Just one for the future guys. We had an outstanding idea by othe in the dev group the other night. It's not one we intend to implement for a long time (and maybe never) - it depends how things progress, but this is just posted here so it gets archived.

If I ever release the decrypted message, you'd be able to verify that it existed today (11th February 2014) because the signature on the cyphertext below is mine, and if I released the plaintext in future, you would just be able to encrypt it to my public key and generate matching cyphertext, so you would know that I knew the contents of the message today.

Having a VTC/USD exchange would be the best thing to do IMO. It will allow the public to buy VTC without first buying BTC, thus removing the fear/distrust of BTC in the process. It'll also allow people like me who are not mining fast enough to get more VTC easily .

I've happily engaged people on mining, some of them get it and some don't, never hurts to try . I don't think it makes sense to explain cryptocurrency to anyone without talking about mining. Where do the coins come from then? I've frequently used the concept of actual (gold/silver) mining to explain it and get a eureka moment.

I'm pretty sure you just made it a easier for me to explain to others how mining works, I can't believe I haven't though of that example

Doge also has a non-dynsfunctional community 'feel' absolutely nailed.  
It boils down to two traits:

1. Take your actions (as a community) seriously
2. Don't take yourselves (as a community) seriously

Sadly with all the money building in DOGE #2 is getting less and less followed, which will unravel everything they've accomplished if they don't see this problem coming.  They don't always follow #1 either, but on balance they hit this sweet spot of "doing useful stuff without getting all uptight about it" most of the time.

If we could get 120 VTC for the press release that would be nice. With the drop of BTC and our current price I would have to make this difference up on my own. PRweb charges 369 USD for the press release distribution and this is just about that. I will create the press release and have an editor who works for me fix it up for free.

Anyway, regardless if we can raise that or not we will fire that press release out!

Could we seriously immediately agree to please remove #betterthanbitcoin tag in all media. This completely amateur and unprofessional way to go about marketing Vertcoin. Vert's mission is to set new standard for others to follow. Vert would not exist without Bitcoin, we can all agree on this. Whether it is better or not is something the public will decided once there is some type of mass adoption. It is completely unprofessional to say it is better. That's like KIA saying it is better than Lamborghini because it gets better gas mileage. Bitcoin is currently the 900lb Gorilla and Vert is an ant. So don't compare ant to gorilla. Seriously lets be professional about this and not compare our brand to other established brands. Instead highlight differentiators. Image itself is great by the way. Nice work
