Is there any way to set minimum starting difficulty for my worker like in public p2p node ?? (address + 0.000somevalue)

how would it look,  "user+0.00001111"  ? don't think that makes sense Tongue

That makes perfect sense Smiley There is no difference between a public and a private p2pool node.
Your best value depends on your hashrate, so if you want a submit diff of 64 for example, you use +0,000977 as modifier (=64/65536).

I got 4x asus. In my opinion, they got the best coolers. Running smoothly at 350Kh/s - 70ºC

Got my account back! It was hacked. Sorry about it :|

Now I am willing to take initiative and drive the effort of getting vertcoin listed on more online exchanges, but before anything happens, I wanted to get your opinion on this. Do you think it's the right way to fight this type of problem? I would also like for more experienced users here to chip in as well, devs, OP, pool owners etc... Also, what other exchanges would you like to list VTC?

I think, too many exchanges do more bad than good.

That said, I'm using coinmarket.io for VTC and other coins. They seem to be quite new, but fast and decent as far as I can say. Not so many VTC orders at the moment, but trades and volume grow.

This update requires a hard fork of the network, which means we will have two p2pool networks running in parallell for some time while everyone interested updates to the newer version. Don't panic, it won't be like hardforking a wallet, no paid coins will go invalid. It just means that to benefit from this update you need to upgrade to the new settings. It might also mean that blocks will come a little slower for a while if not everyone comes along with the update (as we will split into two). The point of this pre-announcement is to mitigate that. Also moving to this new network means that the we'll get a new sharechain, a.k.a. any shares from the old network won't transfer over.

Any node left on the old network will continue operating as normal, but will not show up in the scanner until upgraded.

Hopefully people will catch on fast and update.

is there a difference between mining via wlan and cable? A friend said that the ping has influence on the success of mining.

When I buy the AMD R9 280x, is there anything else I need to consider with respect to the cooling system?

Edit: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Grafikkarte-AMD-Radeon-R9-280X-OC-3GB-DDR5-DX11-2-PCI-E-3-0-Powercolor-TurboDuo-/360848919301?pt=DE_Elektronik_Computer_Computer_Graphikkarten&hash=item5404458b05

the right one?

My rig has 4x GPU's in a milk crate (janky, but effective!). Their close proximity was causing some cooling issues to I had my girlfriend laser cut a custom "lid" out of acrylic for it that has 4X fans ( http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Bearing-Computer-Radiators/dp/B000O8I474/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1392332086&sr=8-2&keywords=coolermaster+fans ) on the top of it. This brought temps down ~5 degrees, GPU's are now sitting pretty at ~70-74 C.

So all in all, it depends on how you're arranging your rig. Some of the larger, more open rigs have plenty of space to cool, but especially if you go with the ASUS as you have said in your later posts, they direct exhaust air to the side towards the next GPU in line, so the first one in the line gets plenty of cool air, and the ones to the side get heated air from the one to the left. Adding fans to push this hot air away keeps the system much cooler.

Best of luck!

Yeah, Sapphire cards have terrible cooling. Not as bad as XFX of course, but still insufficient. I don't know why they're always recommended for mining.

ok guys and what about the internet? Is Wlan a problem? Better use cable? A friend said the ping is important.
Also, would you say there is always a decent incentive to mine the coins rather than buy them (apart from btc)? I know it depends on the success of a specific coin, but do you always have your costs covered?

WiFi does work, but wired Ethernet is always the most reliable. Yes, ping time is important, excessive latency can cause shares to be rejected, but it has to be significant for it to be a big problem.
Some will argue you can profit a lot more buying than mining. Mining does support the network and helps decentralize transaction processing though. It usually comes down to ideological preference.

my sapphire dual-x 280x (among the cheapest cards) stays quite silent and gives solid hash rate Smiley I may try asus direct cu top next time

EDIT: dont panic, GPU 1 is the iGPU from AMD APU, I can't bear the mighty 10WU so it is disabled! For this reason, the ambient temp reading is also wrong, it is the hot hot aussie summer down under!

Huh GPU1 is at 4C, so the environment temperature is low. But other cards are still hot. Putting two or more case fans over the cards may help.

Sounds wrong but... Is it possible to implement zero-cash in closed source?

If zero-cash is a closed source project, the devs have to rewrite everything, no codes of zerocoin can be reused.
