I had moon transfers taking hours on cryptsy...
One of the reasons I don't like it much.

Plenty of people seem to have no problems with that though obviously, so I'm still quite excited about this!

I keep getting no block source available when syncing the wallet for the first time. Please help! I added a vertcoin.conf with all the coins restarted a bunch of times and still nothing.

Who owns the 1.5 million coins? My guess is that there were a couple of miners who pulled out thousands of coins in the beginning, just like every other coin. Top 100 richest ~50%

I really don't have a clue, but looking at page 23, 4 days after launch, I find:

"Selling 2800vtc. 0.45 btc. Pm me. Faster."

followed by:

"WTS 2000 VTC @ 0.4 BTC"

"WTS 5k VRT
pm me with the offers."

Say what you want to say, but that really turns me off. Although, this coin does seem like a step in the right direction.

It was going for less than that a week ago.  They were not kidding when they said the world of crypto is extremely volatile!

So has anyone managed to mine Vertcoins? Still can't get it to work. It's so frustrating.

Yeah, it's working quite well actually. What's wrong?
I don't know. That's the problem. I was trying to set it up last night and eventually gave up because it wasn't mining. I use CGminer with CGwatcher so I downloaded the modded CGminer in the OP and just replaced all the original files with all the zip files in my E:\Cgminer folder. Modded the configuration file as well with the appropriate changes (proper pool and lower thread concurrency) which are not seen below. Started CGminer it just didn't work.

Code:
{
"pools" : [
{
"name" : "Dogecoin - Suchcoins",
"url" : "stratum+tcp://us.suchcoins.com:3333",
"user" : "xxx",
"pass" : "xxx",
"pool-priority" : "1"
},
{
"name" : "Foxcoin - Luckyminers",
"url" : "stratum+tcp://stratum-eu.fox.luckyminers.com:3333",
"user" : "xxx",
"pass" : "xxx",
"pool-priority" : "0"
}
],

"scrypt" : true,
"gpu-threads" : "1",
"intensity" : "16",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"thread-concurrency" : "24000"
}

Hey geokilla,

Try to find the right settings for your gpu in this thread : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=416572.0

No go. Modded CGminer folder with no original files by itself. Here's the configuration file:

Code:
{
"pools" : [
    {
        "name" : "Vertcoin",
        "url" : "stratum+tcp://s.ny.vertco.in:3333",
        "user" : "xxx",
        "pass" : "xxx",
        "pool-priority" : "1"
    }
],

"scrypt" : true,
"gpu-threads" : "1",
"intensity" : "16",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"thread-concurrency" : "19712"
}

Have finally bitten the bullet, joined twitter and started 'tweeting' lol! have 'followed' you moonbat

Welcome to Twitter Max!

For Twitter newbies if you want to follow me on Twitter I'm @Moonbat4 and Maxvolts is @maxvolts (check out https://support.twitter.com/articles/215585-getting-started-with-twitter for the basics if you are a Twitter newbie) I will follow you back and retweet all your Vertcoin related tweets.

I'm using hashtags #VTC and #Vertcoin for all my tweets and  am trying to link back to the original post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=404364.msg4377061#msg4377061 where space allows in my tweets (only 140 characters allowed!). You can use a site like Bitly.com to shorten a URL so it takes up less characters. Just paste the long link into the Bitly shorten box and you get a compressed link back for example http://[Suspicious link removed]/1bkomYO which when you click on it takes you to the original website link.

Including the #Vertcoin and #VTC tags in your tweets and retweets builds up a pattern of interest in the Vertcoin and VTC topics. If we get enough volume we will hopefully see Vertcoin "trending" and the mainstream media will then have no option but to pay attention!

(From Twitter https://support.twitter.com/articles/49309-using-hashtags-on-twitter "hashtags allow categorisation of Tweets by keyword - people use the hashtag symbol # before a relevant keyword or phrase (no spaces) in their Tweet to categorize those Tweets and help them show more easily in Twitter Search. Clicking on a hashtagged word in any message shows you all other Tweets marked with that keyword. Hashtags can occur anywhere in the Tweet – at the beginning, middle, or end. Hashtagged words that become very popular are often Trending Topics.")

Hope this helps and happy tweeting. Lets get #Vertcoin trending on Twitter!

Geokilla,

It's very difficult to troubleshoot if it 'just doesn't work'...
Does cgminer start at all? Any error messages?
Can you try to start it from the commandline? (Is that thing still called cmd.exe over there?)

Around 400 kH/s (+/- 20, differs per card) for a R9 290 (non-x) overhere, at I17, TC:25600, E:947, M:1500.

Reduce your thread-concurrency to about 70% of normal
