Weird thought maybe, but could the sudden increase in hashrate be the pandacoin crowd testing the settings?

(Everything about that coin feels wrong BTW... Hope for their miners' sake that I'm wrong.)

That sounds about right.

Pandacoin is saying they will use the vertminer so a lot of miners will be setting that up and then switching to Pandacoin pools when they go live.

We will know for sure if the hashrate drops a lot when Pandacoin launches.

Azure Vertcoin Pool - DDOS reisistant P2Pool Node

http://cryptopool.cloudapp.net:9171/

No registration - No minimal payout!
To connect to this P2Pool node simply point your miner at:

URL: stratum+tcp://cryptopool.cloudapp.net:9171
Username: Your vertcoin address
Password: Anything
    Fast facts about P2Pool

1. P2Pool nodes are all part of one single, big, distributed pool
2. When any p2pool worker on any node finds a block, everyone on all the nodes gets paid their share
3. There is no pool wallet, and hence no payout threshold. Payments go directly to your wallet
4. The distributed nature of p2pool resists DDoS attacks

cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://cryptopool.cloudapp.net:9171 -u VbNPoxNeiNg6Bj9RwjjS4GazDbKLgUqNDP -p X

What's impossible? They mentioned that it's basically a rebranded vertminer. They might have changed it slightly but most of the settings will be similar to vertcoin I guess.

Whole thing feels like a horrible scam.

I'm sure people will pump and dump it.

Read through the first 10 pages of their thread and I got the impression that's exactly what they're aiming for. Even though they claim the opposite.

panda coin may kill us, who knos =/

i dont know much of writing code but i guess pandacoind devs are pretty much copying the code and the devs of vertcoin are way ahead because they created it..
pandacoin is also so much premined that they easily control the prize and markets long time. so sounds like scam to me..
but, if its success i believe there is market for both of VTC and panda because pandacoin is designed especially for asian markets.

A lost 1.2 BTC vith VTC droping price ... sorry I ending with this coin  Sad

I've "lost" 1 BTC when I bought a bunch at 0.009.  I'll get that back in spades when this coin takes off in a short while.  You'll only lose your BTC if you actually sell now what you're holding on to.

VTC is behaving much like BTC did when it was new.  Then the sun shines on VTC, we're going to see BTC-like growth.

May do a quick pump and dump on that crap clone, then come back and buy more VTC.

Was thinking the same thing, lol!
Since I temporarily can't get my BTC off the exchange this might be a nice opportunity to buy more VTC.

Actually screw that, looks like it's been launched since January and already the value sucks.  Profitability is 1/3rd what VTC is.

Edit:  Never mind, there is already PAND Pandacoin, but a new Pandacoin is launching 2/14/14.  That should be interesting on the exchanges.

i was thinking the same. no way im putting money to it, looks absolutely too shady.
good point to vtc is also the very open dev group. cant say exactly the same about pandacoins devs&investors..
edit: by investors i mean mostly this guy wolong.. too mysterious for me..

Doesn't look like they're even going to bother renaming the Vertminer.  Guess that makes set up easy though.

Mine the stupid thing on launch day for a day, kill off all the easy blocks (3% premine "not sold, but bidded off as an IPO" - so they sold off the premine instead of using it for giveaways and community actions like the description promised), make a few bucks if it ever hits an exchange, and then come back to one of the most creative community coins I've seen.  Doge didn't even have the amount of innovation VTC has.  Seriously?  ATMs, Amazon, etc, etc, etc.

I'd love to see what would happen if you had a USD/VTC exchange set up.  Just bypass BTC entirely.

Not exactly mysterious I think. He was/is a semi-pro pumper apparently who decided to be this coins guardian angel. Love his nick on this board too; GameofDeception.

Btw the 3% is split up, 2% IPO and 1% for development/giveaways etc. Still doesn't feel right though.

I have two questions.

1. Does anyone have a guide for solo mining?  I thought I had it setup correctly, but kept getting an error "pool 0 not supplying work fast enough." Anyone know why?

2. If I setup a p2p node for myself and mine with it, what is the difference between that and solo mining.  Specifically, is there a difference in the amount of coins I will receive?

What do you guys think is the best exchange right now for VTC? I'm sending mine to Bter at the moment but some of the comments here don't inspire much confidence in it....
