You guys are trying to get into the retail sector right? You should be talking to corporate retailers like wal-Mart , target etc.. Into integrating into using digibyte as a payment option that is tax free.
I don't think it can be tax free, all avoidance of tax will be seriously scrutinized by the tax authority of whichever country the outlet is in.

I think I expressed myself wrong; the main aim of this is to reduce arbitrage opportunities which increase price discovery and equalizes the trading volume over the multiple exchanges. This is exactly in the spirit of the free market and is in fact encouraged. And the fee is in the spirit of any type of project like this one. Voluntary donation as suggested will be used to fund PR campaigns on DigiByte Group.

I really don't see the issue, this isn't about centralizing anything; it attempts to reduce price differences between the multiple exchanges.

Once I've hashed out the idea properly I will make a proper forum post on our forum to make my intentions clear.

It still sounds like price manipulation.

Nobody should decide what the price should be. By creating a fund (what the crypto community would call a whale if it was an individual person) to buy/sell DGB with the purpose of 'reducing price differences between exchanges' you are manipulating the price to what you think it should be, not what the open market determines.

My current miner setup: Linux - Ubuntu 12.04, Two 1.3Mh/s Scrypt ASICs, Two Radeon HD 7850 GPU mining different algos (usually qubit or skein).

I understand your hesitance here, I really do but wouldn't this whale be acting in the interest of the whole community and there is already whales that do not perhaps.

Here is an idea I had recently (original post can be found on the DigiByteForum, click here for more information. If you guys agree or have suggestions please post on the digibyteforum because its easier to have a specific conversation there as opposed to here).

Quote
Hey guys,

I wanted to fly by an idea that I had recently. As you all know the price of DGB has decreased by about 50% since the start of the summer. I was thinking of creating a trading bot (DigiBot?) to "stabilize" the price or intervene in the market when necessary as well as reduce the possibility for arbitrage across the multiple exchanges. I know some people might not agree with the idea but I think its a good way to make some DGB that can then be reinvested in something like a Digibyte group marketing campaign.

I was thinking we could structure this in the same way a fund is structured. Ideally it would be nice to start with approx 1-2m DGB. Every "investor" would have his initial investment recorded and a percentage of the "equity" in the fund. As the fund makes money every investor would have his share of the profits payed out to him (say once a month). The fund would take a commission for maintaining the bot/server (as a percentage) and a voluntary donation (also as a percentage) that would go towards DGB development.

Basically Im thinking of a fund that both helps stabilise the DGB market, reduces arbitrage, makes some money for the investor and helps promote DGB all at the same time. If there is real interest I will make an official post and a format post for people to tell me there initial investment, donation option etc. for me to record for future payouts. I haven't started developing this but I am planning to start shortly (basically once DigiStats is back online and fixed).

Tell me what you guys think and lets get the ball rolling on this if people are interested.

Cheers!

An excellent idea.  But then, I would say that, as this concept had occurred to me already; not being a techie there's nothing I can do to pursue it.

However, I'm glad that someone is willing to give it a go, and I for one will be willing to invest in the fund as and when you are ready to launch.

digistats.info is back online - bear in mind that the market data is still not working and I will try to fix it within the week

It's good to see the site back, but the blockchain data is still wrong...

I exported all the transactions from an old mining address of mine and put them into a spreadsheet and summed it up: http://jmp.sh/1zynLIS

The total matches what's on Digiexplorer: http://digiexplorer.info/address/DLtAwfiAscztgDWdBeBuoriLmno2bAd87r

DigiStats is wrong: http://www.digistats.info/#/address/DLtAwfiAscztgDWdBeBuoriLmno2bAd87r

Hopefully the fix will be as easy as downloading the blockchain again.

Is there a way to change my web wallet password?

Is this for dgbwallet.com?
I think the only way to change is to login and change it in settings.

Cheers

I'm running a script now that should solve this issue; hope it does!

As I've said before esoteric (which built the sync scripts) has been offline for 2 months and I cannot contact him and its hard to navigate through 1000's of lines of code that I haven't written. I will try my best but there are no assurances until he comes back online.

Also just as an FYI a perfectly efficient market doesn't have any arbitrage opportunities. In a free market arbitrage opportunities are taken advantage of because its logical to do so. I prefer that the DGB community + devs take that opportunity rather than some pumper and dumper who doesn't give a **** about DigiByte. Those are my two cents and I have had a bunch of hardcore supporters say they like the idea. We'll see what happens; plus I don't think the trading volume and volatility is high enough atm to really make any difference (I'd be surprised if my bot trades more than 100k DGB per day in the current markets). Taking a look at cryptsy and bittrex volumes I highly doubt that 100k a day will have any meaningful manipulative effect on the markets.

Those are my two cents although I understand the concern.

Yes it's logical to take advantage of price differences across exchanges. If I had enough capital, I'd do the same thing. But there's a difference between an individual doing it and the DGB team.

I don't think the Digibyte team should support an attempt to control the price for profit. If they support this, imagine people saying "Oh, DGB is just another P&D coin - even their own devs support this".

We definitely do not want to see that happen.

I know some people might not agree with the idea but I think its a good way to make some DGB that can then be reinvested in something like a Digibyte group marketing campaign................................."

good speech, mr. trader. Thank god satoshi and first cryptonerds were more interested in the coin itself than in short term profit. Digibyte is great, really great and i don´t care about the price atm (tbh. i own just a few so i hope price won´t rise next time so i can buy just a tiny part of most of yours..).

Don´t let the greed win like in 99% of the cryptoworld. Buy your coins, hodl, support the project, talk to friends about, use it and maybe...maybe get rich in future BY HODL.

What you (not you in specific) are doing is fight against early (and often not really rich or better said most of us are students or "hopeless outsiders"  Tongue) crypto nerds with your damn buy, sell, buy, sell for profit bullshit. Result is that even these nerds became traders to "reduce the loss".

Man, THAT`S the DARK SIDE !

Guys first of all I've supported this coin plenty by developing some of the third party platforms based on this coin. Secondly this isn't a for profit project; on the contrary I want to use any profits (if any are actually even made) to be used to support DigiByte further.

I didn't think this would get this amount of negative feedback (I have gotten plenty of positive feedback as well) but I will tone it down if necessary.

P.S. I'm one of those "students" your talking about and the only reason I invest in anything is because of its fundamentals not its technicals; the only reason I'm here and have been for a while is because I think the community is solid.

Lost all my dgb on a web wallet because I can't log in with the password and name I've used multiple times! And now it doesn't want to log me in at all and no one can do anything about it? Your coins are safer on the exchange f this I can't do a password reset or anything?

I think you could use a bot for price stabilisation if you want to since it is decentralized and nobody can stop you.
One guys does it  with Guldencoin and it keeps the price stable, personally I am not a fan of it but who am I to say he should stop with that.

However if the devteam plus community would do it well it would take away the whole decentralized part in my opinion.
