03/21/2014 Case study DM2 vs. Radeon HD7970
As you may know, our DualMiner USB 2 (DM2) has a price promation on volume purchase this month. When you purchase 50+ DM2 devices, you pay $61.2 for each DM2 device. I did a quick scrypt mining cost/reward comparision between the DM2 and one GPU (Radeon HD7970) system , and reached a conclusion that the DM2 is alreay neck to neck with Radeon HD7970 when comparing cost/reward matrix. Below is my detail analysis;

Assumptions:
Difficulty is steady
You could get 10 DM2 at $61.2 per device somehow (such as through a groupbuy)

Given Conditions:
Host required to mine is not included in this comparision
External cooling is not included in this comparision
Mining Litecoin and $/LTC convertion rate = $16.94
Electricity cost (KW/Hour) = $0.15
Pool Fee = 2%
Duration for comparision = 375 days
Radeon HD7970 parameters; cost=$310, Hash Rate=700KH/s, Power comsumption=250W
10 DM2 parameters; cost=$612, Hash Rate=700KH/s, Power comsumption=15W
LTC reward calculator used in this analysis; https://bitcoinwisdom.com/litecoin/calculator

Calculations:
GPU extra electricity fee (/day) = ((250W-15W)*24/1000)*0.15=$0.846/day
GPU extra electricity fee (375 days) = $0.846*375=$317.25
10 DM2 $ reward from 375 days' mining = $743.9 (using calculator https://bitcoinwisdom.com/litecoin/calculator)

GPU net reward (at the 375th day) = $743.9-$310-$317.25=$116.65
DM2 net reward (at the 375th day) = $743.9-$612=$131.9

Takeaway point: With the per device price of $61.2, mining Litecoin with DM2 should give you better long term ROI compared to that of Radeon HD7970

03/19/2014 Update
We have updated our DualMiner USB 2 pricing per competition changes. We would like to enable altcoin miners with small mining budgets to be able to participate the exciting mining activities. This pricing will take effect immediately and last for one month or replaced by another new pricing.

03/06/2014 Update
Introcudtion to DualMiner USB 2
* Product
DualMiner USB 2 is a simplified version of its predecessor DualMiner USB, which is designed for Litecoin and all kinds of Altcoins mining purposes.
It still contains a single Gridchip (GC3355 processor) chip. It can be setup to mine Litecoin, or Dogecoin, or other scrypt based Altcoins with very low power consumption.

We have established a forum for all DualMiner USB product related discussion and exchange. Please go to www.dualminer.com website, then click "support" followed by "forum" http://support.dualminer.com/?page_id=149. We recommend to post your technical problems in this forum for efficient exchanges. We have assigned R&D engineers to monitor the forum very closely.

02/06/2014 Update
Our on-line store www.dualminer.com is ready to take any kinds of orders (small and large alike, domestic and international alike). If your pruchase is equal to $5,000 (US$) or less, you still have three payment methods (credit card, Paypal, and Bitcoin) available  to you, and your payment is only limited to Bitcoin when your purchasing more than $5,000 (US$) worth of devices. For people purchasing with the Bitcoin, the converting (from Bitcoin to US$) will be handled by bitpay automatically. So you final payment amount could be various slightly depending on when you actually place your order on-line.

For international orders, please keep in mind that your orders could take longer to reach you compared to US domestic buyers. Also, because each country's import requirements are various a lot, I am afraid we will not be able to design one single importing form to fit all applications. So when you fill in your shipping address and instruction on-line, please try to provide as many details as possible.

Interesting... However the biggest question on anyone's mind is if this is actually legit ??

Well, I would be willing to do a review if you ship me a test unit.

Any timeline of when these will be available?

Cheers

Hi mtbitcoin, we do want to setup an evaluating program in near future. Since you are the 1st senior member of the forum asking for evaluation, we will ship you one unit to perform your independent evaluation once we receive our batch shipments.
As to your question of timeline, we are expect to receive our 1st batch of 50 units either next week or week after next.

I thought scrypt asic's were many months away... this looks awesome!

Any idea what the sha-256 and scrypt performance will be? Will it use your pc's RAM or does it have it's own memory chip for scrypt hashing?

Great! Looking forward to this as to I am sure many others are too

You can pm me for a shipping address when they are available for shipping

Are there any tentative pricing for miners?

[Edit] +1 also if you can include both loshia and goxed as part of your evaluation program

Cheers

Any idea what the sha-256 and scrypt performance will be? Will it use your pc's RAM or does it have it's own memory chip for scrypt hashing?

I would assume that the original specifications are as listed here:

Quote
1 GENERAL DESCRIPTION
GC3355 is high performance and low power SHA256 processor designed by GRIDCHIP. With
advanced technology and highly integrated design, GC3355 target to provide multiple function and low
cost solution in SHA256 application fields.

Key feature:
 160 BTC Units
 4 LTC Units
 BTC mode up to 2.25G/s BTC Hash Rate, with 2.4W/GHash
 LTC mode up to 60K/s LTC Hash Rate
 Due-Coin mode up to 1.75G/s BTC Hash Rate + 60K/s LTC Hash Rate, or up to 2.25G/s BTC Hash
Rate + 38K LTC Hash Rate
 Highly integrated with PLL and Pre-Calculation Engine
 Support dual configuration and report interface, UART and Custom-Defined 2-Wires Bus
 Support Crystal and Oscillator
 Fully adjustable clock frequency

http://gridseed.com
https://github.com/gridseed/gc3355-doc
https://github.com/gridseed/cpuminer

So in theory 40Watts will produce 1Mh of Scrypt and around 29GH of SHA 256 hashing.
