Cheesy  Grin  Cheesy

I'm old enough to really remember life before the internet, when we didn't know what was "behind the iron curtain" and calling / seeing relatives from across the country or across the Atlantic was a huge deal.  The internet has changed that in such a way, you young people can never ever comprehend!  I can see and talk to my family in Germany any time using Skype.  We don't have to worry about how much it costs or anything, just the time zone!  It still amazes me.  Now I can go to Google translate and translate something for someone in China, and they can read it and know I MAKE ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE!  But they know I'm trying, and they do the same for me, and we get to talk like friends.

What a truly wonderful world.  Anyone who thinks technology is bad has never been touched by another from a far away place, yet so like our own back yard.

How can there be war when life is so wonderful.... oh yah, those politicians.... ugh!
Couldn't agree more. Technology and innovation has made our world smaller and done away with so many barriers. We here could be playing an ever so small role in making the world better by offering a superior aternative to fiat. But this alt world seems plagued by swindlers and opportunists. I'm hoping beyond hope that Darkcoin can break through, not just as an investment but for a better way of commerce. Kind of idealistic I know. But I try to keep it to a minimum.

The alt world is a veritable minefield. Every week is a new controversy over some theft or scam. Can we set up an official place where new alt investors can come to get legit help. Kind of the ABC's of what to do to get started safely and securely. One stop shopping for all potential Darkcoin needs. How to mine. Where to trade. Updates on exchanges that are not safe. Everything about wallets. How to keep your DRK stored safely. At present it's so scattered. And if it was also translated in several languages. Well organized and easy to navigate. If this could happen I would want to help make it reality. And it would reduce the barriers to entry for thousands who are skeptical of dipping into an unknown.

I apologize if this is already been talked about, if it has I am unaware. This is IMO far more pressing than any marketing. It's a service that the non cryptocurrency world is desperately needing. And Darkcoin could accomplish it and enter the mainstream as a positive leader and not just for nefarious underground technogeeks.

A lot of that is already written about at the other forum, http://www.darkcointalk.org Smiley  It's growing with quite a few tutorials.  we might need to make a separate section just for tutorials perhaps Smiley

while understanding the code, can someone please explain what is this...

   int64 nSubsidy = 0;
    if(nHeight >= 5465) {
        if((nHeight >= 17000 && dDiff > 75) || nHeight >= 24000) { // GPU/ASIC difficulty calc
            // 2222222/(((x+2600)/9)^2)
            nSubsidy = (2222222.0 / (pow((dDiff+2600.0)/9.0,2.0)));
            if (nSubsidy > 25) nSubsidy = 25;
            if (nSubsidy < 5) nSubsidy = 5;
        } else { // CPU mining calc
            nSubsidy = (11111.0 / (pow((dDiff+51.0)/6.0,2.0)));

I am not a programmer, but I believe nHeight is block number, Diff is the difficulty, 2222222/(((x+2600)/9)^2) this is the calculation with x= difficulty, that sets the payout and that's about all I can say, LOL

And I believe nSubsidy is the amount paid out for the block.

So I believe this is the section of code that calculates payout amounts

so where is the GPU miner ?
are you guys not aware of all the bullshit we have gone through in the last year with other so called cpu only coins ?
i guarantee this was setup to hide the gpu miner ..i guarantee one was made at launch and kept private ever since.

this coin was a mod of other cpu only coins that are proven to have private gpu miners so... uhhhhhhhh
all these guys did was add a couple more algo's and call it a revolution.. aka: standard coin cloning routine.

What are you on about?  This coin started as a CPU only.  At the time, the developer had a partially completed GPU miner started and released it with a bounty to finish it.  Eventually it was finished and we have several versions, all are linked on the first page.

Who are you and why do you come here with such an attitude?  Strange how people just come in on the thread and freak out, geepers!

My bad, it looks like there are no links to the GPU miners on the front page, that's strange!  They should be there!  I'll PM Ape.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=475795.0  << link to gpu miner

Thanks for posting that link by the way i am curious how profitable this is many other coins are getting slaughtered.
so i don't have too much to mine with but do i mine Dollhairs or Flappy coin ? or lol
And like i have said millions of times when a coin goes on all the exchanges it's too late to complain to stop it and i consider it fair game..
how different this coin is debatable i think and i have watched scammmy shit go down with gpu miners at launch endlessly.
regardless it's here and it sure as hell is not as bad as most coins out there i gotta give em that lol

I still think the name is good but for the general public nope.. it should have had a name that is geared towards the mom and pops out there to accept it as a currency.
I can't see Grandma getting into using a coin called Darkcoin or VirusDollar or SatanBucks or MaskedIntruderCoin lol

I still find it sleazy this has been paraded around as a CPU ONLY coin with no gpu miners on page one but cpu miners linked and that CPU coins list i mentioned etc.

KnC Titan might end up being 300 Mh/s to 375 Mh/s. Scrypt is so screwed.

And on the bright side....Darkcoin is the new home for ex-scrypt miners  Grin

hmm its working ok i guess but Vertcoin is 2x + more profitable to mine even while using more hardware on Dark coin for me. (what i was mining already)
and that ain't good because over time VTC has been dropping more and more getting harder to mine etc and yet it's far more profitable.
I based that on calculations with a 7950 gpu and a haswell 4770k cpu on Dark coin vs a 7950 and an nvidia 550ti on Vertcoin.
and based on pool estimates with both running similar pool code that i have found to be very accurate at guessing earnings on VTC
I think darkcoin is getting hammered.. a lot of miners mining
