I get different results:

YEA: 606
NAY: 5
ABSTAIN: 1872

Interesting. How are you checking results.

dashd masternode list votes | grep -c YEA
dashd masternode list votes | grep -c NAY
dashd masternode list votes | grep -c ABSTAIN

EDIT: My daemon wasn't updated. Your results were correct.

Let me get this straight.

51% Yea is required to pass.

However, 1872 Abstain? That means no pass.

Or, are we saying 1872 have yet to vote because vote starts with default set to abstain?

Or, are we saying 51% yea votes vs. nay votes, ignoring abstainers?

Sorry, only got one brain cell, and its thinking about the one thing it likes to think about most.

The vote requires 51% of the total masternodes to go through. Abstain is the default, so it means those nodes have not voted.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

There are very few currencies that stand the test of time. They tend to get replaced by new systems.

Will DASH be that new system of CASH? Well, in a digital age, you do need digital cash, so potentially: yes.

BUT ONLY IF YOU F*ING VOTE.

https://dashtalk.org/threads/vote-self-sustainable-decentralized-governance-by-blockchain.4825

So it means ABSTAIN counts as NAY.

Relax, Evan words are not carved in stone. We are in the firsts steps of a huge change in crypto.
we need to experiment, learn and change if necessary.
My opinion is that the ABSTAIN don't count. Not for yes or for no.

btw. welcome  Wink

Abstain shouldn't count for yea or nay but they shouldn't be ignored from the count either.  The successful vote should require 51% of total nodes voting yea.

If you only look for 51% support from nodes that actually vote, what happens if only a total of 500 nodes vote and 51% of those 500 are yea?  Heck, what if only 10 nodes voted on something and 6 of those 10 voted yes?

Only looking for 51% of the total votes that are either yea or nay isn't a fair system.  Projects should be important enough to require an overall majority approval.  If you cannot gain an overall majority, the project is not worth funding.

Very correct. IF the community is PRO the change they must MANIFEST that clearly. There must be 51% YEA votes: ABSTAIN means no clear manifestation of YEA, ergo it must count as NAY.

These rules (no matter what are the rules) should be agreed previously to all the votes, and the community must have some STANDARD rules, in order to avoid confusion/misunderstandings.

That's our first time, as it is normal that we will eventually err and learn... it's drinking and learning... Wink

We need some action:

Otoh is on Sark, there are about 10 people who live there. If we all phone around, we could probably get someone to walk down and let him know he needs to vote

BigR is probably in the tasting room, flat out drunk because he refuses to spit out the stuff he's been growing for a few months. Might have to wait until tomorrow for his votes  Grin

I don't agree.

I suggest for a votation to be valid should vote the 51% of the masternodes ("yes" or "no"). Nothing more.
Then the majority of "yes" and "no" decide.

RE: Voting.      Right now I'm set to abstain.  How do I participate in a vote?

[Wallet = v0.11.2.23, MN on v0.11.2.22)   Do the NNs need to be upgraded to 23?

the vote command returns:
Error upon calling SetKey

the list vote command works just fine but looks like everyone is set to abstain.  (masternode list votes)

Your MN does not need to be upgraded. Only the QT needs to be at .23. If you have more than one masternode listed in your local masternode.conf file, use masternode vote-many yea

Thanks,   I was looking at the single MN command and not the many.     All is well, voted.

Voted as well.

While masternode list votes shows all the nodes, these are not working:

dashd masternode list votes | grep -c YEA
dashd masternode list votes | grep -c NAY
dashd masternode list votes | grep -c ABSTAIN

What am I doing wrong?

They don't work for me either, and I updated, so..........?  I thought this chart: http://178.254.18.153/~pub/Dash/masternode_payments_stats.html would show the vote, but it doesn't.  Maybe that could be included?

So my masternodes are all in separate wallets (i know, i need to take the time to combine). Is there a way I can use the vote-many command or do I have to open each one of them up? Also, do I vote from the cold wallet or the masternode itself?
