury) here on a temporary visa, once our missing miners show up he'll go back home.  He's also got a KNC Mercury and a bunch of chili boards assisting on other worker numbers.  We have 24 of 30 installed today, and I have 8 more on order with Bitmain.

Everything will be moved to the cage.  We'll be able to live video monitor our gear, and have intrusion detection at our cage entrance (basically if somebody opens the door I see it, and if they don't belong they get tazered in under 30 seconds).

The Antminers have been very steady and reliable. We just have to catch when moving parts like fans and power supplies go dead.

I've updated the owners list to reflect the final totals, please message me if there are any issues with your shares or address.

Not yet, we're getting a cage about the same size as their's though - and its being put in a new part of the building with nobody around us so we can continue to grow.

Would it be feasible to show an estimate of "earnings per share" on the stats page?

You should be able to calculate it based on the mining stats - 280 shares are currently mining; right now my focus is on getting a payout distribution system in place for this weeks dividends.

We've ordered the cabinet, miners, and power supplies for group buy #2.  We're anticipating a build out date of Thursday January 23rd. Group buy 2 will consist of 30 Antminers + a 2nd batch KNC Neptune.  Hosting for each Antminer is going to cost $149/mo.  The hosting costs for the Neptune are estimated at $599/mo, actual costs will be determined when the power requirements for the Neptune are released.  We can't guarantee the start date of this one, but we promise to get everything up and running as fast as humanly possible.  The thread will be posted tomorrow after we complete the install of Group Buy #1 hardware. When the thread gets posted tomorrow evening, shares will be offered to the public at .35; current group buy owners may buy shares now at .33, using the same payment address as Group #1.

1NiNJAGi1k51pfxKsQQQisf3MMwsPU5yCc

We're expecting to sign for the cage by the end of the week.  We are looking at various build out options (12 12kw cabs, vs 8 20kw cabs). The data center is accommodating our growth and supplying us with a temporary cab for Group Buy #2, while the cage gets built out.  Once complete we will move all the hardware to the cage, a few units at a time to minimize any downtime.

Chinese New Year is going to mess up the supply, and we're already starting to see shortages so I expect these will go fast. We also qualified for private pool access on BTC Guild, so we will be switching everything over to that in the next couple of days.

So the hosting cost dropped a bit with the GB2.  Any chance that might effect GB1s hosting costs?   Roll Eyes

On another note... when do you plan on sleeping next?  Mid March maybe?   Wink

Probably, but I can't quite say for sure yet.  We are ALWAYS looking to lower everyone's costs.

I'm going to take a few days off to go snowboarding up in Colorado where I can get my relax on once we wrap up Group Buy #2.

Very interested but a couple of questions:

1. Hosting fees - is 149.99/Antminer correct? I thought group buy 1 was charging $44.99 per Antminer?

2. How long is the 0.33 offer rate available?  Will it still be available after the public announcement?

Thanks for all your work so far.

Group Buy #1 fees:  $44.99 per week, about $195/mo, but the Neptune is hosted totally free.
Group Buy #2 fees:  $34.63 per week, $149.99/mo; the group buy will be responsible for the Neptune's hosting fees when it arrives.

Once they go up to the public everyone will pay the same price.   We're extending the .33 offer to group buy #1 owners.

Will #2 have this?

First 30 days of hosting included FREE!
    Power supply rental included FREE!

All included like before.  We will very likely be able to lower the group buy one hosting fees after Group Buy #3; although we have to make sure we are covering the rent.

Are the current S1's being over clocked?

They are all set to 375Mhz, a safe mild overclock that is easy on power (allowing us to fit them all in the cab's power allocation).

Congrats on getting all of the miners in.  Grin

Thank you for the little extra hashing too  Grin

Did you get the payment system worked out yet?

Things should start to stabilize, all 30 are in the cab and the temporary workers are heading home.  The last 6 were a #@$%#@$%@# to install. We had to play some tricks to keep each of our 30AMP 208V 3-phase circuits from triggering warnings and alarms (extra power supplies to improve efficiency).  We're all set for our first payout; I'm going to be using the Electrum wallet's import CVS feature to craft the transaction.

We had an impromptu meetup today with one of the guys that run MineCntrl; they have a really cool group buy hashrate monitor they're working on that we're looking at using. Also we've been invited to the BTC Guild private pool server, so we'll have a better pool uptime and be protected against DDOS. I'm slowly moving all the workers over.

Power supplies are getting hard to find.  We loaded up two shopping carts worth at Fry's electronics, paid in Bitcoin with the help of a local group buy member's credit card. Met two different Alt-coin miners while raiding both of the local Fry's for power supplies.  I'm thinking a 50 GPU cabinet would be fun for destroying the latest scam coins.

It looks like Bitmain Antminers are selling for a lot less now, both from BITMAIN and NinjaTech.
Since the GroupBuy #2 miners are not coming online until next Thursday, would it be possible to get some discounts or more hashing per share (for both early buyers and new buyers)?

Thanks,

Remember you are also getting a share of a Neptune, so its not apples to apples.  We are running these group buys at damn near cost, particularly once you add all the power supplies, cabinet setup charges, cross-connect, shelves, patch  cables, and network gear. Add 80 hours of labor on top of it....  And KNC is sold out now Smiley

We're working on lowering the hosting fees for this group buy; we had a very productive meeting with the data center staff today.  If we can get them down on our cage build out we should be able to lower everyone's costs.

Ninja Group Buy #1 Dividend - Week #1
Total Earnings: 8.4BTC https://blockchain.info/address/1KQQYPQsJ9KffXPJBf7t3XknDKsvDCZ3cn
Total Shares: 300 (123 proated 5/7th, 20 prorated zero, effective 280)
Hosting fees: 0
Amount per share:   0.03
Prorated share:   0.021428571428571
Prorate Credit:   0.006715195632393
Tx Fee: .004

Notes: Payouts were prorated for those that bought in after hashing commenced. This resulted in a prorate credit applied to the non-prorated shares.  Next week will be far more simple, an easy divide by 300. 20 of the shares (owned personally by me) weren't deployed until Thursday night; no payout was taken on these shares, and the 1 1/2 days of hashes were distributed to the group.
Ant #13 was having issues, it would slowly decrease in hashing down to 130GH.  I checked the firmware version and it was pretty old, so it got flashed to the latest and greatest firmware.  It's doing much better now, averaging now in the 190's.

Got mine too Thanks Ninja!  Any chance you could reset the Total BTC counter on the miner stats site so we can know how many we are mining per week?

Total BTC counter is fetched using a API so that won't be possible. Perhaps he can add "Total BTC paid" so we can do the math ourselves.

Also if it's too much work, we can ofcourse always lookup the total holdings in the mining wallet.

I'm working on getting us setup with a killer monitoring solution, including all sorts of pretty graphs and stuff.  That stuff is cool and all, but what really matters is the coins hitting our (and your) wallet.

Looks like we are going to have to drop this back to 280 shares; I'm going to go pull 2 out as we are way over on power.  It won't have any affect on shareholders, other than me. Working on a solution to keep it at 300.

We lost a port on our VPN appliance; we've been up all night fighting with those 6; and the install for group #2 is also underway (we're staged for install tonite).

I know it's only pocket change but out of transparency I did want to ask.

I noticed a payment of BTC0.20 going out of our mining wallet

https://blockchain.info/nl/tx/cc1ef57e689bafb176505a678f5d90ac51039c3c1f388f336791bb50ce3e8a1a

Div payouts were made totalling BTC8.4 which also can be seen on the mining stats page. So I'm curious what that BTC0.20 payment was for.

I forgot to freeze it after making the payout Saturday morning.  I bought a coke at our satoshi square event; I noticed right away that it came from our payout address so I sent the coins back to it immediately 9d85f476e4575ce2d10053a69232967e302b79914544dc4de82e37e1adf90f20.

We've worked an arrangement with the data center so we can keep them all at 300.  We have some extra circuits going in soon to help with our high amp situation, and give us some headroom for the KNC Neptunes when they arrive.

That would be sweet especially if you can get a good price on them.  I've seen Scrypt GBs before and they are always so expensive for the hash rate you get on them.  Of course that because it costs a lot more to set up a Scrpt rig.

I know its early days but considering the majority of this GB consists of members buying under 10 shares have we thought about options after the 120 days has elapsed in terms of the hardware?

What about grouping together members so 3-4 take "ownership" of an S1 and can then sell it (assuming difficulty etc has skyrocketed) and then distribute among the smaller group - not saying this is the answer but curious what everyone else thinks

I'll be curious to learn of your progress on that - I'm thinking that you may run into some serious cooling issues cramming that many GPU's into a 4u case running at 100%.  Also, possible power issues?  Each 290X pulls around 300watts (give or take) on full steam, so you could be over 2kw with just the gpus, not counting mobo, hard drive (if used), cpu.

It will all be well documented, we may end up in 2 cases if that's what it takes.  I have enough GPU experience that I know I can get *something* working, so we are starting with a prototype before committing to doing 40+ GPU cabs.  Group #4 will own the prototype rig.

Sounds good!  There is no doubts in my mind that you can get it working!  I am just very interested in if you can get it to work in a hosted datacenter environment with the space (to manage the heat), and power requirements (perhaps with the upcoming cage and access to lot's of power, I'm in the wrong).  And, if so, I'm in for shares!  I've been impressed with the speed of your build outs before!

How much do you pay per kw/h? And where do you plan to mine, on Middlecoin (http://www.middlecoin.com/, so they switch between coins and sell them for you)?

We anticipate running this equipment for a long time to come yet.  If you take a look at how the competition stacks up, we are still in the running power wise.  Cointerra totally missed the mark. Remember all of the Gen 1 Asicminer, Gen 1 & 2 Avalon, Gen 1 BFL, all would need to be turned off before the Antminers. I've kept a mountain of shipping materials to help facilitate selling off the miners when the time comes to upgrade.  Generally speaking, we would expect members to upgrade/trade-in toward newer equipment as the difficulty increases.

OUCH!!!  That hurts to look at.  I hope it's just some really bad luck on BTCguild cause that's a huge drop.  We do desperately need that Neptune!

Edit:

Ya... really bad luck...

Approximate Pool Luck* (24H / 3D / 1W / 2W / 1M): 63.068% / 87.287% / 100.327% / 102.589% / 102.465%

Looks like we got ourselves a really good deal witn KnC Smiley

Taken from their email (now probably already on their website ):

Quote
Plan B

As you are all aware we broke many world records in releasing the 28nm chip in such a short amount of time. We are a very ambitious company but even for us, to go “all in” and not be able to deliver on our performance targets, like our competition, would be completely unacceptable to us as a company and everything we stand for. So today we are introducing, Plan B.

To make sure that everyone who has paid for their Neptune we are building a data centre like no other. It is located in the north of Sweden not far from Facebook and other Mega Data Centres and it’s totally powered by renewable energy.

Over the next few months we are bringing online enough hashing power to make sure that any delay in the Neptune timeline will be compensated with a completely free hosted hashing packages to all fully paid customers.

In the addition to this commitment, as part of Plan B, for all Neptune customers, we will be offering a free conversion to a hosted hashing package where we will simply fill your wallets directly and you won’t have to worry about anything else. All the other costs taken care of by us. We are able to do this by using our 28nm chips which is why all products that we have coming out of our factory in the next few months will go into building and supplying the Plan B facility.

If, during the course of development of Neptune, there is any threat to the timelines for delivery, those delays will not result in the loss of any mining time for our Neptune customers. We will release more details of this as we get closer to the delivery date, but for now we have one of the world’s largest data centres to build.

Interesting. What is our delivery date for the Neptune?

As an aside it does seem slightly incongruous to have a cloud mining pool, outsourcing to another cloud mining pool ... Wink

Looks like a good deal to me; KNC are totally legit. Group #1 has one of the first Neptune orders; while group 2-3 have some of the last units sold.  I wish we had bought more of them ~ they were sold out before I could get an order in for Group #4.

I just made the mistake of actually re-reading the offer, and this caught my eye:

"You agree as a group buy owner to host your hardware with us for a total period of at least 120 days. If at any time thereafter the weekly earnings of the miners are insufficient to pay the hosting fees, the group buy owners shall make up the difference in USD. Non-payment of hosting fees/deficit will result in forfeiture of ownership rights to the hosted hardware. Any and all payments are due when invoiced; 30 days late constitutes default and will result in forfeiture of your fractional ownership."

Unless my barrack room lawyer skills are slipping MWNinja, you have effectively created an open ended clause that guarentees that come the inevtiable day when difficulty is so high that the miners do not even cover the hosting fee's, we have to make up the difference in dollars INDEFINATELY or let the ownership revert to you.

Not sure about your laws in US, but in UK that clause would almost certainly be rendered invalid by any court under 'unfair terms and conditions'. I suggest you propose to the group a more moderate/fair clause which specifies the viability conditions under which miners would be de-hosted and optionally returned to owners or sold with cash distributed to owners like other GB's.

Thanks, I was aware of that, but as most member of group buys only own fractions of a server, it doesn't really help them does it?

The terms are pretty standard for colocation services, and are a flow down of the security clause in our contract with the data center. Basically if we don't pay the bills they seize our equipment. Storage facilities also work on the same terms.  Once the equipment is obsolete and can't pay it's own bills, it won't have much value anyhow.

Nah...That's when we sell it on ebay... someone will buy it.  People are still spending 200-300 for Jallys and 30 for block erupters.

Hi, I can understand trying to back to back the terms, and thats not unreasonable, however, it's the open ended bit thats problematic. At the moment it reads that hosting WILL continue indefinately EVEN WHEN the miners don't cover the hosting fees. Having a clause to invoke de-hosting in that event would seem sane, otherwise you get a scenario of (say) billing everyone first month a shortfall happens and a certain percentage don't pay, and then rolling right into another month of non-profitable mining with a subsequent additional hosting invoices get sent out which (apart from whole machine owners) I would imagine would largely go unpaid.

See what I mean? You need a clear and concise statement on how/when mining and hosting ends, and what happens to residual kit value for fractional owners that have not taken up the option  of having a machine delivered.

A suggestion for the stats page - show the total amount paid out (i.e. The sum of the weekly distributions) immediately underneath the "Total BTC earned" figure. It would make tracking the current week's earnings much easier.

Could even net off the two and show the result as "Current week:"

The terms in the offering are very clear and concise, and are what is binding ~ we are upfront about this possible worst case. We are looking at options to provide liquidity, such as ownership transfer, buyback, trade-in, paid & free upgrades using our namecoin revenue, and more. Currently owners get preferred pricing on future group buys as an additional benefit.

OK Gang. Presented for your amusement, an IPython notebook I wrote to calculate some quantities of interest to me (weekly earnings, percent of investment returned to date, etc.) from my participation in Group Buys 1, 2, and 3.  I hope it helps you, but you are on your own!

It appears that this forum software does not support attachments to posts. Please find the notebook at https://bitbucket.org/FrankToil/coinscraper/raw/77afbaac648eecc1c394c6c4e4306d455ef8a1b4/CoinScraper.ipynb ...

Documentation (copied verbatim from the notebook):
This IPython notebook accounts for the BTC mining revenue from the MWNinja Group Buys by screen-scraping the website(s) and then performing auxiliary calculations.
THIS CODE IS RELEASED INTO THE PUBLIC DOMAIN.

That means that you are free to use it (or ignore it) in any way you see fit, I bear no responsibility whatsoever for it, and if it breaks, you get to keep the pieces.

It is not exactly user friendly, (in other words, it is a total hack, in the "works for me as a programmer" category) but it does get the job done.

To use it, first you need to make sure that you have a Python environment (tested on 2.7) with IPython http://ipython.org/ to run the notebook in. Place this notebook in its own directory, invoke IPython like so "ipython notebook" and a tab should pop up in your browser saying IPython Dashboard. In that tab should be a single link called "CoinScraper". Click on it, and the notbebook itself will pop up in another tab with this documentation in the first "cell".

To actually run the code, you also need three libraries installed: BeautifulSoup4 http://www.crummy.com/software/BeautifulSoup/ (tested on whatever "pip install" pulled about a week back...); requests http://docs.python-requests.org/en/latest/ (ditto for "pip install"); and numpy http://www.numpy.org/.

You will need to modify several things in the next cell (Use The Source, Luke!) to account for how many shares you bought, what price you paid, which groups you participated in, etc.

Once all of that has been setup properly for your specific situation, you run the next cell to initialize the code, then run the following cells in order to scrape the info from MWNinja's websites. (To run a cell, you type "Shift Return" which is an IPython-ism.) You must make sure that the URLS in the scraping cells match the appropriate group buys.

The last executable cell performs the calculations of interest to me personally. (Those calculations do not account for the cases where some shares were pro-rated, like in GB#1, and GB#2. But for my purposes they are "good enough".) Feel free to modify to suit your own requirements!

OK, I'm waiting to see the exact conversion rate MWNinja used to charge for hosting, and then I'll modify the code to reflect/project that cost for the next week's revenue.

I know that Ninja had an extremely busy day yesterday (moving GB#1 equipment to the new cage, etc.) so this will happen when it happens...

Because of hosting payments for the next month.

@mwninja, on the webpage, could you add the links in the header to the stats of all your other groupbuys. I'm sure quite some ppl own shares in multiple of your groupbuys and now I have to go to my favorites and choose the other GB. But if it's in the header it will make my life easier ;-)

Second thing, could you also add a link to our mining wallet, this way everybody could easily have a look how much currently is beging held in our dividend wallet.

Cheers

Is there any news on the delivery dates for the Neptunes for the various group buys?

I haven't done the sums yet but at the current rates (increasing difficulty combined with a falling BTC value) GB1 looks like it will become uneconomical quite soon, and presumably the others will follow.

I have 3 shares I'm willing to sell.  Looking for .25 each.  Shoot me a pm if interested.
We're working on a process to enable trading; it really needs a trusted 3rd party escrow to be done right.
Would you be willing to act as escrow?  Should be pretty simple.  2 parties agree on a price at which time both parties contact you with said price and the new payout address of the shares being sold/bought.  Buyer sends you btc.  Confirmations that you got the btc sent to both partes. You release btc to seller.  I think at this point you are trusted by everyone who bought into your GB.

For a small fee of course.  Can't have your working for nothing  right    Wink

Really the btc wouldn't even have to pass through your wallet.  As long as you were made aware before and after with the sending and receiving wallet addys the blockchain could provide proof of the transaction if there was a dispute.

We will be charging a small fee for doing the transfer, currently set at .003 btc. We can't legally offer escrow services; but to protect the buyer some sort of escrow is really needed. We could do it with multisig addresses, but unfortunately that's not exactly user friendly.  Any ideas?

If it helps I would be willing to do escrow if people would be willing to trust me.

I think most people on here are familiar with sigs in the GB section but just gonna throw it out there I'm willing to do it.

Don't think a physical escrow is needed.

Seller sends a message to MWninja with info about the sales, amount of shares to be sold, price in btc and btc wallet to which dividends are sent. Seller sents a cc to the buyer.
Buyer sents funds to the appropriate wallet and replies to Seller and MWninja with tx id. Seller will confirm receiving of the funds and sent a reply to MWninja to alter the ownership details. MWninja will edit shareholder files and update it with the dividend address of the buyer.

In case the buyer doesn't pay, than the agreement is void and shares remain in posession of the seller.
In case the buyer does pay but the seller won't confirm the receiving of the funds, MWninja can check the blockchain and change the ownership details accordingly.

With the above MWninja doesn't need to act as an escrow, he only acts as a administrator of the shares ownership.

Ofcourse MWninja can ask a fee for ownership changes in order to prevent an outrageous amount of ownership transfers. Personally I don't think there will be alot of trades.

Cheers all

PS: if anyone is interested, I have 5 shares for sale in GB #1 and 5 shares in GB #3. PM me with your offer.

Is there any news on the delivery dates for the Neptunes for the various group buys?

I haven't done the sums yet but at the current rates (increasing difficulty combined with a falling BTC value) GB1 looks like it will become uneconomical quite soon, and presumably the others will follow.

OK, I have done some sums and estimates of future earnings and they don't look pretty.

Using the following assumptions:

1. hashrate remains constant (that is to say I am considering the AntMiners only and ignoring the effect of the Neptune when it comes online)
2. current downtrend of earnings continues - the three week average gives week N+1 earnings = 90.1848% of week N earnings
3. current BTC $ value remains constant (ha ha!); I used a Coindesk value of $573.00, earlier today, 26 Feb

My projection is:

A. we have 9 more weeks of profitable mining until AntMiner hosting costs exceed weekly return
B. aggregate return over those 9 weeks = BTC 0.05184544 / share Sad

We really need to see the Neptune come into the picture - do we have any information on when it or its hashes are due?

Happy to share the full calculations if people are interested.

Please give us some insight in your calculations. A revenue of only 0.05184544btc per share is really not much and would mean that this GB would have be getting only 300 x 0.05184544 = 15.55 NET earnings in the comming 9 weeks.

Total weekly hosting cost for this GB is 4.49 x 300 = $1347 with btc@573 that means 2.35btc of hosting costs per week. Which is ofcourse huge. Making the expected gross revenue of 9x 2.35 = 21.15 + 15.55 = 36.7btc

So in your calculations you expect this GB to mine about 36.7btc the comming 9 weeks?

IF KNC is delivering their first batch of Neptunes as promised (before 31st of March) than we should receive this unit around the time these ANTs are getting obsolete.

Personally I did not look into the hosting costs that much before and thought these were $4,49 a share per month instead of per week! Probably thought this because it said, first month of hosting free, afterwards 4,49 a/share (per week). Must say that the hosting cost for just 1 ANT is quite huge @194.56 USD a month.

You are basically spot on.

Hosting costs are fixed at $1,347 per week
With a BTC price of $573 that equals 2.35078534 BTC per week

Looking over the last few weeks earnings
Week 3 was 9.000 BTC
Week 4 was 8.200 BTC (91.11% of week 3)
Week 5 was 7.44682813 BTC (90.81498% of week 4)
Week 6 was 6.600 BTC (88.62834% of week 5)

Averaged out that gives the 90.1848% week to week figure.

I ignored weeks 1, 2 and 3 as they were odd (week 1 was low due to the time to get everything up and running; week 3 unusually low and would skew the numbers even lower).

If you apply the 90.1848% as a forward projection you get:

Week 7 (forecast)   5.9521968
Week 8 (forecast)   5.36797678
Week 9 (forecast)   4.841099123
Week 10 (forecast)   4.365935562
Week 11 (forecast)   3.937410254
Week 12 (forecast)   3.550945563
Week 13 (forecast)   3.202413154
Week 14 (forecast)   2.888089898
Week 15 (forecast)   2.604618099
Week 16 (forecast)   2.348969623

As you will note Week 16 is when we drop below the forecast hosting cost of 2.3507.  So I ignore that week on the basis that I hope we won't run at a loss and adding up weeks 7 to 15 gives total earnings of 36.71068523

Less the hosting fees - 9 x 2.35078534 = 21.15706806

Thus net earnings of 15.55361717 or 0.051845391 per share.

Remember on this one there are no additional hosting fees for the Neptune, so we should be in good shape when that is delivered.  Also you can add a share of Group Buy #5 (NO HOSTING FEES) and get an additional 300khash scrypt added into your equation.

And don't forget you are also welcome to pay your hosting fees using USD, so that you can continue to receive the maximum amount of BTC available. We are handing those payments manually at the moment, but it will soon be automated as well.

Also remember that the price of BTC is a huge factor here ~ a big increase and the hosting costs become rather negligible. Once this Gox mess is behind us, I expect to get back to a growth phase.

Of course you can also trade off your shares....since we don't currently have any public group buys, there is demand from newbs that want to participate in Group Buy #5.

But WHEN is the Neptune going to be delivered?  Without knowing that I can't really see anyone being keen to buy shares.  I was interested at first until I did the sums.

I agree that the position will be much improved when the Neptune comes online but it won't change the fact that the AntMiners will become uneconomical at some point - do we really want to use the Neptune to underwrite the loss making AntMiners?

Regarding paying in USD, with a low BTC value that would be attractive but sadly only for US residents I suspect.

Absolutely I agree that the low BTc value is a major issue, but I fear it will take a long while to recover from the Gox and other bad news.

Fair enough - "I don't know, we haven't received a delivery date yet" would be a perfectly acceptable answer.

But the OP did talk about "March/April" timeframe and there were later posts about the cloud-hashing facility KnC were proposing, in case of "delays" to their timeline - any developments on that?

Nobody knows exactly when they will be delivered, KNC has been very tight-lipped. We're getting one of the very first units for Group Buy #1, so it should be quite lucrative when it does indeed arrive.

I'd like there to be a record in the blockchain, so I am thinking we will have the seller craft a multiple destination transaction that has the following (from their share payout address of course):

A) Pays the transfer fee to my address.
B) Sends X satoshi to the buyer's address (where X represents the number of shares to be transferred to the buyer).

This way we will have a clear record of the transfer and have evidence of when the transfer occurred, additionally we won't have to bother with verifying signed messages; we can just change the payout address based on the data.
The buyer should send me a PM with his txid to the seller so we can identify the new owner.

This does require the seller to be trustworthy; so far everyone in the cooperative has been very much so; but there is a risk.

Ninja,

When you say multiplies of 10 shares per S1 can it be in different groups or only in one. For example 2 in GB1, 3 in GB2, and 5 in GB3. Does that make one miner?

2 +3 +5 = 10 The math works for me, so sure. I have enough personal shares to help re-balance the Groups so we don't end up with an odd number of shares outstanding.

So lets say  sell my 3 shares.

I send you the transfer fee and I send the buyer 3 sat and send you the tx id of that transaction. He then sends me the btc for the purchase price.  Correct?

Errr, MWNinja? There appears to be a bug in your group-buy stats pages or their links or something (e.g. http://coinninja.com/GroupBuy/minerstats.php etc.) where everything is being redirected to the overview page (that used to be only available at http://coinninja.com/GroupBuy).

Hey Ninja,

Since by now you are an S1 super pro ninja expert I was hoping for some advice.  I have 2 S1s en route and was wondering if you have any tips for me.  I'm going to be putting them in the basement where it's about 65 degrees (for now anyway).  I was planning on strapping an extra fan on each of them to make a real wind tunnul out of them and I was going to connect them with wifi.  Any thoughts on OCing them or just any other tips/tricks you have picked up along the way?

Set the clocks up a bit and set them and forget them, cooling shouldn't be an issue with just 2.  The wifi will be the biggest problem, you'll need a wifi extender as it's not recommended to use the built in wifi on the controller.

Something like this?
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=A5183482&ST=pla&dgc=ST&cid=262077&lid=4742363&acd=1230980731501410

Actually I could that set up as a bridge and run it into a switch/hub... I think.

What would you set the clocks at?

I see what you were saying about the wifi.  They don't have an antenna just the piece to screw an antenna onto... weak move bitmain

Do you have cable tv in your basement or a line that runs through your basement that you can splice into?  Use these.

The latency of moca vs ethernet is negligible unlike wifi.  Else, you'll need a bridge.  And depending on where your wireless router is located, you may need a repeater.

Overclocking is easy.  Here's a quick guide.
1. Download this http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/putty_portable
2. Use it to SSH into your antminer and login root root.
3. Copy and paste these lines:
cp /etc/config/asic-freq /etc/config/asic-freqOC        [hit enter] Make the overclock file
mv /etc/config/asic-freq  /etc/config/asic-freqORIG    [hit enter] Backup the original
ln -fs /etc/config/asic-freqOC /etc/config/asic-freq    [hit enter] link in the oc file
ls -lrt                                                                 [hit enter] verify that the link was created.  You should see asic-freq -> asic-freqOC
vim /etc/config/asic-freq                                       [hit enter] edit the oc file
4. While in vim, use the arrow keys and navigate to the 3 lines for 400M.  Delete the # at the front of each line using the delete key.
5. Type the letter i.  You are now in insert mode.  Use the arrow keys to navigate to the 3 lines for 350M. Add # at the front of each line.
6. Hit the esc button.  You are now out of insert mode.
7. Type
:
You'll see an :  at the bottom.  Type
:wq          [hit enter] this is write and quit.
8. Now verify your changes.
cat  /etc/config/asic-freq   [hit enter] 400M should be uncommented and 350M commented out.
9. Type
reboot  [hit enter]

After it reboots, login and verify the status.

If your ant doesn't overclock well or you just want to change back to stock, SSH in, copy and paste:
ln -fs /etc/config/asic-freqORIG /etc/config/asic-freq    [hit enter] links in the Original config file
ls -lrt                                                                    [hit enter] verify that the link changed.  You should see asic-freq -> asic-freqORIG
reboot   [hit enter]

Verify the status.

My plan is to get a wifi extender which can act as a bridge and run that ethernet to a switch to the miners and hope that works.  Thanks for the info on OC.  I'm gonna let them run down there for a bit before I OC them to see how they do.

I tell you what, till I get the extender I have them in my office and they keep it toasty in here.

They are running at about 48 degrees.  What do you consider a comfortable temp when overclocked before you would start to worry?

Hello Fellow Owners.

You might have seen my IPython notebook revenue estimator that I posted here a few weeks back. I've now turned that into a standalone website that enables you to estimate your current returns from participating in the group buys.

Have a look at: http://coininaflaskopenshift-franktoil.rhcloud.com/

What kind of temps can these handle?  They are on default clock right now and running about 45.  Just wondering how far I should push them.

We converted our order to the Jupiter option and should be taking delivery shortly after easter. If we can make it through the next couple of weeks then all of the early group buys will achieve ROI.

When it does come what does that do to hosting costs?

MWNinja any news on the Jupiter shipping?

We would like to inform you that you have made it in to the queue of 400 Jupiter 3TH miners. Production is currently ongoing and we expect to begin shipping the miners out from Tuesday 22nd April. All miners are expected to be shipped out before the end of that week.

We would also like to remind you that each Jupiter 3TH miner will require either 3 x 1200W power supplies or 6 x 650W power supplies with 80+ certification and a total of 18 PCI-E power cables.

Regards

KnC Miner Team.

Given that their arrival is now imminent, we will allow this group buy to briefly run in the red (for the next week or so). Any deficit will be made up by the Neptune/Franken-Jupiter.

That's a nice gesture and will save alot of administration.

Although please do communicate how much is owed so there will be full transperancy.

We must be close to shelf life for the Antminers in terms of BTC produced vs Hosting Costs.

We will probably be better off with the Jupiter and no hosting fee's and selling off the Antminers soon.

Do you have any plans for such a move?

We are working on a winding up strategy that will provide a good return to all those involved in the project. The neptune in this group buy is tied to the  weekly hosting fees.  It's going to cost a ton to run as its a power hungry beast.  Even with the neptune we recognize that it will only keep us afloat for so much longer.

1. We'll buy-back shares of Group #1 today at .065 btc for those that don't want any further risk exposure. This valuation is subject to change, PM me for a current offer.

2. You can take delivery also by paying the $99 and providing a shipping label (multiples of 10 shares).

3. You can wait for the Franken-Jups and hope for more returns.

4. You can pay the hosting frees in USD, the people that do this are well taken care of in all cases.

5. You can convert your shares into a counterparty.co security which represents a % of the profits of Ninja Colocation, Inc. Basically the Ninja Mining Cooperative would provide the hardware to Ninja Colocation, Inc, in a contract for a percentage of the net BTC profits of the company. This is NOT an offer of equity, as these shares do not have voting rights. This is still under development.

I believe the shipment will contain all of the Franken-Jups.  We'll be working our asses off to get these up and running from the staging area, and hopefully moved to the datacenter in about a week.

Well Bad News and Worse News.

They delivered only the Group #1 FrankenJup.  Nearly every board is broken as they didn't secure the heatsinks properly for shipping.  We have opened a ticket with their support folks...

Thanks for doing what you can to keep this going.  Having to repair this hardware is definitely beyond the scope of the group buy, but I'm glad you did it.  Hopefully they'll ship out a full replacement soon.

I spoke too soon, we are down to 1TH.  We have a bad board (not sure which one of 6) that is frying controller cards (cooking the FPGA on it). I hope KNC will make things right quickly.

Unfortunately, this group can't continue to run unprofitably. The frankenjup came in broken - too little too late.

We are winding-up this group buy, as well as group buy #2, #3, and #4.

Process for taking delivery (if you have multiples of 10 shares):
PM me for an invoice for the $99 fee, and will reply with an email address for you to send the shipping labels to. You need to provide your own shipping labels.  I'll post the exact dimensions and weight in an update tomorrow.

If you pre-paid hosting, we will return your unused hosting payment at the bitstamp rate. Give us a couple of days to let the dust settle and we'll get it out.

If you have less than 10 shares or if you don't contact me for shipping arrangements; we are buying back the shares at .035 each. We will complete the buyback on May 1st for Group Buy #1 -Group Buy #4 so please get in touch before then.

KNC are sending out new Frankenjupiters and we keep the old ones, it should make it sustainable for longer.

Majority of owners do not own multiples of 10 shares. When it's time for the GB to end the hardware that is not delivered to owners needs to be sold and shares divided between remaining owners

The buyback is effectively the liquidation of the hardware.  The amount per share is based on the current market value of what we have.

Ok but that liquidation figure must not include the KNC hardware?

You are offering 0.035 per share so 10 shares = 1 Antminer S1.

You would be paying us 0.35 for an Antminer S1 which is around $150 USD. Realistically it could probably be sold for $250 - $300 USD per unit on places like Ebay.

Lets ignore that and call it even. Shares in the KNC should either be additional to the buy out or you should host the units and allow members who choose to liquidate to still get there payout share as that component has not been used in your liquidation figures

By the time we add the Paypal fees, chargebacks, packaging and labor we would get even less plus the market will continue to drop before they all sell...  The buyback is a more than fair offer, particularly as most shares would have been just relinquished for non payment of hosting.  We are dealing with a legal nightmare and shielding the group from any more liability. We have retrieved the hardware from the datacenter to prevent any further harm to the group from the datacenter's breach of contract. I haven't deducted a penny for legal expenses, which are now into the $3k range and going up.

If you want to keep your Neptune/FrankenJup position on Group #2 - Group #3, then redeem for hardware as that doesn't cause us to incur additional costs/labor.

The buyback is effectively the liquidation of the hardware.  The amount per share is based on the current market value of what we have.

For group one it was structured as a bonus for hosting customers only; we will run it to try to recoup some legal fees for the upcoming court battle with data center.  The members that redeem Group #2 and Group #3 for hardware (fulfilling their obligation) will get their share of the KNC hardware (once it arrives).  If you don't have enough shares to redeem you can always "buy up" at the buyback price, effectively helping us out with the buyback.

Antminers dropped in price again today, so I apologize for the rush....but the matter is urgent to preserve value.

Makes me sad to see this group go down like this   Embarrassed

Wouldn't it be possible to take the antminers out and move another GB in? Since you've got quite a lot already, so the next one will move into the datacenter instead of these ants.

On the other hand, I have 4 shares in 2 and 3, I'd like to be able to profit a bit from the KNC's once they arrive. Plus I don't think selling them off this fast is a wise decision right now. This way it's a sure loss.

He's pulled the antminers there's no options other than sell off or pay MORE money and get an antminer delivered.

I still think those who sell off should get KnC profits no matter how minimal as we payed for it its not like it was free. We are effectively only getting money back from the antminers as the KnC is used to fund "legal" fees (so much for due diligence)

The datacenter royally fucked us, someday I will be able to tell the whole story. They fired my partner that worked there, who has a wife and 3 kids.  They held our hardware hostage and only through using a lawyer were we able to get access to it.  We now have a shitload of hardware sitting here and are trying to wind things up as cleanly as possible. We need to do it fast obviously as sitting hardware makes no bitcoin.  I know a few people are butthurt but we are trying to be as fair as possible and protect everyone's interests.

As I'm not part of this GB but am part of 2, 3 and 5, is it an idea to move this discussion to the general discussion thread? And is there an opportunity to continue running them elsewhere? As there are more datacenters than these fuckers I assume?

I've thought about this long and hard and we are going to do something special for the members of group buy #1 once this is all settled.

We will run the FrankenJup benefitting everyone that participated regardless of whether you took delivery or a buy back.

Good news, we've found a new home for hosting miners and we've been installing stuff around the clock.

We're waiting on KNC to RMA a ton of broken boards and we've blown three power ($250) supplies due to various defective ASIC modules. We have to recover from this frankenJupiter nightmare and get enough hashes operational out of the broken mess of stuff we keep getting from KNC. I've literally spent every night at the data center trying to get these damn things to work, replacing ASIC boards, swapping cables and controllers. The problem is we pay for the space that is reserved for stuff out for RMA, so the already narrow margin gets eaten up. KNC is driving me crazy.

Anyhow we are going to start the bonus group buy this week, once UPS delivers the next replacement round. More artic silver...more zip ties to hold down the stupid heatsinks for which no mounting materials were included.

To avoid another group buy meltdown we are making changes on the structure going forward, hosting must be prepaid.

We will need to you confirm your participation in the bonus group buy, and prepay the hosting fees for the term for which you want to participate.  There is no cost to participate in the bonus group buy (other than hosting fees), and you get one share for each share you had in group buy one, plus 10 shares for any redeemed miners shipped to you from groups #2 - #4.  The hosting cost is set at $250/TH mo. By confirming your participating, you agree to lease the hashes for the number of months for which you prepay. At the end of the lease there is no further obligation or commitment on your our our behalf, and we retain the hardware. We guarantee to supply the hashes and/or replace the hardware to supply the hashes throughout the term of your lease.

Each share will represent 30GH worth of hashrate.  These will be initially mining on Ghash.io, with autopayout based on ownership percentages. When our cloud service is ready, these will be converted to hashes provided there, and you all will be the first beta users.

Hello,

I want to confirm my participation in the bonus group buy.
Can we prepay for each month instead of for the whole term?  Not sure how long I would be interested in staying with many variables changing overtime.

Thanks,

MWNinja,
Will GB#6 see a reduction in fees with the hosting move?
Thank you.

Group #6 is already enjoying the reduced fees for the new location and has from the beginning.

Thanks,

One payment for the full length of time you want to run for; when your term is up its finished (no option to renew or continue). I would recommend buying 4 months based on my (possibly flawed, but educated) projections. We're busily building away on our cloud interface using ruby on rails ~ once that is ready it will be our primary focus going forward.  I'm sure many of you guys will be participating there ~ we're transitioning into that business model for this bonus group buy and ya'll will get to be beta testers.

Depending on the number of participants there may be left over shares available as well, those will be prices at the buyback rate of .035 to keep everything fair. Perhaps a new thread is in order?

Works out to around $8.50 a month per share.

So for four months (30GH) 1 shares the total payment would be:
1 * 8.50 * 4 = $34

Please use the new thread and coinbase checkout to complete your registration.

Hey Ninja,
Once more into the breech:

FrankToil;
11 shares in GB#1;
Prepay Duration: 3 months;
Price (USD): (11shares)*(30GH/share)*(250USD/1000GH-month)*(3 month) = USD247.5
Price(BTC): (247.5 USD) * (1 BTC/575.66USD) = 0.42994128 BTC (Bitstamp price at 11:05 EDT 25 May 2014)

You get one bonus group buy share free for your group buy 1 share, just pay the hosting on it.  You can buy up to 4 more shares of the bonus group buy for .035 per share (return the buyback).  If you were to max out for 4 months it would look like:

.035x4 + $8.50 * 5 * 4 months  (using today's prices) =  ~.4btc  (150GH for 4 months, no additional fees).
